Well, the SQL server died again today, and the guys at HomeLAN bailed us out by hard rebooting the server. I've been exchanging emails with a tech guy at HomeLAN and he is making sure we get treated right. We are upgrading our MySQL server to the latest version of Gentoo, and maybe, just maybe... we might move over to MySQL 4
Readers Digest Version : Forums died. Fixed. Jason at HomeLAN is working to make things more stable.

mysql_connect(blah) or
die(include("mysqlisfucked.php"));
Then, when MySQL goes down, he'll include mysqlisfucked.php 100x (one for each connect). Instead, he should prefix the mysql* commands with an at sign (@) to supress the error warnings.
*Edit*
I noticed the die in there, so it won't get called 100x, but still, supressing the error is a better idea anyway
You seem confused BesigedB. Myself and Ramius are both pretty good at coding. We are both familiar with the basic concepts of programming. My not patching the main site is not on account of the fact that conditional expressions for error handling is a foriegn concept, it lies in the fact that I do not manage the mainsite. It is not my area. I have the UNIX permissions to do so, its just for the most part I dont.
If you noticed, when you tried to access the forums while MySQL was down, there was a nice error message.
I'm way sick right now and I know Im comming off a bit bitter, so Im going to sign off.
I realized what is causing this. When the INSERT DELAY's finally run, they take about 60 seconds of time, causing a major backup in MySQL. The solution? InnoDB. I'll send an email to HomeLAN by Friday.

My Seagull - it's a reference to a domesticated representative of a bird species that lives (mostly) along coasts. How that his causing him problems, however, and what he wants Alpha to do about it are beyond me.

Unfortunatly his summon was countered by the curse of the working man.
Be good to get MySQL 4 on though. Soo much extra stuff
It just looks so unprofessional and shit.
Would suffice :?

Just wanted to let you know that I've gotten the "forums are down" message like 4 times in the last 10 mins while browsing the forums.
