Switching audio jacks on a laptop?

SCREECH OF THE FARGSCREECH OF THE FARG #1 PARROTHEADmargaritavilleRegistered User regular
My laptop has two audio jacks and the one that has always worked when plugging in headphones or earbuds or so on recently got 'messed up' and no longer works. There is another one right next to it, but it doesn't seem to work/be enabled. Is there anyway to make it so this second audio port is what I can plug my headphones/earbuds into so I can once again listen to stuff on my laptop without playing it out the speakers?

that's going to be a line in port, i.e. for a microphone, not speakers. I don't know of a way to switch it as it is a hardware thing. Your best bet may be to buy some kind of cheap USB audio card and use the line out for audio from that.
