Oregon Trail: The Phalla

Rules

Every month, you may !vote to leave one person behind for the bandits to find. You retract this vote using !retract. On odd months (1, 3, 5 etc.), there may be a decision to vote on. Use !vote A,B,C to decide or to change your mind.

Do not share your Role PMs using screenshots, forwarding, quoting, or any other means. You can share information from other PMs sent to you by the moderator.

In fact, here is the vanilla PM, which was sent to everybody:
A Settler

rolesmaybe.jpg

You're a settler. Watch out for rattlesnakes!

You will win the game if the caravan reaches Oregon.

Do not use anonymous means of communications. If you create a proboard for a group of people, send us a link, please.

If you are dead, do not post in this thread, except to say, "Aw, shucks, golly!" There will be a dead thread.

This Game

Some people may have special abilities. They should send the targets of their abilities to Bandwagon. Send questions or clarification requests to thorgot and robothero.

There is no conversion, resurrection, or randomness in this game. Abilities, both new and old, are present in this game.

Nothing is revealed upon death, with a single exception, because the covered wagons must keep rolling. You will find out how many bandits are left every four months, starting with the Month Four narration. Every other part of the narration is just for flavor.

The decision !voting can have real consequences.

Voting closes at 11 PM EDT. PMs and posts marked 11:00 or later will be counted for the next month instead. The first day of voting will end on Thursday, at 11 PM EDT.

    Opening Narration

    The Map
    trailmap.jpg

    day1open.jpg

And so the journey begins. Forty steadfast travelers and their families have banded together to travel from somewhere west of the Mississippi to somewhere even further west of the Mississippi: Oregon. The road will be long and hard. Children will go nights without food, disease will spread from wagon to wagon, and a guy in a buffalo suit might end up watching you from a distance while you bathe. But in the end, we will reach our destination. A new frontier, a new home, and a new beginning. A fresh start for everyone.

    Or will we?

Unbeknowest to both robothero and thorgot, the caravan leaders, an unsavory group had infiltrated the ranks: Bandits. Bandits with only two things on their mind: murder and robbery. While the general populace was ready to hold out through the winter, and had enough ammunition to put the buffalo to extinction, killing other men and women was not something they were readily prepared to do. There were tough decisions to be made; and there is still a long, long road to travel.

    The First Month begins.

On the first month of the journey, the caravan leaders have posed the following questions regarding our rations:

    1. Filling rations.
    2. Meager rations.
    3. Bare bones.

The bandits have also left a notice in the middle of the camp:

    4. Bandit Compromise: Surrender now and nobody will be killed. (Everybody except the bandits dies.)

Please choose which option you wish to follow in yellow. Each option has both positive and negative effects to the caravan, so weigh the choices wisely. Also, don't forget to vote on who we should leave behind in red. retract in lime.

    I lol'd.

    !#2 (meager rations).

We can always hunt for more food later, but we don't want to run the risk of 1 (running out of food) or 3 (running out of good men).

It is the Way of the middle that I choose.

I vote for !(#2) meager rations. Until we come across the endless waves of delicious, delicious buffalo, we must show a little reserve and forethought.

Ok, so, we only had one new phalla player this time round I think? Enc0re or something?

And yes, Vote 2. The OP says these votes have very real consequences. Maybe filling rations give us a +1 to roadblock/evilbandittrap or something, meager seems like a +/- 0 and bare bones a negative of some sort? and then there's maybe a stockpile of food that goes up or down depending on how much we've used up already and how many players are alive. That's my guess, at least.

Anyone have a suggestion as to how this could work?

Maybe there's an RNG roll each time we decide on rations, and the bigger the rations, the smaller the chance that someone dies to the RNG. Or maybe the smaller the rations the more the bandits steal because they're like "Well if they're not gonna feed us, then we'll just help ourselves."

I'll go with !vote 2 this time and see what happens.

I wonder if we'll get to decide on whether or not to hunt later on, and whether we can improve our chances on hunting.

Bullets = $$. You always stock up on bullets so you can hunt down everything that moves outside of town and trade the meat for wagon parts which you can sell to other travelers for mucho moola.
