I'll have to see if I can find my lioness reference when I get home but the pose was based directly on a photo. The front right paw (her right) was supposed to be planted but without a ground plane, it's kind of ambiguous.
Ah, It makes more sense as planted, but it doesn't read quite right. Perhaps because it is slightly higher than the hind leg, which looks raised, and without some sort of grounding plane I'm assuming the ground is flat. Is the ground uneven in the reference?
Here's the ref. You're right that it looks odd out of context. I should have leveled out the pose since a floating figure like this sort of assumes a flat "studio" background.
Having fun playing with the watercolor brushes. They're great for just putting some rough colors on a sketch. They tend to look better the less precise you are.
Got a pack of Strathmore sketch cards a while back and have been meaning to try them out. Did a "test run" by re-creating Catwoman and the Joker from the Batman villains I drew last summer.
Has there seriously been 5 years of homestuck? I just... cant even believe that shit.
Dmac, you should make some stickers, and then send me some stickers. Those shot glasses would make great stickers. I mean, anything you make would, really.
Some of my pieces from the recently released Emerald City setting for the Mutants & Masterminds RPG. From top to bottom: Ultramarine, Max Mars, and The Rubber Bandit.
I have a niece or nephew arriving in August so I'm working on a bunch of colorful animal art for the nursery. These are going to be framed at different sizes and hung around the room.
Have you ever considered making a society6 or other print on demand store front? I don't know how much money those things generate, but I feel like you could do pretty well with stuff like this.

You may have to redraw the front paw to make it look more natural though, I'm not sure if its worth it.

That trailer was pretty cool, I do like how they handled Groot.

Every one of your marks matter. Not a one could be removed without detracting from the quality of the piece.
You make it look so simple.
