Sorry I distracted the Love thread!
I will flesh this out (haha maybe this
is the love thread) later tonight, but I didn't want to be responsible for too much sidetracking.
Are you interested in cool architecture? Historic or modern? Both?
Fascinating landscape design?
Stunning interiors? Minimalist interiors?
This is the place for you!

Noooooooooooooo!!
Green Architecture Never
ohh okay shit just got real
someone hold my earrings
It was pretty cool I guess
I'm designing my own home. It'll be the bees knees!
(note that this is very much a work in progress)
Did you know Central Park was the first American Park to be designed for commoners and the rich to walk alongside? He was inspired after seeing Birkenhead Park in Merseyside, England aka 'The People's Park'. The paths of the park are really interesting because at the time it was common for the circulation in public parks to be divided into paths for pedestrians, bridleways and carriages, such Avenue de l’Imperatrice in Bois de Boulonge, Paris where the paths were separate. Central Park was to designed the paths parallel so that those who used the pedestrian walks would be close to those who used the bridle and carriage paths, so the poor could see the rich - it was revolutionary for the time!
See these cool carvings in the staircase balustrades?
The designers knew poor people couldn't read and write so they had the seasons, nature, images of laborers and farmers dotted around to show that they were important and could learn things without needing to read and write - which was unheard of at time!
There is so much more, but I won't go on.
oh wow - this looks awesome! What program are you using for the 3d modeling there?
when the ensuite is bigger than the main bathroom.
Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
no no! Go on!
Thats mad surely that ensuite would become the main bathroom because of its size??
2d = CAD 2015 (though it was started in 12)
3d = Revit 2015
The exterior box shot is just shaded which is why it looks so funky. The (partial) kitchen is rendered with custom materials. The floor is actually a jpeg of someones recycled pallet flooring (which my house will have)
The counters will be stainless steel with the backsplash connected to make one piece. No caulking to replace! It'll also be curved slightly at the joint so water cannot pool.

PROVINCE D'ANVERS I BERLAAR
PRICE UPON REQUEST
BEDS 10 / FULL BATHS10
Somebody ... somebody buy me this.
I need to be the prettiest princess.
basically all predesigned homes have the ensuite bathroom bigger than the main bathroom, usually because there's a bath in there and the main bathroom just has a shower.
which is silly, because kids take baths more than adults, unless it's a giant couples bath which it usually isn't.
Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
oh well, there's other cool stuff like even though it was designed to be accessible for the poor it made the land value around CP skyrocket so the poor then lived miles away and that kinda defeats the object. They also kicked a load of people living in shanty towns off the land which sucks.
There was the Sheep Lawn which is a long stretch of grass with sheep to look like the beautiful calming pastures of Europe, but for the first 70 years or so people weren't allowed on it, which to our modern minds seems so odd!
The statues were also off important people from countries where people were immigrating from to show "hey we recognise you guys as part of New York!" including Indian Hunter which was a statue of a Native American with the actual features of a Native American rather than a guy with European Features dressed up in Native American clothes, which was really unusual for the time because Native Americans were still undergoing so much rubbish at the time.
As you can tell I recently did an essay on CP and thought it was cool.
Dogg you could buy this one in Washington

ahhh thank god I'll hopefully not have to do revit! Good idea on the fall in the surface, I can't help notice a 2% fall now every time I stand on a surface or pavement and keep finding it in everything! Will you hand these over to a contractor at some point?
That is so daft!
sorry do you mean
this porn??
My plan is to run everything by the guys in my office first and then save save save save. I'm going to have a contractor do the shell, foundation/crawl/subfloor, chimney, well/septic, plumbing/electrical stubs, and geothermal. From there, I can manage the rest! I have a bunch of friends and family that know their way around a house
Awe c'mon dude I'm at work now I have to stay seated awkwardly at my desk for like 10 minutes
(Shamelessly taken from Centipede Damascus' tumblr)
Thats fantastic - it'll be amazing to have a place you made!
I think Le Corbusier had some really good ideas! It's too bad he was a fascist twit.
Anyway, here's Ice Cube talking about Ray and Charles Eames:

The Classical Orders of Architecture
Just to whet your appetite ....
oh, @JebusUD, I do work for an architecture firm
Need some stuff designed or printed? I can help with that.
Fucking
Desire
Paths
I bet that is an interesting job. I wonder if I could get an administrative position or something like that with one.
I think that'd be a place I'd like to work, but I'm no engineer.
But it loses its thread
YESSSSSSSSS!! Love me some desire paths.
The best thing is when schools/businesses/whatever go back in after 6 months or a year and just pave the damn desires paths
The worst is when they refuse to admit people will never go 50 feet out of their way to make a 90 degree turn just because the concrete says they should
Basically I'm surprised that @Rankenphile hasn't bought this up yet because it's p much made for him and Mrs. Phile
