So, I just got Destiny the other day. It appears I am essentially 2 DLCs behind the curve now. What's the best way to gear up for the raids, since I'm assuming the old ones won't really be run any more.
I need to find my laptop, it's got my exotics checklist, but I know it's one of the last ones I don't have that aren't specifically from a raid.
Hawkmoon may be the only one left.
I should really try to get into a VoG this weekend, both to see it and to try for the mythoclast. I also need a normal CE for my Warlock just so he can do lamps solo on Hard. And I guess I wouldn't mind a CE hard just to have at least done it. EDIT: but since I'm not quite 32 on any of my characters, I don't know that I could even functionally participate.
Ran the first four bounties, solo'd the bulk of one of the venus ones with a scorch cannon @ level 29; once the named showed up I had two with me and we burned him down. Got two of the golden chests so far - one legendary glove engram, the rest was misc.

old ones will still be run as
1) they are the only ones
and 2) old raid gear can now be upgraded to endgame level (when the new expansion drops)
No Backup Plans always looked too skinny to me. Like they suction your arms so tight that a Titan looks like a baby Hunter.
THIS IS WHY I LIKE THEM!!

Arc. Shotgun. Return to Sender is great. Ever since the PvE buff they absolutely obliterate hard targets, and they'll keep the bounty target stunned the entire time they're dying, too. fastest way to kill those bastards.

yeah, the new expansion has done some really cool things for keeping older content relevant
i would suggest going ahead and picking up the season pass if you can (will save you $5), just to have access to everything, but i don't think you need the new expansion to take advantage of the gear upgrades (just to get the newer gear from the new content)

I think that you may only have access to the first, and honestly the best, raid in Destiny, the Vault of Glass. I think you need The Dark Below to get access to Crota's End, but I could be wrong. I'm not entirely clear about what is gated off behind DLC access or not.
But, as I said, Vault of Glass is the better of the two raids, in my opinion. It feels a lot more coherent and like a long story unfolding. The encounters require teamwork in a manner not found in the other parts of the game.
And the stories that come from your experiences in it are great.
And the gear and weapons from it are very very good as well. In fact, two of the most sought after guns in the entire game only drop from there; Fatebringer (all hail!) and the Vex Mythoclast.
The Mythoclast may have lost some of it's original OP power, but it is still quite a good exotic.
And Fatebringer is just...that...good.
To gear up, you basically need to do what you can to get your Level up to as close to 30 as you can, for a Hard Mode Vault run. You can run normal Vault at 26, so you'll want to be 24-26 before you try it.
Take escorts/sherpas in with you. They will be invaluable at letting you both experience and figure out the Raid mechanics...or they can just tell you flat out what needs to happen. Either way, experience will help.
So, get up to level 20, then start grinding Strike playlist and/or Crucible along with factions. Buy armor from vendors and do bounties for rep.
And for now, DO NOT TURN IN YOUR PURPLE ENGRAMS! Hold onto them until when HoW goes live.
Destiny and expansion pass purchased. I think my enthusiasm for the game has got my friend who let me borrow his copy interested in playing again. I convinced him to purchase the expansion pass as well.
Is it possible to run VoG with two people on normal mode?
Looking forward to a long weekend of new content

VoG would be more difficult with two people, I would think, just because of how much of it relies on team mechanics
you'd probably need a lot of DPS at the start to even get in

Not having a mythoclast, I think 100% that Fatebringer being the best weapon in the game. VoG also carries the second best (in my opinion): Vision of Confluence scout rifle. Which you can get on normal mode.

If so, do shaders/emblems/class items boost that rep?
Edit: I don't want to be at work now. >_<

Oh, that's awesome! Thanks.
You can get rep for the Queen's Wrath event, yeah. For now it's just for the couple shaders and emblems she has available.
Shaders and emblems don't affect rep gain for them, but Nightfall bonus does.

I saw some people looking oddly at me in my Queen's Wrath colors, emblem, helmet and chest piece and fancy cape
if it's anything like the bounty target you ask on here and then figure it out ten minutes later :P

But I don't have ten minutes, man! No, really. One and a half minutes, I think.

Agreed. It's up. I will update the OP with HoW hype later tonight, I hope.
