I think the problem is that he dies fast which contradicts the whole warrior thing
Really Blizzard needs to drop the classes and assign potential roles instead
The first part is absolutely true. Thats why I said it was sort of a revelation. Thinking of anub'arak as "mislabeled" as a warrior and is instead a stun based specialist.
Not sure what you mean with the 2nd part. Do you mean the "warrior" or "assassin" roles should be more suggestions as to the heroes purpose?
Edit: Or are you saying they shouldn't be designing the heroes into the labeled class/role?
Am I insane or is Gazlowe the single worst character in any game, ever?
Holy balls was that game unpleasant to play. Never again.
I just tried him for the first time today.
I wouldn't say he's the worst. Anubarak is definitely less impactful than Gazlowe right now.
With Gaz, you can merc and push a lane pretty damn effectively. Like, super super effectively.
I liked him when I leveled him to 5 last time he was on free rotation. He's amazing at mercs, but can contribute pretty well to teamfights too. He's been on my "might purchase" short list for a while now. His ult-stunbomb combo wombo is ridiculously satisfying when you manage to pull it off in a teamfight. I found him to work particularly well in dragon shrine brawls due to his ability to zone enemies with turrets and bombs. I imagine he'd be good in sky temple as well, but that map hadn't been released yet.
The thing to realize about Gazlowe is that even though he's listed as a "melee" specialist, you don't usually want to melee with him in PvP, and his lazor is for situational use only. His damage comes from turrets, and they can be surprisingly deadly. As for the stun bomb, it's useful as a zoning device even when you fail to stun anyone with it.
Anub fell off the free rotation when I was just 30K XP away from lv 5. !@*&#@)!W*)@(W)@!
What are peep's Gazlowe builds?
I really like the atomic robo build because well, mercs and being special. ^^'
He's so squishy and has basically no escape so I'm wary of any kind of PvP (unless it's anub where I can just out-melee him).
So is murky actually pretty good now? Because I enjoyed playing him before the patch, and am thinking of buying him. And that bunny skin. I think I'm falling down the rabbit hole with these skins (pun obviously intended).
Murky is definitely solid. At least on octograb builds, I haven't done much with march. The one game I took it, ended up still feeling lackluster even with living the dream.

It could well be that Anub is a warrior like Sonya is one but with different strengths (more cc, less damage than Sonya but squishier compared to other warriors). He does have some good talents for pushing too. It's just weird since he did used to be more traditionally tanky.
That could be @Steel Angel . It is just odd because in WC3 he is incredibly tanky so as a "remember when", as heroes is supposed to be it doesn't really make sense. Plus as you mentioned, he was that way previously.

On top of that, Anub was an instance and raid boss in WoW and it's really weird for anything that required 4, 9, or 24 other people helping to kill as anything but tanky.

This is my default build. You can substitute superiority and/or robo goblin if you want to focus more on mercs / solo bosses. Add sprint if you have people chasing you down frequently. I really like Gazlowe, but sometimes it feels like you're not contributing very much.

Tried Gazlowe last night. The Most glaring problem is that you may as well just remove the laser ability in it's current state. It's too weak and he's way to squishy to self root for the insane amount of time it takes to really charge the beam for any damage worth a damn. I think maybe if you changed the laser to be more like Varus' arrow in League it may work. I think the turrets and bombs are mostly ok. The bombs are a big reward if you hit them. But you rarely will without some sort of CC combo from a teammate or his grav bomb ult.
It's actually interesting that this game has so many of those long activation time abilities with big pay offs. Jaina's circle ult and Murky's blowfish for example. It's odd that they are so all or nothing instead of maybe allowing you to detonate early for lesser results.

I think people are overly harsh I regard to anub'arak, or maybe I am biased and I may be literally contributing nothing when I play him.
Although I did have a sort of revelation last night in that I sort of agree with whoever said he is a weird specialist in the last thread. If you think of him like gazlowe with "better" stuns he can push/merc relatively effectively. The stuns can secure takedowns when teammates are around, otherwise they are used to support beetle pushes. Beetles themselves can soak tower shots and help with minion waves. His disadvantage in this scenario is without using a bunch of abilities (so you are borderline manaless after) you take a fair amount of time to take merc camps down.
I am by no means a high level player, but I don't have problems with Anub'arak, either. I will say, though, I usually won't play him when I'm solo queueing. If I have a team I can rely on that knows/expects how aggressively I initiate with him, we tend to have great results in most matches.

Murky's pufferfish is a holdover from back when it did quadruple damage to structures. It was designed to be used against things that didn't move.
Gazlowe's laser similarly feels archaic. It can be a good opening against merc camps who will happily let you charge away but so many other specialists have since arrived that don't have to wait to start beating up on mercs.
Murky's puffer is super weird since certain heroes like tychus or valla destroy it in half a second no problem. where other heroes like hammer have to run like hell or they're getting chunked for half their hp.

It uses the "hits to destroy" logic instead of hit points. And also gets weirder in that it has to be auto-attacks. Back in the day, Murky was a nightmare in the same lane as Abathur since Abathur had to melee pufferfish that were about to blow up towers and gates nearby.

yea i know, i just mean that it makes his puffer incredibly variable depending on who you're up against. in a lane with tyrande/tychus and your puffer is never going to go off, in a lane with stitches and hammer and it almost always will. just makes it hard to balance.
and back in the day murky was a nightmare in the same lane as anyone. because fuck old murky.

The problem with Anub is he should be tanky. Not cause he used to be or cause he was in WC3 or whatever, but because that's what his skill set is designed around. (or at least one of the things)
You don't give a warrior a charge+aoe stun and a shield and not expect that they will be charging in and CCing a whole team and then tanking. Anub just lacks the ability to actually use his abilities that way because they nerfed his survivability too hard and his shield basically sucks.
Monstrosity is absolutely ridiculous now if left alone. Teams playing against Abathur really need to prioritize killing it as if it were a merc pushing a lane. They mark it on the minimap, so teams need to get in the habit of squashing it as soon as it appears, just as if it were a pair of giants or knights.
People in quick matches with Abathur seem more interested in abusing his backdoor strat that opens up at 16 rather than the Monstrosity unfortunately right now...

Ultimate Evolution has been the go to for so long that it might take something like a video of what a fully upgraded monstrosity can do going viral. And then we'll be flooded by Abathurs using it at bad times or in bad locations for a while.

I'm still practicing with using Monstrosity right, but I think I like it a lot more than Ultimate Evolution now. The unlimited timer was really necessary.

Honestly, after Ultimate Evolution lost the ability to use ults I've pretty much always seen Abathur's take Monstrosity, especially after the first set of buffs (half damage from non-heroes). It allows him to still be effective as a hat and while it's bad in a teamfight, it's always been pretty solid at pushing. Ultimate Evolution is actually the ult I feel got the "better" improvement. On certain characters the boosted damage and ability power is huge; Jaina is ridiculous (though she was already great), but characters who can have a lot of impact outside of their ults, like Kerrigan or Thrall (if you can get a Windfury off) get a lot out of it as well. Even a morphed Illidan is a pretty solid threat because the base movespeed boost makes him way stickier and there's no way to fight the focus both Illidan's at the same time for most teams.
Also with this, I think he might have misread the Murky changes, because giving Murky double base regen and ridiculous scaling regen is a lot bigger than he thinks. Maybe he read it as .24 per level? It's enough regen that healing bubble is no longer a must-take talent, because you can get a solid amount of healing from any bubble.

Exact opposite for me. Never seen anyone ever use the backdoor strat but every Abathur I run in to in QM is slamming the Monstrosity on cooldown.
And that fucker is nasty unless you spot it quick and stomp on it.

I imagine for pro level players murky only exists in a state or full or no hp generally since they focus much better than us normal humans. If they even see him at all.
So Tyrande, no damage, no heal and a ranged stun? What is this hero...
Cast stun on an enemy hero, use Hunter's Mark as the stun is about to land, hit them with an owl + autoattacks and you've taken out a significant amount of health from a support or assassin. If your assassins and specialists focus on that stunned and marked hero, they're probably dead by the time they can move again.
Her healing isn't the greatest but it is respectable now and you're likely using it alongside healing ward in team fights. A ranged AoE stun and an innate way to increase damage on a target that most heroes have to talent into at level 16 are significant by themselves though.

Got any usefull tips for her? Right now looking at her I just get stuck at how her kit makes no sense.
It's like she wants to be in the fight dealing damage, but she does no damage, and her passive is to short range to actually be that usefull. And since her self heal is meh you don't wanna move into passive range anyway. So then she ends up as a ranged stunbot..
