    That was great.
    I was disappointed we switched away from Korra's story right after that stinger with Zahir and co. But the air nomad story is pretty cool too.

    While racing light mechs, your Urbanmech comes in second place, but only because it ran out of ammo.

    But shortly after that point, you'd get to ride a flying bison.
    It may not make up for the lack of baby bison hugs, but it's an excellent consolation prize.

    I imagine the name is just as much a reference to the Japanese term used to refer to someone who is just incredibly obsessed and knowledgeable about their hobby/topic of interest as it is a possible joke about some Western fans of Japanese media.

    It works marginally well as the other term as well. We haven't seen if he has a super obsession with various air nomad stories (closest equivalent I could think of) just yet. Give him time to evolve into a more 1 dimensional character.

    Is anyone else seeing even more huge parallels between the Earth Kingdom and China this season? Almost to the point of prophecy, even.
    Earth Queen insisting that Zuko and Aang took Earth Kingdom land to make Republic City, similar to the US in post-WW2 redefining borders in the Southeast Asian waters, the ones that China's currently been encroaching. The society is divided between the incredibly wealthy governing class and the miserably poor lower class. Not to mention that most poachers today sell to the Chinese.

    I know that, to a limited extent, the Earth Kingdom was sort of supposed to be WW2 China to the Fire Nation's WW2 Japan back in TLA. Seems to me like the creators have gotten a lot more direct about it.

    Earth Kingdom's loaded with China imagery. Their written language and most people's names are even Chinese.

    Edit: And the empress is straight up Empress Dowager Cixi.

    Aang couldn't metalbend? Despite being trained by Toph, having her earthbending technique and being the Avatar? And presumably dealing with metalbending cops on the reg. seemed surprising.

    Honestly it doesn't surprise me that much. He was never a big fan of earth bending and he had enough power to not really need it. Aang also doesn't strike me as the type to perfect his craft without an immediate need since he could spend that time riding on the backs of giant fish, or shooting pies at random air acolytes.
