Meet The Dominion
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FhB3iYv4Ng

The Cassian - The top dogs of the group, tasked with the heavy burden of bringing civilization and prestige to the unwashed masses. They're better than you. They know it and they have no problems constantly reminding everyone else about it through arrogance or just good old fashioned brute force.

The Draken - The meanest sumbitches in the galaxy. Dragon folk. Warriors, hunters and fighters. Not hard to find at all. Just gotta follow the trail of decapitated corpses

The Mechari - Ruthless killing machines created by the Eldan to sniff out traitors and spies. Humor deficient

The Chua - The real brains behind The Dominion's tech. Pint sized rodents worked into a near psychotic froth at the mere sight of technology

Meet The Exiles
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fn8648VGMKM

Humans - Humans this go aren't the big boys on the block. Wanderers, nomads and explorers using good old fashioned Grit and Determination™ to find a new world to call home. The Dominion though? Fuuuuuck those guys.

The Granok - Stone skinned ass kickers and name takers. If they aren't busting heads, they're probably somewhere pounding back cold ones. For the sake of simplification let's call them 8 foot tall space dwarves.

The Aurin - Requisite hippies only with more fur, tail, tooth and claw. Scrappy lil cusses not afraid to throw down if they have to though. They exist a bit more on the spiritual side of the spectrum for the Exiles, shamanism and mysticism with a whole lot of "one with nature"-ness

The Mordesh - Exile black ops. Technically kinda dead! and using a combination of science and cybernetics to keep themselves from rotting away. These guys get down to the dirty stuff the rest of the Exile faction find a little "unsavory" whether its genetic mutation experiments or unleashing a madness plague on Dominion civilians

The Warrior's Gear

Power Sword

For ages, warriors throughout the galaxy would slice and dice their enemies with swords, only inevitably to find themselves confronted with something uncuttable. But then someone came up with the crazy idea of hooking a blade up to a fusion accelerator. The result? A marriage made in slaughterhouse heaven. Today's power swords come equipped with ten megatons of liquid awesome hurtage. In. Your. Fist.

Arm Cannon

Think last year's Thermo-Nuclear Battle Gauntlet was the last word in extremity extreme? Well, stop thinking and listen, because this year we're talking the XL45 Hell Mitten: a supercharged deathgrip that'll have your enemies singing soprano for the rest of their three-second lives. This bad boy comes stocked with something for everyone to die from: a high-velocity ripsaw, 40M retractable battle harpoon, instant-activation riot shield, personal defense plasma barrier, and high-explosive destructo-missiles. Oh...and GPS. This ain't your gam-gam's battle gauntlet!

Brute Force

Enough with the techno-yadda-yadda, egghead...Tactics are for wimps. In the end war's all about two good old-fashioned pastimes: ass-kickin' and face-stompin'. Which one you do with the back of your hand and which comes courtesy of your size 30 boot is up to you, ace.

Warrior Lore:

the most ancient fraternity in the universe. Paragons of foolhardiness. Defenders of the swordless. Though the names of a very few are immortalized, the deeds and even existence of most will never be known. And while none would dare impugn their courage, their intelligence is another matter entirely.

For millennia, those who followed the way of the blade saw no need for weaponry of greater complexity than swords. While reforms spearheaded by Bellitorus the Organ Grinder such as a Warriors School had fizzled out because the invitees were "sorta busy fighting," his innovation of a sword powered by nuclear energy was eventually accepted by many as a satisfyingly gory improvement.

Despite this, his second proposal, an arm-cannon, would only catch on after die-hard sword purists repeatedly found themselves mown down by the millions from laser artillery. Yet so great was the warriors' attachment to their archaic weapon that when Bellitorus' illegitimate descendant Vagnathrox the Spleen Gargler suggested other, more powerful, longer-range projectile devices, his disgusted peers beheaded him on the spot.
Nevertheless, in 1414, Vagnathrox belatedly received recognition for good intentions in the form of a statue of his decapitated body, which to this day enjoys the occasional visitor behind the restrooms of the Neglected Military Near-Heroes Museum on the nameless 18th moon of Perambuthorus VII-b.

The Spellslinger's Gear

MAG PISTOLS

For centuries, the number of bullets Spellslingers could shoot per second was an infuriating bottleneck. Then, belatedly recalling that they were ambidextrous, they added a second pistol to their arsenal. The rest is exit wound history.

MAGIC SIGILS

If there's one thing Spellslingers hate, it's a fair fight. That's why they supplement their deadeye marksmanship by juicing up their weapons and ammo with sorcerous sigils. Who says gunfighting and the occult don't mix? The Spellslingers' victims, and they aren't talking.

ACROBATICS

If there's another thing they hate, it's losing. For generations, Spellslingers fought duels by standing stationary at opposite ends of deserted streets, only to find themselves defeated by the agile. Humiliated by their own immobility, they delved into the arcane arts of somersaulting. Needless to say, their win percentages improved by leaps and bounds.

Spellslinger Lore

Since time immemorial, there have been Spellslingers. Lean, craggy types with dead eyes, their only weapons pistols, their only mailing addresses the grim and dusty wastes, their only social contact in saloons so violent that most patrons brought along their own body-bags.

In the early days, 'slingers were so trigger-happy that running out of ammo was a constant concern. Then one with a head for sorcery began cadging magic bullets from another dimension he called "the Void". Them bullets never ran out, and they packed six hells 'a wallop per cubic molecule. And then one clever sumbitch figured out you could actually go into the Void. That's when things started to get ugly.

Having licked their ammo problem by transcending time and space, Spellslingers once again roamed the wild reaches beyond the Fringe, killing all who looked at them funny and most who didn't. Of course, now they face a different problem. There may be fewer villains holding up banks and killing the parents of future vengeance-seekers, but now cemeteries across the galaxy have reached full capacity.

http://www.wildstar-online.com/en/the-game/classes/stalker.php

The Stalker's Gear

CLAWS

Guns may have better range and cause less muss, but where's the fun in that? Claws of every conceivable length, shape, sharpness, balance, and reflectivity give the discriminating Stalker no end of options when it comes to slicing open every artery at once. Just because you're invisible doesn't mean your opponents' innards have to be.

DEVICES

Who says business and pleasure can't awkwardly mix? Claws may be fine for everyday massacres, but for special occasions, Stalkers enjoy an assortment of swanky accessories such as amplification spikes, tether-mines and nano-darts. Put the sass back in your assassination or your blood-money back!

NANO SKIN

f there's one thing all Stalkers agree on, it's that pockets are so yesteryear. That's why this year's homicide hobbyist dresses to kill in a nanite-charged skin of smartfabric featuring a wetwired cerebral interface, and a veritable arterial spray of lethal accessories. It's not fashion-forward, it's fashion-fatal.

Stalker Lore

Since the dawn of creation, sentient beings have sought one thing above all others: beer-flavored bubblegum. But invisibility was a close second, not only for its simplification of wardrobe selection, but also for the ways it would improve the galaxy's favorite pastime: evisceration of the unsuspecting.

Unfortunately, for every bold innovation like hiding behind trees or the discovery of shadows, the prey community craftily countered with claw-proof contact lenses, time travel, and the police. For a while it seemed that invisibility would remain shamefully confined to the pages of paranormal romance.

But then came the Cassian acquisition of 'omni-plasm', a mysterious Eldan goo containing millions of nanites - the building blocks of what would become the Stalker's arsenal: stealth, enhanced defenses, and optical holoprojection capable of transforming mere humanoids into invisible mere humanoids.

Today's Stalkers enjoy the distinction of being the least visible assassins in interstellar warfare. Or, as Shrik "the Strangulator" Biddlesworth put it in his autobiography Stalking for Success: A Personal Journey, "If your liver's still operational by the time I've moved on to your family members, then I'm not doing my job."

The Esper's Gear

PSY-BLADE

While others waste time swinging clunky metal swords at you, you'll be ventilating them with an indestructible wit-sharpened stiletto forged from 100% superego! Unlike their flimsy milquetoast steel counterparts, your psy-blade projections be flung with deadly abandon among your cerebrally disadvantaged victims! Brain power never felt so good!

PANACEA ILLUSIONS

They say time heals all wounds, but why wait? Humiliate generations of traditional physicians by restoring life and buffing armor using only the power of your mind! And if you ever dreamed of transforming into a health-restoring, rainbow-pooping spirit animal? BOOM.

MALIGNANT ILLUSIONS

Tired of hearing that you cause "bad vibes" and fly off the handle over "nothing"? Put those judgmental haters on the short bus to payback school! Use your enemies' worst fears against them, attacking with nightmarish psycho-kinetic horrors guaranteed to stop even the hardiest of hearts.

Esper Lore

uber-freaks of paranormal-nature or the next stage in evolution? Civilization's mental elite or pariahs doomed to lives of desperation? Masters of mind over matter, or mindless slaves to their own madness? Never, and always, have so many moving so much using so little endured such torment.

In the early stages of galactic civilization, individuals evincing psycho-kinetic abilities were hailed as frightening abominations to be persecuted, exorcized, and burned at the stake (or, among the Chua, blown up, then beaten, and then blown up again). But as cultural and scientific knowledge advanced, along with a growing recognition of their military applications, public opinion of the Esper's abilities took a dramatic (and significantly less flammable) turn.

Now, with the demand for unconventional combat techniques at a premium, Espers are considered valuable members of the community, enjoying unprecedented levels of esteem and respect. Mostly this takes the form of slightly fewer wedgies, and only the occasional stake-burning in the less enlightened parts of the galaxy.

The Medic's Gear

RESONATORS

Does shocking others "resonate" with you? If so, your aspiring inner intern will be Delighted Upon Arrival with the Awe-n-Shock Resonators Mark IX. Heal your enemies and boil your friends with last year's prize-winner for Most Excruciating Surgical Appliance! Smells like this wild-cardio just got wilder!

FIELDS

Did someone say sci-fi sawbones? Wielding a virtual pharmacopoeia of benign and malignant auras, you'll be savoring your enemies' squeals of relief and allies' howls of agony through the undebunkable magic of medical science!

PROBES

Nothing puts a smile on a medic's face like a bunch of shiny new probes! Sophisticated advances in biotechnology allow healing probes to work so fast, there's only time for emotional scars! And for Medics with an eye for offense, the Ultra-Probinatrix 9000-Z is guaranteed to cause death faster than you can say ah. With devices like these, killing patients is a virtue!

Medics Lore

Back in the day, it was great being a doctor. Illness and death were omnipresent, and the medical profession was one of the very few able to charge improbable sums for advice, even when it proved irrelevant or fatal. With the exciting innovation of warfare, their clientele skyrocketed along with their rates. Times were grand!

But in a tragic twist for the profession, magnetic resonators capable of rapidly restoring health became scientifically possible. With people no longer sickening or dying in great numbers, some doctors were forced out of business altogether, or, even worse, into saving lives without compensation.

Thankfully, the most entrepreneurial sociopaths in the industry came through big-time. Aspiring quacks ingeniously repurposed their resonators to inflict pain rather than relieve it.

Once again, and with only minor revisions to their sacred oaths, they were making money hand over fist. Thanks to the enduring efforts of such pioneers, an industry formerly on life-support has metastasized virtually overnight into a cottage industry. Times are even grander!

The Engineer's Gear

LAUNCHER

"Concealed" weapons are for grandmas! Grow a pair by grabbing LaunchCorp's Launch-O-Matic QT-Pi Ultra-Standard and fire some rocket-propelled attitude adjustment into the awe-struck face of anyone who gets in your way. Sure, the launcher's sheer power might just dislocate the joints in both your arms, but wait until you see the other guy's!

BOTS

Nothing says engineer like a posse of homemade mechanical servitors! Constructed in the greasy depths of your workshop, these industrial-strength beauts will repair you and disassemble your enemies faster than you can say 'hostile oil change'. Plus, you don't have to worry about making friends!

EXO SUIT

What's an Engineer without his Exo-Suit? Less armored! But with it on, he's the toughest grease-monkey to ever solder a circuit! With multiple combat modes that crank up your obliteration quotient or make you 100% resistant to mushroom clouds, this deadly tech-tuxedo proves that impeccable style ain't just for peacetime!

Engineer Lore

Since the dawn of civilization, those with a flair for repair have been cruelly abused by the mechanically disinclined. Swindled and verbally abused, their generous labors were more often rewarded with derision and disrespect than formal currency.
But then mechanic Adler Zolpwald was famously stiffed for his gasket lubrication fee by Darkspur Cartel boss Ando "Half-Brain" Mookle, who then firebombed his garage, encased his feet in cement, and had his thug-bots toss him in the river. Fortunately for Zolpwald and the future of engineering, Mookle was a simpleton and the river he had chosen was only ankle-deep, and the cement rubber.

From the smoldering ashes of his livelihood, Zolpwald hammered together the first ever Bruiser-Bot Mk I out of barber poles, skeletons, and a waffle-iron. Confronting Mookle and his gang in a local precious glassware shop, he delivered a now forgotten speech on the merits of justice. The resultant carnage served as a rallying flag for rivet enthusiasts everywhere.

Within centuries every garage in the galaxy resounded with the righteous clatter of servitor construction. Virtually overnight, innovations like indestructible Exo-Suits and missile launchers went from unnecessary to science fact. Despite humble beginnings, Engineers have evolved into the pre-eminent destructive AND constructive force in the galaxy. Hardly ever before has the concept of welding inspired such dread.

PATHS

http://www.wildstar-online.com/en/the-game/paths/

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmCyPXv5APY&feature=youtu.be

Paths are additional character creation options used to tailor your gameplay experience towards your own playstyles. Maybe you're that guy that just wants to KILL! KILL! KILL! or that person that likes to go "goating" around the MMO landscape to look for places you shouldn't normally be able to reach. Paths are for those players.

-Soldier:This is the Path for the people that want to get down and dirty. Assassinations and weapon R&D your thing? This is the path for you my friend! You're going to be that guy that does everything from defending a spot from waves upon waves of enemies, to summoning world bosses for people to fight. Cigar and can of beer not included

-Explorer: Have you ever played an mmo and saw a building or mountain off somewhere and wondered to yourself "Can I get on top of that?" That's the explorer. Finding hidden pathways and beautiful vistas with your tracking sense and intuition. Open shortcuts through a zone, find hidden caves, ruins and treasure. You are Indiana Jones. In space. Roll with it

-Scientist: The lore junkie. The scholar. Yours is the path of finding out what the heck all this crap is for! If you were the type of person whose OCD didn't allow them to leave a jrpg or zelda game until every nook was checked and every pot smashed, scanned, searched or whathave you. This is the path for you. It's your job to catalogue all the plants and critters of the world!

-Settler: Are you a people person? I sure hope so. Settlers are all about helping out your fellow player (maybe with a little extra incentive thrown in for you) It's your duty to maintain towns and outposts, providing buffs, mounts, taxis and outpost defense to give your fellow players a safe haven in-between their many adventures!

Adventures

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pgK0I3FqvU
http://www.wildstar-online.com/en/the-game/pve/adventures/#page1

Adventures are instanced group content, similar to dungeons on the surface, but inside follow a test of decision making across varied scenarios ranging from Choose Your Own Adventure-style adventures, MOBAS, Tower defense and even a murder mystery!

Arenas and Battlegrounds
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8IeXYzqP8iU

Arenas: A twist on the classic formula sees arena teams sharing a respawn pool that when depleted means the loss of the match

Battlegrounds: Battlegrounds come in two flavors-

Walatiki Temple: A Neutral flag variant that sees the objective spawn at fixed locations in the play space that then have to be claimed and returned by either team to their own base. Captured masks can be stolen from enemy bases.

Halls of the Bloodsword: An Attack/Defend "push" style battle ground that sees the Attackers having to capture two points in a stage before the central objective can be taken to push to the round forward to the next stage. The defender's job is to stop them any way they can.

WARPLOTS

The Big Fat FAQ for New People

    WHERE DO I GO???
Click objectives on your question tracker, and a handy arrow will point the way! This also applies to Path missions.

I'm at the end of my newbie area, but I want to level with my friend. How do?
Both factions have two areas after the initial newbie/tutorial zone, which are split Human/Granok and Aurin/Mordesh for Exiles whereas Cassian/Mechari and Draken/Chua are the Dominion split. This is the default and where your quest will take you. If you'd rather go elsewhere, then turn in the quest but DO NOT use the terminal to take you out of the newbie zone. Just head to the far end of the area opposite from where you're at and look for a glowy terminal there to click. That'll take to you the other option instead of your racial default.

    What do stats do!?

    http://i.imgur.com/4jqQlrk.png

How it works: you have skills broken down into three categories (Assault/Support/Utility). Assault skills scale entirely off Assault Power, Support scales entirely off Support Power, and Utility evenly scales of both. For the sake of leveling, you want lots of Assault Power. If you plan on tanking or healing, you should take the opportunity to grab the odd piece of support gear every so often.

    When do I unlock...?
PvP: Level 6 to queue for battlegrounds, and around 15 you can queue for the other battleground.
Crafting: Level 10 (you can only get as high as the journeyman skill for beta)
    Housing: Level 14
    Mounts: Level 15
Adventures: 15, 25 and 30 (you can enter a bit earlier but this is the recommended level)
    Dungeons: 20 (ditto as above)
Raids/Warplots: Not available at the current beta level cap unless you're a special snowflake from older betas.

There is also a thing in the menu that shows what each level specifically unlocks.

How do I change my costume?
You have to go to a Protostar vendor in your capital city and talk to him. The /costumes command no longer works. Same goes for dying items.

How do I unlock tier 2/3 AMPs?
Each zone has a rep vendor that will sell you two AMPs at the Popular reputation, which should be easy to hit just by leveling through the zone normally. AMPs rarely drop off mobs and AMPs have a decent chance to be inside scavenged bags from challenges but there's no guarantee they'll be for your class. Check the guild bank as people tend to store them there.

What's the difference between tradeskills and hobbies?
You have have two tradeskills and as many hobbies as are available (which is just cooking for the moment).

Gawd, I can't be an anime bunny princess for EVERY CLASS?
Racial restrictions are a product of time restrictions on the art department. Each model needs to be rigged for the animations of each class, and they did not have enough time. The current plan is to someday allow each race to play any class.

My warrior xxGokulordxx looks sick as fuck. How can I save his beautiful face for launch?
Currently during character creation AND ONLY during character creation, you can hit "customize" and look for a "save/load character" option. This will bring up a code that you can store somewhere until launch, upon which you can hit the same button and copy/paste the code for instant character. If the character has already been created, then you are shit outta luck unless Carbine lets us grab codes for pre-existing characters before beta ends. Also, make sure you have race and sex decided, because obviously you'll get errors if you try to paste in a female Mordesh code for a male Draken.

    When do I get hoverboards?
Level 25 unless you were in the winter beta and got one of those. Also, use renown to buy a hoverboard, as it is significantly cheaper than the gold option.

    Wait, what is renown?
Renown is a currency earned by doing group content like Adventures. It is largely spent on aesthetic items like furniture, mount flair, and so forth, but I believe you can buy crafting mats or something similar with it.

Any other fun moneys I should know about?
    Prestige: PvP currency
Elder Gems: The endgame currency, similar to Valor from WoW. At 50 your experience bar earns a single gem every time it fills up, and there's a weekly cap on how many you can get that way. Gems buy a ton of stuff, such as raid gear (but only if you've beaten the boss that drops it), aesthetic items, and other stuff that is irrelevant since gems also buy ability tiers and AMP power and that's what you'll be spending the first months of level cap buying!
War Coins: Used to build stuff on warplots
Influence: Used to buy guild perks like bank tabs.
Crafting Vouchers: Earned via crafting dailies, these purchase schematics and various reagents.

    How do I link/preview/etc. items?

To link an item, shift + right click the item. Note that you can pretty much only link items in your inventory.

To see how an item looks: same deal (shift + right click). This seems to work on inventory and items being sold by someone but NOT linked items.

I failed a challenge. How do I redeem myself?
There is a challenge menu that allows you to manually restart challenges. Completed challenges can even be repeated for another shot at goodies!

I got CC'd. How can I make this suck less?
Stun is the obvious one (press the button the game tells you to hit), but the others might be less intuitive.

Knockdown: You can dash (aka dodge) to break it early. This does require and consume a dash, so keep it in mind.
Tether: Kill the thing attached to the tether.
Subdue: This is subtle, but subdue is actually just a disarm. If you cannot do ANYTHING and aren't clearly stunned or whatever, then you are probably subdued. Your weapon got knocked somewhere, and you can run over and pick it up to clear the subdue.
Disorient: You cannot clear this early, but it simply random rebinds all your movement keys so just try to learn quickly the new directions.
Root: As far as I can tell, you're more or less forced to suck this up or burn a CC break.

Whoa, I casted a crowd control skill and NOTHING happened. What the hell?
Interrupt Armor (IA) is a little number in a circle next to the target frame (and your frame, but you have zero IA by default). If CC is used against a player with at least one IA, the CC fails and the target loses one IA (sometimes more depending on the skill). If a target has no IA, then you'll see a little broken red shield signaling their vulnerability (however, if you see neither shield nor number, it means the target has no IA and doesn't regenerate it on their own). If you see a gold shield with no number, it means the target has infinite IA and is effectively immune to CC.

Interrupt Armor is a key thing to learn, and not just for PvP, as mobs and even bosses can be vulnerable to CC if the party coordinates their crowd control properly. Most bosses regenerate IA quickly, so it's important that players plan ahead of time as to whom has the CC and the timing for getting it off. In some cases this is vital to beat an encounter.

An enemy's health bar turned purple. What the fuck?

This is known as a Moment of Opportunity (MOO), where an enemy was interrupting while casting a telegraph. During this short period, they take 50% more damage from all source. This rewards players who are even more on the ball by giving them a considerable DPS boost for not only coordinating their CC, but doing so at the right moment. It's also important in PvP, as interrupting a healer during a heal reaps even more of an advantage.
    Rorus Raz wrote: »
Someone wanted a rundown on classes that wasn't fluff and PR speak, so here we go...

To start, Focus is a healing resource shared by three classes. You start with 1000 and deplete as you cast heals. Focus regenerates very slowly in combat unless you have some focus-regen gear, so healers much keep an eye on this resource throughout the fight. Note that classes without focus do half some limited healing capability (typically self-targeted), but it's not link to any resource except for whatever class resource they may have.

    9IIYXGn.png
    Armor: Light
    Weapon: Psyblades
Roles: Ranged DPS (Assault), Healing (Support)
Resources: Psi Points and Focus. Psy Points are more or less like combo points from WoW: build them up and use finishers that get a boosted effect with more Psy Points.
Innate: You gain an absorb bubble, one Interrupt Armor, and you generate 1 Psy Point every second for five seconds. During this, you cannot move.

How does it play? Espers are largely known as immobile casters with REALLY long range. Their damage potential is very high if they're allow to just sit and act like a turret firing off their rotation. Even in PvP this isn't terrible, as I have topped damage meters when enemies let me sit and do my thing. As you level up, you do gain a variety of more mobile spells but these tend to require the Esper to give up their range for it. Esper healing is mostly targeted compared to the telegraphs that other healers use. They do have pets, but these tend to be cooldowns rather than permanent entities like Engineers.

    MXIiZFH.png
    Armo: Light
    Weapon: Pistols
Roles: Ranged DPS (Assault), Healing (Support)
Resources: Spell Power and Focus. Spell Power is depleting by casting spells while surging, and slowly fills over time.
Innate: Spell Surge, which gives your spells additional effects and boosted potency, but only lasts while you have enough spell power.

How does it play? Spellslingers are similar to Espers in that they play from a distance, only they possess more mobility at the cost of using narrow cones for many of their telegraphs. Unlike other classes, they don't really have a builder/spender dynamic like other classes. Instead you carefully spend your spell power and then wait for it to regenerate. Slingers also use a lot of charged skills, where you start casting a spell and can finish early for a diminished effect (and cost) or wait the whole duration for the maximum. Healing is a mix of telegraphs and targeted skills, with some absorbs thrown in for fun.

    DYAOfL0.png
    Armor: Medium
    Weapon: Resonators
Roles: Melee DPS (Assault), Healing (Support)
Resources: Actuators and Focus. Actuators are built using specific skills, and other skills spend a specific amount of them to go off. Again, to put this in WoW terms, think the Monk's Chi.
Innate: Energize, which passively gives any player who gets their shield healed by the medic to gain +25% shield mitigation. Above 30% HP, the Medic can activate to restore all Actuators and gain a temporary boost to Assault and Support Power. Below 30% HP, the Medic restores a portion of their shields in addition to gaining back the Actuators.

How does it play? "Melee" is a bit of a fuzzy for Medics, who do possess a few ranged moves but have to be up close to be at their most effective. As a result, Medics enjoy very generous telegraphs for both healing and damage, with short but wide sizes. Unlike the other two healers, Medics have NO targeted heals, meaning you have to nail those telegraphs but they are very mobile with no heals requiring them to sit still. Medics also prefer to repair shields in additional to healing. As for DPS, they have a lot of aoe that does damage in a static area in addition to dots.

    lgVV8UP.png
    Armor: Medium
    Weapon: Claws
Roles: Melee DPS (Assault), Tanking (Support)
Resources: Suit Energy, which is just like a Rogue's energy bar. Many skill require it, and it quickly replenishes over time.
Innates: Three suit modes: DPS, PvP, and Tanking. They all provide passive role-relevant buffs, and gain be activated to enter stealth. Stealth is usable in combat and each mode has its own perk when you leave stealth.

How does it play? Stalkers are the more mobile of the traditionally melee classes and unlike other games you frequently use stealth throughout combat. It's all about efficient using stealth to maximize whatever it is you're doing. As you imagine, they have a variety of CC such as stuns, tethers, and knockdowns. They seem to be more limited than Warriors or Medics at range, relying on their mobility and CC to stick to targets. Similar to the Spellslinger, Stalkers don't have the builder/spender paradigm in case you dislike that playstyle.

    jjrxjjh.png
    Armor: Heavy
    Weapon: Greatswords
Roles: Melee DPS (Assault), Tanking (Support)
Resources: Kinetic Energy, which is built by attacks and required by other attacks. This is NOT similar to rage from WoW warriors: Kinetic Energy rapidly depletes and moves that require it do not consume it: skills just have a threshold of required energy before you can use them.
Innates: Two stances: juggernaut and onslaught. One gives you tanking passives and the other gives you dps passives. Both can be activated to halt Kinetic Energy decay and give you further stat-relevant boosts for a few moments.

How does it play? Warriors are basically chunky melee machines that give up the Stalker's mobility for being beefier and having better ranged options. They can use their arm cannons to fire some light ranged attacks, pull enemies in, or taunt. Warriors also seem to lean a bit more on the AoE side of things than Stalkers, and you might consider them a happy medium between the more single-target Stalker and AoE happy Medic. Some find the Warrior's resource to be rather annoying, as it depletes FAST, but a Warrior at max energy can dish out a variety of damage and effects in a short duration.

    UKFDqvu.png
    Armor: Heavy
    Weapon: Heavy Guns
Roles: Ranged DPS (Assault), Tanking (Support)
Resources: Volatility, which is basically is rage from WoW.
Innates: Two modes: Eradicate and Provoke. As you might expect, one is for tanking and the other is for DPS with all the relevant passive buffs and both can be activated for even more buffs. Both innates also give you passive Volatility generation when activated. I should mention this also puts your character in a badass looking exo-suit.

How does it play? Engineers are the "pet class" but it's a very scaled-down version. A pet requires an action slot to use, and while it's out that action slot then becomes a unique action for that bot. That's it: each bot has one skill instead of pet talent skills and six additional abilities. You can also use every single bot if you really, really wanted to (it's not effective though). The Engineer doesn't always have the longest ranges, but it does sport some rather wide conal telegraphs to facilitate tanking a bit more. They build and burn volatility, although some AMPs give you bonuses for being "in the zone" which is keeping volatility within a specific range.

The Exile temp guild is currently on the Mikros server, you can message me as Gantz (main) or Flintwick. There are some other PAers that might be on as well if you need to find someone to message to join.

Once the game starts we will be on the same server as the Dominion guild, named Dont Mess With Nexus by popular vote (game doesn't allow for apostrophes in guild names, grumble). Sign up on the master spreadsheet if you would like to join the Exiles!

Right now we are voting on the guild mark:

I can see why people aren't particularly happy with it, but yeah the people going on and on about it are zealots. For me it's really a "meh" thing, to them it's like the freakin end of the world.

For those wondering what the controversy is: you get the name tied to your account globally (since I assume the servers aren't decided yet) for 90 days. People are going insane mainly because they want a chance to get their "ideal" name and think that newbies will have a better chance, since they will be leveling a toon with a name they don't like.

Yep. Though I think think the fact that its reserved across all servers, even the EU servers was another sticking point. I get that they don't want to release the go live server list yet, and reserving across all servers is the solution. But damn, that's gonna be a lot of names locked down game wide.

  • Regina FongRegina Fong Allons-y, Alonso Registered User regular
If you can only reserve one name, who cares if it holds it for 90 days?

Most games let people reserve like 8 names on level 1 characters who then never get played and sit there, holding those names for-fucking-ever.

And people will defend their right to hold names on unplayed level 1 characters in mmos they no longer play to the death.

Then there's the people who make a character with the same name on every server even though they will only ever play one because it's "their" name and no one else can use it even though it will never affect them and they're never going to bump into these other people because they're on completely different servers.

Protip: If the only way you can be happy in a video game is to diminish someone else's gaming experience please take a hard look in a mirror and consider what kind of person you are.

I think in part it's a) people are apparently only happy with one name and if they can't have it because another person gets it on all servers they go nuts b) they have other alts in mind in conjunction with (a or c) c) there is a very strange logic where they go "newbies have an advantage on getting the names when they run out while we are playing toons we don't like"...

kinda ignoring the fact that it would still come down to luck.

    Additionally~

After you get to Illium/Thayd (around 15) you might end up without a quest leading you to the next zone. This happened to me on the Dominion side, but I'm also pretty sure I dropped it (Hycrest Insurrection) like a fool when I was clearing out a bunch of extra quests I didn't need.

At any rate, the next zones are Auroria for Dominion. You can take a taxi to Hycrest from the Illium spaceport.
For Exiles it's Galeras, which is next door to Thayd to the East.

This might not actually be all that useful, but seen it come up a few times.

Sounds good dude, just gonna plough through the starting quests again in the meantime.

@Beezel just wanted to clarify in the OP that the temp guild name is Planetary Acquisitions and the final will be Dont Mess With Nexus.

I forget what the final Dom guild name was going to be. Nexus Zoning Committee?
