It'd be like saying "you know who we should bring back? That fucked up version of Superboy from a universe where Superman is a fictional character and he's just a crazy asshole, and ignore the specific story context he was made for and instead make him the core of a major comic book event"
good thing DC never did that, eh

Yeah. Instead they just said "Hey, let's have Kurt Busiek do a mini about that idea. Only, you know, without the asshole and with the context. That would be cool."

I will give DC credit for having the nerve to show so much open contempt for their readers in how they made Superboy Prime into a parody of comic book fans. They couldn't insult the readers more if they had pictures of Didio giving the finger on every page.

You know when you are wearing baroque space armour and wielding some sort of space staff, your entire body wreathed in a corona of eldritch purple lighting, wearing a fucking gat on your waist kind of de-glamourises the whole look

The Slurpee machine will have cherry and blue flavors, and then you will realize that the Slurpee machine is Galactus.

like he was literally created to serve as a personification of everything wrong with comics in the 90's.
look at him, he's basically a distillation of Lee/Liefeld/McFarlane characters of that era
he was Image Comics made flesh
taking him seriously is the worst
Magog isn't cool or a legitimate character in other contexts
he was a symbol for the themes of Kingdom Come.

And they did and it was!
Why I fear the ocean.

Hahaha, I didn't even notice the gun the first time around because my eyes rolled up into my sockets when I saw Magog's face
Steam
Apparently the pages and all dialogue from characters that aren't Marvel read right to left like normal manga
But the Avengers' dialogue is left to right like American comics
That's
Pretty great

On one hand: Punisher... good? naw no way
On the other hand: Matt Fraction
I am conflicted.
It's hit or miss. Fair warning that Howard Chaykin is the artist in the last volumes.
Remender also wrote a good run on Punisher!
