Alright. I've come across this phrase a few times (brain squirrels). I understand the meaning of it through context. Being new to this group though, I was wondering where it originated from?

    According to Manic I was the first one to use it regularly, and my brain says I got it from a Jerry newspost regarding collecting in general. I'll source it later if I can.

    The reason I can't make it to East is because I just opened a new business. My wife thinks it's too soon to leave for a few days and she talked me into agreeing. (I hate it when she's right.)

    I honestly hate to admit that I purchased it on eBay. While I would rather get the pins through trading and PAX, I had a moment of weakness and possible insanity. I can tell by several posts that a lot of you guys hate when this happens and I for the most part agree. As I said, I'm not proud of it (and I didn't really have the extra money) but I jumped at the chance to have something that I might otherwise have never had the chance to get again. For that split second, the squirrels took over and I bought it.

    I appreciate that and yes it certainty is. In fact, I'm putting together everything for a display in the front of my computer shop. Including, the pins I've trades from several members here. I'll have pictures after I finish figuring out how I'm going to display it all.

    Nobody should fault you for buying pins off ebay. Most people get annoyed at the people who sell pins for intentionally jacked up prices, not people who buy them.

    I don't think I've seen a single person actually successfully trade for a DLC with someone who wasn't a staff member, so buying the pin is arguably the only way to obtain it anyway. So congrats.

    Ebay buyers should have no issue here. Sellers who run an auction with a sane starting price are fine too.

    It's the people who start the auction with ridiculously high prices, or those who do just "Buy It Now" at crazy amounts that I take issue with. Gouging.

    I think at some point you will see a DLC trade for something. But it is far too soon for that. We are talking in terms of years, not weeks or months. I have been doing pin research on some of the larger and older communities, and Olympic Pins of extreme rarity change hands frequently, because nobody can have a complete collection. Some trade their pins for favours, such as an entire trip to the Olympics, flights, event tickets and hotel for a single pin. Some Disney pins are traded for similar Disney trips, and one even got traded for membership to the exclusive secret club. But those communities have been going for DECADES. Ours can still be reasonably measured in months.

    Congrats Gojira_Dude! Probably the only ways I could fault someone for obtaining a DLC Pin is if they stole it or made counterfeit Pins (very unlikely) and traded them to get one.
