Man the new Intruders are nice. I have had 0 luck with the sniper ever though. It was the first intruder I bought, and after some initial success it was failure after failure, getting killed in ARO to order monkeys all day. So,

    IMGP0975.JPG
Meet Ochoa and Ramirez. Ramirez is a stone cold killing machine and I am so glad he replaced the sniper in pretty much all my lists. Asuras? Check. Dog Warriors? Check. Hell, he even soloed an AVATAR of the EI once. Ochoa is my usual Lt option. he had a bit of a rocky start, but has since warmed up after I stopped putting him next to squishy dudes who were going to get chain rifled. He earned his rank when he shot Shinobu Kitsuni off a 1 wound Gecko. With a critical. He also got to the live the dream of Flamethrowering out of camo. Onto an Ectros, which burnt to a crisp. It was amazing.

    Tl;Dr: I love intruders.

    Why not both?

Though really as much as Magister Knight links are great (and linkable 2 wound stuff is great), they can't have specialists, they can't really take advantage of the +1 Burst a lot of the time (that's one burst from the panzers and then no uses left), they don't have any MSV... They do love the Sixth Sense 2 from the link for sure but they lose their Impetuous which on guys with explosive CCWs, enough wounds to soak hits, PH14 (and Hyperdynamics!) and Panzerfausts is something you really want, actually. And the cost of a decent sized link is really a huge amount of points. Four is nearly half your list, five is just prohibitive.

I'd personally take a link team of Order Sergeants. Cheaper, access to specialists, access to more weapon types with better fire rates (Spitfire with MSV2, yes please), just as good BS and your don't end up paying nearly thirty points for a guy whose job really is to make the guys around him better. Then you can spend more on funky Knights and so on. Run those Magisters alone, let their Impetuous Orders get them up the table nice and fast. Or even better, Knights of Santiago.

Man I fucking love Infinity. It's the most fun and yet most tactical game ever. Every single time I play it feels so unique and yet it's never jarringly so, I'm always learning and using new tricks and skills. I mean, I would probably not take a Magister Knight Link Team, but it's 100% viable because Infinity is just that kind of game where nearly everything is good and can work, it's more your playstyle and knowing what your guys can do etc.

Personally I have a pretty neutral opinion of Matt Ward if only because I don't involve myself in the hobby that much and so I just forget the shitty stuff he's responsible

But this is the first time I've seen someone in any 40k discussion say anything that resembles consideration for Matt Ward or anyone who likes him

I've been thinking about how I want to organize my IG army. I like most everything the IG has. I like Sentinels, Ogryns, ratlings, all the tanks, and troop carriers, everything!

The IG is my one true love.

I've recently been thinking about how to organize my army, and I know I will almost always have a core of a couple of platoons of men. With at least three line squads each. and heavy weapons teams in each one.

Other than that, I don't know how I should organize my army list.

Should I go artillery, and include my basilisk, manitcore and two griffons? Or get more of one of those?

Should I go tank company and include all my beloved Leman Russ'?

Or go mechanized, and overload on the Chimeras?

And I also love Sentinels, Hellhounds/Devil Dogs/Bane Wolves. Where would those fit in?

Also, now I have to think about air power and adding those Valkyries/Vendettas, and I wouldn't mind a Vulture one day.

I'd also like the Forge World Crassus. It's big and looks neat. But that is a future purchase.

When I was finishing up boot camp in michigan, I managed to head out to the mall nearby that had a full GW store complete with demo tables for fantasy/40K/Mordhiem (new release).
Played a skirmish of 40K and then bought the 3rd Ed Marine codex that day. Smuggled it back on base, and spent hours looking over the entries and art, and designing my own chapter.

Even put myself and the other 4 guys that got held back a week into Terminator armor (we called outselves the Nasty Five, later the Termies would be renamed the Omega Five and be upgraded to Assault variants. Also adapted all of 1st company to use roman lettering so a full 10 terminator squad would be Theta Line, my Vanguards would be Alpha Strike, etc).

I then proceeded to draft my entire playable force and start naming every single model. My cousin would be the commander (now he's my Ironclad Dred) and a few other shipmates would become sargents.

The Imperial Guard book is getting renamed to 'Adeptus Milistratum' or something equally fake-latiny for reasons unknown.
As for when I can only assume fairly soon, I think this weekend is the last Tyranid dataslate so maybe a couple of weeks after that?

"In the end, we are very satisfied with the place the Imperial Knights have taken in Warhammer 40,000," says Jervis. "This is because no one army can ever deal with all-comers. The holy grail of many hobbyists is to fashion a single, all-conquering army that can win in any eventuality, but in truth there is probably no such thing. It doesn't make the search any less fun, but there are just too many variables, and the Imperial Knight adds another wrinkle to it. What's good at killing a Baneblade is not necessarily much good at dealing with an Imperial Knight, and it almost certainly won't help against a Tyranid Hive Crone. All this encourages people to experiment with their tactics and their collections, and I think this is one of the things adding the Imperial Knight has done. As a games developer, the most important thing I have learned to be most wary of is cutting down options," Jervis concludes. "It's our duty to provide more choices and opportunities for people to have fun with their friends. I think the tactical challenge the Imperial Knight offers are going to do that."

    Argggghhh

I'm starting to understand those people back in the day who would only play 2nd edition.

Five max I think, minimum of three.

An army of Knights on it's own is not so bad, other than involving scoring super-heavies, it's when they get allied into other armies which can be a bit of a pain.

an army of knights now sounds like the cheapest option for getting into warhammer

also the easiest to paint (imo) since I've always done better on bigger models like Dreadnoughts than I have smaller marines

    The Rules Rule.

Necromunda was literally amazing. I still have fond memories of the end of one summer campaign my local store did about 15 years ago. There was a zombie plague and the cure was located at the top of a giant building in the middle of the table.
All the top gangs were fighting for the cure and not only had to fight through the zombies (which respawned every turn and were provided by a warhammer player who had no-one else to play that day so lent us his zombies) but also had to fight each other.
Whichever gang got the cure got to survive afterwards, every other gang's survivors were assumed to have caught the plague at somepoint during the fight and each guy had like a 50% chance of dying of it after the match. Also anyone who got taken down by zombies was assumed to have been eaten mid battle. So we all wanted to get the cure because otherwise you would not win the campaign due to how gang ratings are calculated.

So I decided to split my gang into two. The close combat guys would make for the cure covered by all my shooters (including an excellent sniper and 2 heavies, one with a plasma cannon and the other a heavy bolter). The shooters would concentrate on any zombie near my sprinters so they could focus on making it to the prize, the idea being to create a zombie free corridor my guys could run through and only fight if they had to.

Anyhow its a crowded game, zombies are being blasted left/right/center by everyone and all the gangs have turned on each other, because obviously we aren't all going to work together like decent people.
Then my gang leader grabs the cure (because he had the sprint skill so could move faster than most people).

This is where the secret rule kicks in, for whatever reason grabbing the cure causes an Indiana Jones style trap where the celing will fall and automatically kill anyone left on the map in x amount of turns/till whoever had the cure left the table.
But you had to exit from your gangs deployment zone, and more zombies got placed around said zones as a barrier. It was possible for no-one to get the cure if the time limit ran out.

So thinking my Gang leader wouldn't have enough time to fight through all the gangsters below him on this building and escape the map with the cure. I did the only logical thing and jumped off the building.

I figured even if he died one of my other guys could take it off his corpse (which was a rule). My leader survived due to having Carapace armour, multiple wounds and some great rolling albeit with one wound left. Other people who copied this tactic did not fair as good.

My shooters kept the exit clear and most of my gang made it out before the celing collapsed and killed everyone left on the table, which not only included those who couldn't run fast enough but also those severely wounded guys who could only move 2' a turn.

I think out of the 6 or so gangs in the fight we had to have lost at least 33% of the gangsters to perma-death. If it hadn't had been the end to the campaign several gangs would've been reduced to a just couple of guys.
But it was great way to end the campaign and that is why I will always love that game

Necromunda, Mordheim, Battlefleet gothic. They would all be pretty awesome video games.

Necromunda and Mordheim would probably be pretty awesome movies too. I'm slightly more sceptical to Battlefleet gothics cinematic qualities, although I suppose that Michael Bay would be salivating at the thought.

There's going to be a Mordheim vidya game! That could be good. Or rubbish. GW licenced games could go either way.

I've been running a 400 point campaign at my club with a bunch of restrictions to basically make people take small patrol forces and its pretty fun. Small games work fire and can be a lot of fun provided both players have the right mindset. If someone tries to break the system, they will, but if you can avoid that it's great! We've found a bunch of minor issues.

Like the Chaos player killing 2 IG Sergeants and a LT with his Raptor Champion and then rolling Daemon Prince on the Boon table. Yeah he won that game.

What happens if everyone keeps their cool the whole time, do they meet face to face in the middle and have a stare down and then the two boss gangsters bust into huge grins at the same time and they hug it out and then everyone goes and gets plastered
