James Gunn says that GotG 2 will have a smaller cast than GotG 1, so that the sequel can focus on the characters and give everyone more interesting arcs. He specifically says he wants to avoid the typical superhero sequel strategy of making everything bigger and more "end of the world" stakes.

He does say that he's going to introduce "a new character" so it sounds like the team is going to have one new member.

So I'm going to start getting the JL Darkseid War issues and as an accompaniment I'll get the JL volume 6 collection coming out at the end of the month, it's 10 issues at only 25 retail which is a pretty good deal. Despite the opinions of most here I enjoyed Forever Evil well enough (just the main series) and I want to check out the aftermath. Might get the FE tie-in volume as well.

It's as good as it's ever been. The post FE stuff saw the book re-energized in a big away, and the prologue and first issue of Darkseid War have been a blast. I will warn you though that the FE tie-in stuff was split between origin story issues for the crime syndicate, which were uniformly terrible, and a really awesome Cyborg story where he rallied the Metal men and fought the Grid.

So just avoid volume 5, gotcha.

I know everyone is thinking Adam Warlock, but I think they should do Moondragon. Have her be a powerful priest on Titan, whom the Guardians are involved in because of Thanos; and then have it revealed that she's actually a reincarnation of Drax's daughter, utilizing parts of Drax's comic origin of him dying and being brought back to life in a new form by Thanos' granddad.

I actually think Adam Warlock would be the coolest

But the team should get another lady

    So

    Lady Warlock please

For reals I would like them to bring in the other Guardians as they are more interesting than the team we see in the movie, and were more interesting in the comics too. Moondragon and Phylla-Vell would be cool. If Thanos is a Titanian, then they can bring in other Titanians too. Two more female characters in a relationship would be pretty groundbreaking for the MCU!

Moondragon would also be interesting because she'd be a visual reminder for Peter Quill of the last time he saw his mother, which they could tie in neatly with what I'm assuming the movie will be at least partly about, the reveal of his father.

Eventually, the Chlois theory did not become reality, but supporters of the Chlois theory point out that it doesn't matter if Chloe actually changed her name to Lois Lane. In their view, Chloe's character clearly demonstrates the characteristics of the iconic Lois Lane. In this "Names Don't Matter" version of the Chlois theory, Alison Mack's Chloe Sullivan has become the spiritual heir to the comic book concept of Lois Lane.

On the other hand, other fans have pointed out that it did become reality in a very different manner, stating that Lois has been taking over Chloe's traits, especially in season 8,[1] and many viewers have criticized the destruction of a character to build up another[2][3][4][5] while others claim it was an homage. However, as Chloe embraces her role as Watchtower, more and more viewers began to realize that Chloe Sullivan has her own calling, one that not even the "real" Lois Lane could have.

so what you're saying is, to the fans of the theory, she was chloise enough?

Honestly I've always thought that there really should be a sub-set of people who like the Punisher and what he does

Not that I agree with that sentiment at all, but Punisher MAX always had things like the Captain of an NY precinct literally saying that the Punisher was a hero as far as he was concerned, and he mentions that the head of the Sniper School at Fort Bragg has always been a big Punisher supporter since Frank Castle loaded him into the back of a Huey when he was shot up in Vietnam for a medevac.

There's the Cop and the Armoury Officer who both support him and I think that the book doesn't really seem to glorify the idea that the Punisher is this great hard man hero, but rather that it just contains characters who work with the Punisher and are okay and even support what he does because there are people like that and of course his support network would be made up of them.

Like, the military in the US is made up of people. Some of them are fine, upstanding individuals who would decry the Punisher for sure, and some of them are not that. And that's okay, you know, the fetishism of the military is something that I always think deserves a bit of a kicking in media.

Also the art is truly luverly, so it is

All of the gunfights, the tacticool gear and webbing used by Frank and the HC PMC, all that stuff

I also like that Domino turns up because AIM are involved and it feels very much like Frank is constantly bouncing his head off the superhero floor from below, you know, he's always getting entangled with that stuff and never really feels equipped to deal with it. I also thought Frank was, if not morally likeable, a bit more likeable in a character sense. He made some jokes, he was a bit more wry and hard-bitten, without making him any more merciful or pleasant.

I mean the problem is that there are quite a few real life US Soldiers that idolize/glorify Punisher and slap his skull on their gear, most notably Chris Kyle who I have a LOT of problems with, and while obviously I am not comparing them to Frank Castle I think Frank is an unrepentant psychopath monster and having people idolize him is super gross to me so I'd rather not have a comic acknowledge that

So I re-read Charles Soule's post from January about his upcoming projects and we know that of the 4 books he teased, 2 of them are Civil War (the one with complex themes and lots of Grey areas) and Attilan Rising (the romantic miniseries) which leaves the legendary character some of the best writers and artists in comics have worked on and the underutilized character he hopes to bring to new heights and has a corresponding blue skinned moleskin notebook for it (he has color coded notebooks for projects, he had a green one for She-Hulk).

I'm guessing he's on Daredevil because it is such a no brainer for him, and an interesting challenge as he hasn't really done a street level book yet and he'll be on the X-23 Wolverine ongoing since he wrote her path to the role in Wolverines and has been involved in X-Men editorial meetings for 2015-16 despite having no other X-Men titles besides Wolverines

I kinda figured Adam Warlock would play a part in the Soul Gem and possibly beating Thanos.

Oh wow, surprising, Bendis confirmed Tony Stark is in the suit and will have a new love interest in the series. His armor will be able to shift into one of 30 different variants at will and Bendis is intent on expanding his rogues gallery to fit his profile as a hero. He's also going to expand his supporting cast, saying "he needs more friends who aren't Avengers". We will also learn who Tony's birth parents are, picking up after Gillen's plot thread from his run.

Aw man, I was kind of hoping that it'd be someone new in the armor.

Definitely an interesting approach though. Bendis hasn't had the best luck with solo books over the years.

I'm gonna guess after the events of New Avengers and Superior Iron Man Tony is basically out on his own post-Secret Wars and has to start from square one, even more so than when he launched Resilent

Bendis says Rhodey will show up but not for a while as he wants to establish the new supporting cast first and foremost, and he says Tony will interact with some characters in the MU that he doesn't have much history with that will "shock" readers.

I served with a lot of people who would ask "why doesn't he just shoot them" when it comes to how heroes deal with villains. It isn't a good thing, but it's totally true to the military, and makes a good commentary if you want to see it that way.

We haven't really seen him since the end of Gillen's run, Superior Iron Man just kind ignored him.

Bendis says he was inspired after watching Iron Man 3, which he loves, and noticing when Tony picks up a screwdriver from the rubble of his destroyed mansion. Tony is focusing on moving past Superior and New Avengers and being a bigger and better hero than he ever has before. Bendis intends on emphasizing the inventor aspect of Tony, having him constantly tweaking and updating his armor and plans as well as being reminded that he can't just be complacent in his genius (a 15 year old MIT student hacks into his armor in the first issue) and has to always be looking forward.

It's definitely at least partially a personal thing. I find Tony's personality absolutely repugnant, most of the time. Combine that with the fact that I started following comic books and all that roughly around Civil War, and, well, he's always been a villain to me.
