Totally not at all meant to fit in with something from another company that sues that pants off everyone in their pseudo-legalese to try crushing competition.
I particularily like their commander on foot/marines (like a halo spartan/space marine cross), and their marine bikes. Which is funny because I initially was interested in their "decay" troops and hq, but the up close of the troops is underwhelming in comparison to the others.
I... Question your aesthetic? Because depending on size, how do those soldiers not fit, given they're used for sternguard or elite selection as a unit? Those bikes look vastly superior compared to any of the bikes officially out, and if they're of a decent size, the marines would fit well as centurions or grey knights.
Some of the official models are more questionable for fitting into 40k than these are?

Because the armor is heavily segmented versus imperial armor which is rarely sgmented, thats more of an eldar armor Aesthetic. The angles look wrong. In general they really look very different from 40k marines.

Those are more in the vein of Starcraft and/or Halo; not 40k. It's like an alternate reality where 40k was originally made by Blizzard.
Yeah, those are pure SF, instead of 40k's grimdark gothic retrofuture.

Kill Team La'rua Mal'kor Shi is ready.
I said in the painting thread, one poor dude had one of his antenna and a piece of wing tip come off while pulling from the sprue, then when trying to put him into a base (slotted base but the slot on the models was both too wide and too long), he snapped at the knees.
So I rounded off his foot and kept everything else so he's my "Feel No Pain" specialist.
Used the classic 'gold=better' shorthand for the Master Crafted weapon specialist.

Sure, you CAN easily use these models in 40k, but their design styles share so little in commen that I certainly wouldn't consider mixing them an existing army.
It's a game of the imagination! Though I never particularly saw regular sm as all that grim dark beyond the character models making heavy use of the skull and relics. Regular ultra marines never appeared all that dark to me, which is among the most common army selections. It always came down to the color selection and small modifications which made them fit into the seeing. Similar to grey knights, where most people paint them up in bright silver and bright medieval colours on the trim. For the most part they seemed like sci fi done up knights to me. These interest me since the bikes seem like an interesting themed group to paint up and modify.
I don't care about arguing against what everyone thinks, just explaining my take on it; they do look nice, yes? I'm curious how their scale matches. For the price and the options available, it seems like they're made in 40k scale. I'm mostly disappointed the "nurgle" option really doesn't hold up, especially against those berserkers which could be dropped into a game without much question.

I don't think any of them have a place next to 40k models. They're all straight out of DOOM. I would be totally into it if it were like a one-off Space Hulk/Crusade like board game or something. Like, I dunno, the DOOM boardgame.
As it stands I don't really see what they're doing. I'm a super laid-back guy but if you plopped those down and told me you had a space marine army you'd get such a look.
It doesn't help that I'm pretty much sick of kickstarters that are just minis.
The sleeveless grunt marines look right out of doom, but the full-armored marines are channeling the Starcraft 2 Marines. Which look way worse than SC1 Marines, but I've been waiting for a model for either for the longest damn time.
Surprised it took this long.
Doesn't look like they are multi-part or that posable though. Shame, that means Dreamforge Eisenkern troopers still take the cake for best multi-part trooper units.

Every other mini maker pack your shit up. There's no reason for you to keep trying anymore.

On that note, we're at 100+ pages. Anyone wanna make a new thread?

I think someone (@dayspring ?) said he was going to do it tomorrow... about a week ago. I'll take care of it now. I think we're still using most of the op from the last time I did it, which was when solo daemons were a new army. :hydra:

Holy crap, we started this thread in 2013? I remember when we were burning through threads every couple of months. Damn it GW, make yourself awesome to talk about again!

When this thread started, Assault on Black Reach was still the starter set.

Ugh, GW, why you gotta change so many URLs?
"High Quality resin miniatures for gamers and collectors that love Science Fiction."
This point system makes for the most confusing Kickstarter I've ever seen.
The prices are really terrible too for essentially monopose models, even if the detail is pretty good. At least when GW fucks you it leaves a bunch of bitz on your dresser when it leaves in the morning.

Which, if so, is fantastic.

Right, that's what I couldn't quite put my finger on. Yeah, they're straight out of Doom 3.
