New G&T Rules

The new rule list appears to just be a cut and paste of the old initial rules list, but lacks pretty much all of the later addendums, such as "Abandonware now okay on case by case basis," or "don't link to 4chan", or the ever popular "no thread assassination" rule... and other such greats. I'm sure I'd have a couple more, but... well... I didn't think I'd need to save the rules thread. Some vaguely fall under the umbrella of other rules, but if that was obvious to the masses, then they wouldn't have needed extra clarification.

Are these addendums going to be reinstated? Or perhaps some clarifications made... such as "Just because the the main site discusses emulation/draws penises/links porn sites/shows themselves pirating shows" that doesn't make it okay for the forum to do the same... since there already has been some friction over that (see Pictochat thread) and one somewhat clueless newbie offhand recommending we go pick up a fan translation of an SNES game (which funnily enough... was officially released in English anyway).

Yeah, we'll be adding those back in. Thanks for mentioning those few, they're kind of important.

Nice. Can we add some new ones too? Or revive some of the temporary ones we had... like "knock off the poll threads" or "if you need basic help or advice, go to H/A... even if it's about a computer/toaster/digital blueberry muffin" or "put content into threads above and beyond a yes/no question?"

    Because I'm all for that.

LATE EDIT/PHANTOM BUMP FOR GREAT JUSTICE:
Also, perhaps making a couple console hardware threads for general questions, letting people ask them, then archiving them in AFK would be a good idea? I mean, in the past 48 hours or so there has been a thread about plugging in DSes, a thread about DS game cases, and three friggin' threads about the merits of the black DS Lite. All of which fall under the category of hardware and periphreals, and the answers will never ever change, but apparently people are going to keep asking them.

I personally would like to not see "take it to H/A" as a hard and fast rule. I have tried in the past to take technology advice questions there and they just kind of sink off the page, and when I take the topic to G&T discussion usually begins within an hour or two.

No, I'm pretty sure if I made a thread about it in the PAX forum under the title "NEED FREE WOW GLOD PLZ", that would be a significantly less productive manner of effecting change.

Just know the new people not knowing the rules is causing a lot more work for our skeleton crew of mods than it is for us normal folks.

You don't have a skeleton crew, and I think your mods are the ones to judge when their workload becomes inconvenient. Anyway, it'll get done when it gets done. Quit poking them.
