Congratulations! I really wish we could get out of Bronze in 2v2 but it seems like every time we work out a decent strategy we come across 5-6 players in a row who counter it perfectly without scouting it. Admittedly we are fairly rubbish at scouting until the Protoss gets an observer up.
So far our best two strategies have been:
(We are ZP, we use this against ZZ,ZP,PP) Protoss builds up zealots and a couple of cannons, moving to Colossi when they are affordable, but this is mostly on two bases. Zerg goes fast Mutas from two bases (Only starting up the second base when the spire is going up to make sure we get the spire as quickly as possible). This means we usually have a spire around the six minute mark and if the Protoss can donate some gas we can get 10 or so Mutas up really quickly. If we can land a killing blow with this we're fine but we struggle to transition if they start putting down lots of cannons or holds us off long enough until they can outbuild us on Mutas with their superior economy. Stopped doing this against Terran because of Thors mostly, seemed to come up against loads of them.

(Against Terran) Zerg masses Zerglings to stop any expansion if it's on a map where they have to move down the ramp, then goes Lair tech and gets Baneling speed while Protoss builds up Stalkers and gets blink. Once the Stalkers are ready we blow up the front gate and try to get the standing army with the banelings and then the Stalkers blink around the base and try to disable their production while more zerglings stream into the base. If necessary Zerg transitions into Roaches/Ultras if we're against marines or Mutas/ Hydras if it's anything else. This works well if we manage to keep expanding steadily, if we get trapepd in our base we run out of money too quickly to be able to keep up an attack and then we can't fend off a counterattack.

Any suggestions on things we could do to improve?

Abandon gimmicky plays entirely and play for the long game. Nobody playing 2v2s is going to be able to play well in the long game and if you practise a defensive mindset you will do much better.
