I've only gotten attacked by like, 5 eagles total

    dholes on the other hand

    they just ruin fucking everything

God Damn you guys make me want this game

    It is really good metal!

I've never seen a game have animals be assholes as much as in this one!

It is somehow endearing though, I'm not sure I'd want another Far Cry without animals being total jerks.

Maybe not more dholes, though. fuckin dholes.

The animals being annoying and insanely hard to kill compared to humans is definitely a feature, I think

The fact that a pack of wild dogs can completely ruin my day keeps me on my toes

Are the animals actually bigger assholes than in the last game? That is awesome

They all make unique noises too

So you'll hear the distinctive sound of a honey badger or dhole and immediately lose all sense of composure and start flailing around wildly for it.

The eagles didn't bother me too much but they are extra sinister because they sound a lot like the non aggressive birds so you start to learn to go on guard for no reason.

I don't know why it isn't annoying but it really isn't. It's just funny, even when they ruin your day.

Yeah, even in farcry 3 I'd start laughing every time my death came at the hands of the local wildlife.

This. It only takes 10-15 shots, the tricky part is finding a spot to safely shoot from, and then finding another spot after the rhino runs away and you have to go looking for it.

Oh the bow is great yeah, I'm just trying to mix up the weapons I use in 4 because the bow and a sniper rifle was all I really used in 3

They've added a lot of really neat weapons this time!

I keep a shotgun on me at all times mostly for the animals. The 1887 will put down a lot of the larger beasts in just a couple of blasts. Makes pretty short work of a pack of dholes as well.

It's not super effective against rhinos, but it works well enough. Soften one up with whatever mid or long range weapon you have and just pull out the shotty when it gets close enough.

Really though, the shotguns have a pretty surprising range in this game and are great for a ton of situations.

Rhinos don't realise they could push down pencil-thick trees, but are big enough that you can shoot them from the opposite side.

Just keep a tree between you and the rhino and you should be fine.

Man, there's something about this game I just absolutely adore

I can't find the right word for it, but I guess a longer description would be that I love that I never feel completely safe?

Like, yeah, sure, I'm to the point where if I get the drop on a patrol I can stab 3 of them and throw a knife at the 4th guy without taking a shot

But the thing is that immediately after I'll be jumped by a tiger or a honey badger or a pack of wolves, and suddenly be in great danger, and that can happen almost anytime

Like, I feel perfectly capable, but I definitely haven't hit a point where I'm too powerful, and I'm not sure I'm really going to

That was one of my favourite things about FC3. Late game I was the big boss of murdertown, cleaning out encampments without breaking a sweat, but if I wasn't careful enough I'd turn around and two tigers would chew my head off...

I do like to keep a shotty in case I get ambushed and the grenade launcher for raining down death from the Buzzer, and then the last slot is a wildcard.

Standing around with some friendlies when one screams "dogs!" a dog runs up and bites a dude in the crotch killing him instantly. The other guy kills the dog and screams "It's over! It's finally over!"

I guess this demon crotch eating dog had been hunting them for a while.

so as far as the story goes

I found the ending pretty anti-climatic.
would it have been any better if I had chosen not to just shoot people?

How would you have felt about spending $60 for a 20 minute game?

I agree with you on the ending.

I haven't beaten the game yet, but I think I'm on the home stretch

In any case I think I'm far enough in to say that if the game managed to unite its disparate story elements into something a little more cohesive, and also gave Ajay more (any) development as a character, it would probably be one of my favorite video game stories in a while

As it is, it's serviceable and I don't hate any of the characters, so it's leagues ahead of 3

Am I supposed to have the Hurk missions unlocked yet, or are those not yet available for download if you got the season pass?

The only thing they added to this that I super don't like is that sometimes Pagan's guys will attack an outpost of yours and you gotta go defend it
It's always right after I fast travel to one of them so I can drive to a mission, then I gotta turn around and go back and do that
I hate defending territory I've already won an these are never fun

There was a piece of paper with a code for them thst came with my "limited edition" on PS3, but I haven't downloaded them yet.

They might be exclusive to the "limited edition"? I'm not sure, sorry.

Well, I know that the Season Pass advertises itself as having them

What I've heard is that they'll be made available for download by everyone at some point, and at that point the season pass holders will get it for free

Which seems...weird to me, but fine

Just ignore it. At worst you might lose a little bit of Karma, which is super easy to get back.

I actually kind of wish they could take the outpost back

Making it a constant back and forth is something I would really enjoy, though I imagine for most people it would also wear thin pretty quick

  • Options
knitdanknitdan In ur base Killin ur guysRegistered User regular
It would also make taking the fortresses worth something besides "this is a really big outpost".

As it stands all taking a fortress does is
    1. Give you a new supersize outpost
    2. Stop the attacks on outposts in that region

But as Has been pointed out, you can't actually lose the outposts, so it doesn't really matter all that much.

Maybe the next game should have difficulty modifiers like character action games do, so that you can toggle stuff like retaking outposts on or off when you start a new file

Unless that's one of those things which is impossible to do for some reason

It says to do story missions to lower the difficulty of a fortress but I'm not seeing a real good indicator of whether that's happening
