A guy on SA's food forum makes veggie burgers using black beans and a bunch of grains that actually sound tasty, there is nothing wrong with a burger substitute, just don't expect it to taste like beef.
see, I'm a really nice guy to people that aren't retarded
beating the dead horse of a joke about how stupid vegetarians are is retarded and I'm going to say so
get over yourself

and no, you're not a very nice guy here. You're a douche. You can call me retarded all you want, but your actions speak for themselves.

I have a friend who has Celiac's and a friend who is a vegan, so out of politeness I will often be eating the same diet they are.
I could eliminate meat from my diet if I had to, for health reasons. There are plenty of non-animal based foods that I really enjoy and could use as staples. But I wouldn't bother with fake meat. I have had a black bean burger before though that was not that bad at all.
I just don't agree with the idealistic views behind the whole vegan thing. If you care that much, find a way to make a real difference.
1 16 oz can black beans
1 lb beef/chicken/turkey/etc.
1-2 packets of powdered burrito flavoring
Uncle Ben's microwave pouch Spanish rice
Mexican cheese
Salsa of choice
Burrito shells of choice
Cook the meat, add to non-stick skillet. Add water in accordance to burrito flavoring directions, burrito flavoring, beans. Simmer down. Microwave the rice. Fill shells with Meat and Bean mix, rice, and cheese. Top with salsa. Enjoy!

Man, being a vegetarian can be pretty fucking annoying.
On the one hand, you've got dumb assholes all making the same bad jokes and bad arguments.
And then on the other side, you've got the other assholes complaining that they can't find any nannies that will agree to not microwave their lunch in your microwave if it has meat in it, or that only eat organically certified, fair trade, single-origin peanut butter.
I don't want to identify myself in terms of my diet. I don't want to be in a club. I just want to not eat meat.

Do you honestly turn down nannies who want to microwave their meat in your microwave?
Why not buy a cheaper, "meat" microwave for said nannies if you're going to be so picky as to tell them what they can and cannot cook in your microwave?
A new microwave is like $90
Also, what effect does the microwaving of meat in your microwave have on your non-meat meals in the microwave?
I'm assuming that the Nanny would be insulted by a pitiful $30 microwave and microwave in the non-meat microwave anyway... So you have to sort of splurge on her in order to prevent said meat microwaving in the non-meat microwave.

I made some awesome meaty bean mix the other day.
Brown 1lb of ground beef (or ground turkey) with one diced medium sized onion.
Brown 1/2 lb of bacon
Mix in crockpot with:
1 can baked beans
1 can kidney beans
1 can butter beans
1 can lima beans
3/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup ketchup
1 tsp vinegar
2 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp salt
Warm it all up in the crock pot and enjoy!

Beans benefit from both the sugar and molasses in brown sugar. They protect the beans from cracking a bit, and give the sauce some sweetness and viscosity.

Not all soy burgers are bad but gardenburgers smell like death right after being heated up.
They can be absolutely delicious if they actually taste like the things they're made from.

Makes it sweet, duh.

I know, I hate myself for liking candy corn.
