    I only said it once.

Although told as an "Elseworlds" tale, the characters and their universe are part of the greater DC Comics continuum. According to DC editors, the Red Son universe is one of the new post-52 Earths, each of which represents a different incarnation of the standard DC comics characters.[1] Indeed, the Red Son Superman has made appearances in other comics, notably near the end of the fifth issue of Infinite Crisis as well as in Superman/Batman #22-#23. This version of Superman also bears strong resemblances to other variants such as the "Golden Age" Superman, who lived on Earth-Two prior to its destruction in the Crisis on Infinite Earths. Both share the Kryptonian name Kal-L, as opposed to "Kal-El", the name of both the pre-crisis Earth-One and modern versions. "Red Son" Superman is also extremely powerful, as was the Pre-Crisis Superman, and wields a number of super-abilities including such mainstays as super-strength, -hearing, and -sight, flight, and heat vision. He is also depicted as much more intelligent than the average human and is something of a "super-scientist." With the exception of "red sun radiation," which reduces him to a "normal" (or at least vulnerable) level, he has no apparent weaknesses.

Kryptonite is never mentioned, although Brainiac attacks Superman with unnamed green energy near the end of Red Son Setting, so it is possible that Brainiac either created a substance with analogous properties, or had encountered kryptonite during his time in space, analysed the planetary fragments in question, and concluded that they might be effective against Superman.

See, I'm torn on the "Elseworlds being in the Multiverse" thing

On the one hand, it could be neat to see how characters react to polar opposites of themselves, like Red Son Superman

On the other hand, why the fuck is New Frontier an Earth, they're the same goddamn characters

It strikes me as completely unnecessary. There's really no need to put rules or limits on how many different worlds there are out there. Universe numbers really have no place in a steampunk Green Lantern or a Booster Gold become Hitler storyline. Just tell the damn story and move on. Nobody cares what number it is.

The only people it seems to benefit is lazy editors that don't pay much attention to continuity anyways and anal-retentive fanboys.

At least that's the impression that I get.

is the red son superman that different from the normal superman

    uh, yeah

but it's mainly due to different circumstances. his personality is largely the same (he just wants to do good things) but his methods are different due to where and how he was raised. his altruism shines through in the end, though.
