Seriously? PGR has been my favorite real car (so, not Mario Kart) racing series since the second game. It just feels like the perfect balance between sim and arcade to me. And PGR4 is the best of the bunch from what I've played.

Not to mention it is sooooooooooooooooooo much fun to bump people around online, often times causing them to spin out and lose the race, and have them get so pissed off at you that they yell obscenities over their mic.

    Yes, I'm an asshole. ;)

I wish I actually had TIME to play all my games. Still have not finished Bioshock. Blue Dragon is sitting there dying for me to get hours in. Playing my dynastie at NHL08. Playing online in Halo 3 takes a bunch of time but fun. With only 2 hours a day, I can't do these games justice... and MORE FUN AND GREAT games keep coming in... PGR4, Still not sure I'll buy it. The PGR series is my favorite racing game but it require so much time to get most of it...and I have those other games to finish, then Mass effect, Rockband and Assasin creed are coming before the end of the year...

I actually kind of sort of started to get used to the bike cockpit view when I was forced into a Suzuki for a career invitational event (and I decided to take the game's word for it that I was doing an off-the-seat stunt), but it was a pretty wide-open and uncomplicated St. Petersburg track. I'm guessing I should keep Dramamine handy if I want to do that Shinjuku track with the 360+ spiral ramp.

Its weird, i usually hate racing games..even "crashing" games like burnout, but i'm having a blast with this..the only think i hate is in career mode when towards the end of a championship i'll hit a race thats virtually impossible with the car i picked..and theres no way to restart from the beginning with a diff car that i know of so i'm stuck replaying over and over until i get extremely lucky

Yeah..i came in dead last and lose the championship..i managed to struggle to the last race getting first and seconds with many, many restarts but finally i just gave up..i'd picked the Benz CLK-DTM AMG..which it turns out i can't drive at all, ev ery turn no matter how slight or how slow would send me into a series of power slides which would cut all my speed before i got out of them..i was all over the track D:

If you want an easier time in the stages, pick a vehicle that has a rating of easy. That doesn't mean it lowers the difficulty of the stages, it's just the difficulty in using/racing the vehicle.

That car is pretty easy to drive if you use the analog control on the gas. Like don't either just be gunning it or not using the gas at all, ease onto the pedal as you start to accelerate.

So.. am I the only one that is disappointed and will trade in PGR4 when Mass Effect comes out? I've only played the first PGR so I am a bit behind in the times...

You don't get to break your cherry on a car and get used to it, they're just thrown at you randomly. The track map in the lower left corner is small and un-detailed that you can't get a feel for what is coming up most times, and there are so many cars being thrown at you that its next to impossible to find your niche car and stick with it seeing as physically you don't get the same cars.

Score one for a should of rented.

I'm enjoying it quite a bit, and I've never really been a fan of PGR. I think that's mainly because I played so much Metropolis Street Racer on the Dreamcast that I was just sick and tired of it when PGR rolled around. Never really played 2 or 3. This one I'm having a lot of fun with, mainly because of the variety between the vehicles, motorcycles especially. The biggest kicker for me was the snowy Nurburgring (hard as fuck) invitational that made my head hurt when I lost it by 7 seconds thanks to not being able to control that fucking car. Even though it was hell to play through, it was just so beautiful. The snow effects are just wonderful.

I just bought the car pack with the 4 high-end Ferraris, and I can't wait to give 'em a whirl.

I dunno, I play with the map off entirely. Have you tried both the zoomed out and zoomed in map options?

You can usually choose from the set class in a championship, so theoretically you could have an F car, an E car, a D car, and so on to get used to and really good with.

It was hard at first, but eventually you just start to get the hang of how you're suppose to handle that car. You'll still screw up sometimes, but with far less frequency. It's pretty easy to beat, actually. They give you more than enough time to beat it. I had several minutes to spare by the end of it.

Now the hard one is the time versus kudos challenge. The race is timed, but you can stop the clock by earning kudos. You're tight for time the whole race, and I beat it with only a second to spare.

it's an arcade game, i have no reason to turn on manual.

even in forza i'm on automatic right now. I never remember to shift gears when using a pad. I need a wheel.

This is in spite of driving an actual manual car all the time.

I started racing bikes on my career game and I've noticed that cars pretty much beat them in every way. Not only do 2/3 of the cars in any given Grade match the bikes acceleration, the top speed on the bikes is horrendous. While I can use the one advantage left to the bike and take corners fairly quickly, I still have to abuse the AI and block them from passing me the old fashioned way, which doesn't work on real players, since they'll just plow through you and send your bike flipping.

    So, nerf cars, mirite?

Heh, I blew that race by a full minute. I only completed it because I thought I would be able to keep the 10k kudos that I earnt even if I didn't finish the race; this was not so.

With practice, I could have completed it in time. That car gets a good top speed, but man if you so much look at a curve the wrong way, it's donut time.
