I'm just a dumb process engineer so all that is whoosh over my head.

But know I know the feeling. Those calculations where if something goes wrong people can get hurt or tons of money can get lost are the worst.

When our plant was starting up a few months ago it was nerve wracking waiting for status updates and trying to help them fix issues on the fly.

So my lady applied for a job in Mid-April, applications closed the last day at April. As of now, we haven't heard anything back, which my lady assumes the worst. However, it being a university posting at the campus rec, and school ended the 7th, with graduations going through the 10th, I figure it may take some time to hear back this week or the next week.

Anybody care to corroborate my unfounded beliefs, or have any suggestions on what to do after?

It's possible that she might end up hearing back, but since it's been so long I'd probably tell her to assume she did not get the position. If she does hear back, that's a great surprise, and if not she's already moved on. Good luck to her!

I really do wish companies would give the courtesy of letting candidates know if they're not being moved to the next round, especially after an interview. A form rejection for applications would also be nice, but that's probably too much to ask of HR departments. It's hard not to feel after dozens of applications with no acknowledgement that you would be better served setting your own resumes on fire

Hey, that's good DL, it's probably for the best that you're there as a positive influence. It's easy to get down when job searching, so maybe you're balancing her out.

Sorry if that came off as a bummer, I'm in a similar position to your lady and am in a bit of a funk. You probably shouldn't listen to me on this, as I'm feeling a tad bitter. She may still hear!

Well she just got her Master's and has a decent amount of experience for her age and we'd both like if we could move in together while I'm finishing up my grad degree to our own place, and work at the same university, but we both recognize that may not be an option.

    It will all work out!

It is now hot enough that I can't do anything outside without starting to sweat, I'm going to have to bring an extra shirt or something to change into because I really like getting off the train a stop early and just walking that little extra distance

why would god curse us with temperatures over 70

Yeah, my work doesn't have a shower. This time of year, I'm able to bike to work and not worry about being a horrible stinky mess all day.

Before too long though, I'll have bus to work and stick my bike on the front of the bus (finding a bus with a rack, as many of them don't have one), killing almost half of my daily exercise and making my commute take longer in the process. :(

I don't sweat very much, but when it's gross enough outside and I feel that one bead of sweat roll down my spine I just feel so gross.

    Nope. Going inside. Showering forever.

It's a little different if I'm actually working out or doing an activity where I feel like I earned it.

    Humidity. :(

I live in a place which is pretty much always between 60-100% humidity from June-September. That combined with temperatures over 70 and physical exertion would make a camel sweat.

In high humidity, in the sun in southern parts, it's sweltering.
