When I was in Texas I had spam for the first time (this was before I went back to being fishatarian this year) at a place that served I guess gourmet spam

It was blackened and seasoned slices of spam served with jalapeno jelly

    I...actually liked it?

    It scared me

    @Spool32

there is nothing intrinsically wrong with it, especially if you pan-fry it to get a little sear going. it's salty and meaty and you don't really need much more than that.

the grossest part of spam is that they pack it in the can with meat gelatin that is essentially aspic. that stuff kind of grosses me out. if you cook the spam that stuff falls right off tho

Wait you're a Samoan? So you're the one who puts such a heavy load on the bandwidth.

Now that can either be a weight joke or a spam joke

    take your pick

Oh I wish. No I'm white as the purest snow. There are a lot of Samoans in NZ as we took the half the US didn't take.

Our punishment for being colonialist dick heads is a large population of productive and keen Samoan citizens, which hardly seems fair.

@SummaryJudgment You'll need a Dell Windows reinstallation disc (the key won't work with a non-Dell disc) and that key.

...wow, that's certainly a thing. Dell keys won't fucking work unless you use a Dell recovery disk?

It's literally impossible to get a fresh install in a Dell machine without their fucking bonzibuddy backdoor adware bloatware, then?

    Yes to the first thing

    No to the second thing

Dell makes Windows discs that are just Windows. No extra bloatware. They come with their business and performance brands (Latitude, Precision, Optiplex).

Thanks man. Considering I'm running Windows XP Home (Media Center Edition) I don't suppose they'll ship me one. Guess I'll just be running PC decrapifier.

I mean, this thing chugs on browsing and playing baldur's gate. It's like every time it accesses a different file it just pukes for half a second.

You might be able to convince Dell to send you a Windows CD if you call them. I dunno. I also don't know how much it would cost.

This is one of those situations where it might just make more sense to resort to the method-that-shall-not-be-named.

I bet there's heavily pixelized porn on them, my IT sense is telling me this is from the early 90s, back when this place had a T3 connection, making it ideal for securing porn for IT staff of days gone past with their home dialup connections

When I was an intern at Fidelity summer after junior year I was in charge of some of their test servers in their web design department. They had 200 GB of music. In 1998.

We have a Honda Odyssey, which is completely kitted out with ways to avoid having to interact with our offspring and a great deal of comfort for us up front. Oh, and total control over what the hell they're doing back there (yes, it came with tazers). It gets great gas mileage, and has a better turning radius than spool's car. It also does the auto-open doors which is fucking awesome when trying to hurdle three young children into a vehicle while hiking groceries through a parking lot. Quit hating on the minivans, dude, just suck it up and realize they are the better choice.

It meant your odds of admining NT4 were high. Which is why I decided that being a systems administrator was not a job I wanted. Oh you installed these patches in that order? System is fucked. I got drafted as a student admin in high school and we had to maintain those boxes. Oh god.

The Solaris boxes at school were off limits to us. They had grade/transcript data. So we just got to do the mixed Windows/Mac environment. Some Windows 3.11, some 95 and I have no idea which flavor of Mac. We never did figure out why every Mac would drop off the network if a group of us was playing Marathon and someone tried to send a print job over Appletalk.
