That Iron Man stuff sounds great

I still think the events of New Avengers would've been enough to set up this redemption arc without a hokey mind inversion turning him into a cartoony super villain

    Bad

I think they were cool in the arc of Axis itself

Leaving any of them undone at the end was duuuuuuuumb, and Iron Man's in particular bugs me because like I said, that inversion totally wasn't necessary to write him into that character arc

I think in retrospect, Superior Iron Man seems like it was a fallback plan when Kieron Gillen left Iron Man earlier than expected to take the Vader book, and they had to plug someone in for something short term, already knowing that Secret Wars was coming 6-8 months later.

Flipping Sabretooth was okay, if only because Sabretooth as a villain was becoming way too played out.

Yeah I'm willing to forgive that one because the end result was pretty damn cool

You know, I know that Bendis confirmed it was Tony but I wouldn't mind if Bendis pulled a fast one in making it Ultimate Tony.

So many writers have had so much trouble with Iron Man as a solo character, it'll be really interesting to see if this pans out.

I'll be impressed if Bendis can make Tony's rogues gallery work. I don't think any writer has really pulled that off.

Fraction did a decent job updating a lot of Tony's rogues, I thought

Considering my favourite thing Gillen did was have Malekith guest-villain, I'd agree there's room for improvement with Tony's rogues

    Let's help them.

The Beer Baron, a villain composed of liquor, who goes to AA meetings to force himself on people. By peeing into their mouths. And that gets them hooked on it and they're willing to pay anything for more.

I've never finished a long-form Iron Man run. I jumped off of Fraction's because it was one of the first books to raise its price to $4, and because it started shipping almost weekly a few times in its run. I jumped off of Gillen's because I thought Arno was sort of a lame story and because I had no idea what he was doing or where he was going with his run. I could see myself doing the same thing on this version; reading the first 20 issues or so and then bailing out.

So it definitely sounds like Tony is without his resources in the relaunch, what with the Avengers not having any Stark funded backing.

I'm guessing Arno and/or Pepper took control of the company after his absence during Time Runs Out and are still pissed about the Illuminati/Inversion thing so Tony's on his own working on suits in his garage.

I was pretty alright with Superior when it looked like it was gonna be a secret Pepper Potts book and set her up as Iron Woman

But nope in the end Asshole Tony wins and the only real change from the first issue is that the public hates Tony instead of loves him

Super strength, healing factor, bestial nature with claws and enhanced senses.

Basically a bestial wolverine but with finger claws instead of shnk claws.

I agree that I would have preferred Iron Woman, although in hindsight Time Runs Out kinda established what was going to happen. Not to the point where it couldn't be written around, but still.

It sounds like All-New All-Different Avengers might be retitled New Avengers, since Jim Cheung posted an in-progress page (probably a cover given that the dude rarely does in issue work nowadays) and cited it as "New Avengers (2015)"

Which is honestly a way better title than All-New All-Different Avengers which is just a mouthful and a half

Who's left to be on it? Cap, Thor and Iron Man are already on New Avengers. Luke, Jessica and Danny will probably be on the new Defenders.

Though as Wolverine has demonstrated, you can be on six teams at once and still have time for a solo book.

I can totally see them officially calling it "Avengers" or "New Avengers" but having an All-New, All-Different tag up top - there's a pretty solid precedent there, and something that it wouldn't be a bad idea to call back to at all.

I'm guessing we will probably see a bit of a trimming of Avengers titles in this relaunch

We reached peak saturation around when Marvel Now started till All-New Marvel Now when we had: Avengers, Uncanny Avengers, New Avengers, Young Avengers, Avengers Arena/Undercover, Secret Avengers, Avengers World, Mighty Avengers and Avengers Assemble at various points

I wouldn't be surprised if they cut it down to one to three titles(New Avengers, Uncanny Avengers, ????) and instead focused on a lot of solo books with a handful of teams.

Honestly my most anticipated book so far, provided it ends up having a great creative team, is the one made up of heroes from dead universes. There's just such crazy potential with that concept and we basically already know at least one member of the Great Society is on it so they're pulling from unexpected choices instead of just HEY ITS AGE OF APOCALYPSE WOLVERINE or something.
