Hockey Jersey Tradition

in PAX East
For the 4th year in a row, i'll be wearing a NHL jersey to PAX. Each year, I see a lot of people wearing hockey jersey, I try to high-5 all of them.

So who'll be wearing their hockey jersey this year?

I certainly will, it became a tradition for me at PAX

    Dammit, it's called a sweater.

    I have four different varieties of Bruins sweater, and I will be wearing at least one of them at any given time.

    This'll be the first year I don't fly the Habs' colours at PAX- cosplay will prevent that, sadly.

    Interesting tidbit, last year on the Saturday (my usual jersey day), all morning I was approached by Bruins fans to (good-naturedly) give me grief about the sweater.

    All afternoon, the Habs fans were out to high-five me for doing so.

    I always rock the Leafs jersey at least one day out of three. Considered not wearing it this year after the game that we don't talk about but I figure gotta be proud of your team no matter how disgraceful they are.

    In previous years I've always had other people yelling out Go Leafs Go, no trash talking though. Disappointing, always love going to rival cities and engaging in some good old fashioned smack-talk.

    My boyfriend and I will be bringing our Jackets jerseys and will wear them at some point... Not like anyone cares about the Jackets but their fans but.... Gotta show my Atkinson love!

    I may actually join in on the jersey love this year. I usually just forget from being so damn tired each morning. I don't get back to Quincy until past midnight, then have be up early, pack lunch and such, then walk to the T to be in town by 9. At that point, I've completely forgotten. That's also why I keep my PAX passes at work (near South Station) so that I can't accidentally leave them at home.

    While I agree that being insensitive is an issue, so is being oversensitive.

    I totally would be interested in something like this. As a Red Wings fan, I hate Sidney Crosby.

    Well, I might have to bring my Malkin jersey then.

    Because Malkin is the better Pittsburgh forward.

    I live in Pittsburgh, but I grew up in Buffalo...I root for the Sabres every year...but sometimes it's nice to have a team that can actually make the playoffs, you know?

    Wow, this is excellent, I had no idea this was a "thing" at PAX! I usually just bug the same dude every year who wears the Philadelphia Union jacket around. I've worn my Tecmo Bowl t-shirt in the past and gotten a ton of praise from fellow attendees, I should have thought about something like this sooner!

    It's a good year for me, the Bolts are back in the playoffs for the first time in a few seasons and they've played well against the Habs in each regular season meeting. Now the question is, what player do I wear? Home or away? Too many choices...

    You shouldn't get too much trouble at all for wearing it. There are a few teams that get heat for it in Boston (and it's never too terrible unless you're around a bunch of drunk jerks near the Garden after a game with them), and they are the Habs and Flyers.

    Regardless, you should fly your colors with pride.

    haven't really thought about a jersey seeing as it gets pretty warm in there. Tho seeing all of this now i think i might have to pack one of my Bruins jerseys (.... new school or old school?) Or my Manchester Monarchs (AHL LA Kings farm team).... maybe both

    It's actually supposed to be a bit chilly on Friday, but possibly hit 70 on Sunday. That definitely would put a damper on the jersey idea, but tradition is tradition, right?

    The difference is that it's PAX. It's honestly the only event I've ever been to where bumping into someone is met with politeness all the time. You're safe.

    @Le_Goat Actually you're 100% right. Never met a rude or angry person at PAX. Already seeing many sming faces. Something about PAX just makes everyone friendly. :)
