I started doing a comic series for Apple Insider. They posted the first strip today.

Check it out and let me know what you think:

    ai-comic-091005.png

Is there a way I can put a white box around this PNG so you can see the whole thing?

I made this simple adblock to put on their home page:

    Its very blah. Any suggestions?

Are you saving it on a transparent background? Should just be able to flood fill a white layer under it.

Oh, I didnt mean editing the image. I sent them the comic on a white BG but it looks like they removed it and changed the jpg to a transparent ping. I just wanted to know if I could wrap a white box around the image in a DIV in this forum.

On the first panel of your Apple Insider comic (which is great, by the way), you might wanna join that guy's two word-balloons together with a little stem or something. Otherwise it might be hard to tell which dude is speaking.

Holy crap! I think its behind the balloon below it. I cant believe I missed that since this comic went through about 200 revisions. Thanks for the feedback!

Not even kidding, Loneliness was in the original draft. Originally there were about 16 panels but I couldnt do them all and make them work. One was:

    Your parents can:
    1) Fuck off
    2) Go Fucking kills themselves. I dont care
    3) Continue being asshole robots.

Someone else pointed out that the way I had it drawn wouldnt work in the game. Damnit. I wanted it to be accurate in the comic but I think I agreee that it looked better before.

    Should I change it back?

Artistic license is nice. This is a situation where it might be good to make use of it. :P

In a game it looks fine because you're moving, but in a still comic it looks awkward. You could just adjust the motion lines to indicate that he's moving down, not forward.

Thats what was getting to me. I wanted it to be as accurate to the game as possible but in the end, its just a silly comic. These arent technical drawings here.

The speechbubble/portal hit me at the last minute and I think that makes up for the wrong portal physics.

Thanks for the feedback. Unfortunately most of my regular readers have already seen it the other way.

Your comic is still pretty new. I think the people frequenting it now will understand if you want to modify it after it's posted. Even PA gets tweaks when there's an error. :P

    HA! I say. HA!

I dont think ive posted one yet where I didnt at least go back and fix a typo. I am usually finishing these at 1am so the margin for error is high.

Matter of fact, the AC has pointed out about 5 typos that I still have to go fix.

That particular comic has only had about 1000 views today, so there are still plenty to see it in the revised format.

Actually the wall-to-wall in the last panel makes perfect sense in the context of the game. All he has to be doing is coming through the blue portal with momentum from a fall, and then fire an orange portal on the wall he sees opposite him. Perhaps out of fear of smashing his face.

You could always have it be a floor-ceiling portal, with him halfway through the floor portal shouting that. His feet could be hanging from the ceiling portal.

    @.Tripwire.
This explanation is perfect and is exactly what I will say if anyone ever questions my portal physics again. Plus Ive already established that Eli HATES smashing his face, so that fits in with my continuity perfectly.

    @lyrium
I tried that actually but since you cant see the ceiling in the panel you wouldnt see the portal either. Also it covered up Coulton and Gabe.
