I feel like telling somebody you are going to do something and then doing something else maybe invalidates the contract.

Like, good faith and what not.

    Maybe I'm wrong.

    People read contracts?

well, even if it is illegal, actually enforcing that is a whole 'nother piece.

I can believe that people might rather hope an after-school special just doesn't get much play rather than take the people to court for breach of contract.

You can write it into a contract that you reserve the right to knowingly misrepresent them and their statements, and if they sign it, they would have an extremely hard (or at least extremely expensive) time winning a legal battle.

I don't know why anyone would sign a contract like that, but if you do, it's pretty much your ass.

There's a study out there that claims 25% of Americans still believe in geocentrism.

No idea how valid it is, though.
25% of people surveyed which is still depressingly high but not an indicator of the country as a whole.

I just noticed there's a Neil Degrasse show I hadn't heard of on Netflix, The Inexplicable Universe with Neil.

Only 6 episodes, but fun so far

    Holy shit, #9.

Its why we have so many drug resistant strains today.

Cause in the mid/late 90s there was a mad rush to go to the doctor for antibiotics every time you got a virus like the flu.

And the doctors, not wanting to deal with you and your stupidity, just blindly wrote billions of prescriptions because what harm could it do.

Well, it did a lot of harm and we're having to deal with it today.

I don't even remember when I learned that antibiotics don't work on viruses.

I've known it for so long, I have no memory of learning it.

    Man, great episode tonight.

Tyson has such a way of speaking, whether written for him or just off the cuff, and he's very good at explaining things.

One of my favorite talks is with him and Stephen Colbert (out of character) at the Kimberly Academy. It's so awesome because not only do they cover a wide range of awesome topics, but also because of Tysons poetic quotes all through the talks. This is one of my favorite things to watch and I can watch it over and over and over again.

(Skip the first 6 minutes of introduction if you want to get right to the talk)

So very true. Also, he's one of a very few people (another being Fred Rogers) who could actually get me, without a second thought, to breathe in with him when he said, "Let's all take a breath." It's just so obvious that he really enjoys talking to, engaging, and interacting with his audience.

When the new series started I was kinda down on the opening theme, mostly because I was comparing it to the original. But now, six episodes in, I have to say it's really grown on me.

The Inexplicable Universe: Unsolved Mysteries is available on Netflix, and I am watching it now. It's also great, and I highly suggest it if you like Cosmos. It's less flashy but... it's Tyson talking about the Universe for a few hours so... ya know, awesome. ;)

Man, tonight's episode was a double whammy. While introducing basic scientific concepts, it was definitely focused on sending a different message, and they do it in a way that is easy to grasp and reasonable to a general audience.

I see what they are doing with this show, and I like it.

I loved this episode. Definitely the best one so far at achieving multiple teaching goals with one major story of scientific inquiry.

I have a really bad feeling the last episode could easily have been about fracking.

    Except with no happy ending.
