Efficiency, but not for the customer. Lowest bidders with shit service win business so the bottom line of the company doing the hiring is better. Customer loses out, cunts win.
Some days I would like to get hold of everyone in the world who thinks private companies are naturally more efficient and better for the customer and burn down everything they love.
We need the Vetinari approach where the head of such groups implicated in foul play are subject to very unpleasant stuff.

Tested them 21 years ago and they didn't actually design the specific modell used now, mind
Also that was the first time most of us heard about a stavanger engineering company making space tech (if its not related to oil or offshore it feels out of place)
Also, zaptec is a good name for a space tech company. Woe betide them if they dont make blasters at some point. The world needs there to be Zaptec blasters because not enough things are names like theyre from a cartoon

@simonwolf I had not yet gotten to the big finale so Prince was not yet on my mind. But yes, he fits the movie perfectly. It's a movie about megalomaniacal costumed narcissism, which is like Prince's middle name.
did Iron Man start off that trend with superhero movies?
if so, a lot of DC's films haven't learned the lesson to take away from that one
you can get away with not showing the Iron Man suit until halfway through the movie because Tony Stark's real superpower isn't the suit, it's his intellect - he's got his Power at the start of the film, he just doesn't have his Direction yet
(this is kind of the same for most of the MCU's main characters, though Cap'n is the opposite: Steve Rogers always had direction, the needle of his compass was stuck pointing toward good, and the power he got is more of a tool to help him do things he probably would've tried to accomplish without it if he could)
compare this to Superman in Man of Steel, who has his Power throughout the movie, but we never really get that solid moment where he finds his Direction
Tony Stark found it in a cave with his life on the line, with one of his own guns pointed at his head
Clark just sorta has a string of half-moments
he lets his dad die, and then he finds his CGI dad and he tells him some stuff about leading mankind into the light or whatever, it's actually pretty creepy
and some assholes threaten the planet and then they threaten his mom and then they've got a gizmo that's doing a thing and like
there is no real catalyst for his transformation
he just sort of does things because they're things maybe Superman does, but the movie does such a poor job of showing us what provided this direction that it seems like the only reason he really commits to doing those things is because he found holodad and the family spandex

I have yet to actually delve into those news
Except a lokal piece from my hometown going "we tested that harpoon that may have failed so this is embarrassing"

This is why I have stopped using Amazon
Literally anyone else is less hassle

I'm giving him Duplo for his second birthday this weekend
slowly bringing him into the fold
On the basis that they are so aggressively shite that there couldn't possibly be any other reason why they'd use them
I was expecting either a member of the Supreme Court or a Judge Dredd character.

I keep seeing people make fun along these lines all the time.

That's an insult to the people who operate submarines.

Been to say my goodbyes now. Glad I did. Hadn't had a chance to yet because it all happened while I was out last night.
Boy that sure sounds like fun!
But in a sweet roll? That is unacceptable.
My old MAMP version stopped working.
New MAMP version doesn't have the PHP extensions I need for Laravel.
Vagrant VM box, here I come.

Oh, Yosemite just worked.
It's all the development crap I need on top of that that broke.
Homebrew thought it was a good idea to use a hard-coded path to the system Ruby, and that path changed in Yosemite. Boom.
