I really doubt he is trusting enough of everyone to be able to actually do that at any point.
And even if he could, there's no way that fusion would be stable enough to last more than seconds or moments.
Another thing I'm curious about is Lion. Lion is obviously not a normal lion. Is he a gem? So far there hasn't been magic/super-advanced technology in the show that hasn't been gem related.
Lion is all the "Gem stuff" from Rose that was left behind when Steven was made.
Rose literally was her gem, remember? Like literally everything that Rose ever was is in Steven's belly button.
Remember, I'm just spit balling here since we don't know but the way you wrote that lead me to horrible thoughts. Do you really think Rose's memories/personality/everything is literally trapped and submerged into the gem? Her sacrifice is sad and touching and echoes the human condition if it's non-existence. If it is literally a prison sentence that feels like something else.
I'm using a very rough analogy, but until proven otherwise, I'm of the opinion that the gems are loosely similar to computers or the Geth.
All that was Rose, may well be in Steven's Gem, but the personality and functions are fundamentally different because of what Greg added.

Gaming the expected tropes and system, I think we are gonna get a scene where Steven gets echos or dreams talking with a construct of Rose, so that its understood by the viewer. It won't actually be Rose, just an ok copy that can provide a "Gem Wiki" of Rose's experiences.
Or we could get something radically different and fantastic and that will be cool too. But until we get more info, this is what I'm going with.

There have been hints that on some level Rose isn't gone. Like, people have wondered what would happen if someone literally tried to tear the gem out of Steven(Since he seems to have an actual flesh and blood body.) and some people have speculated that Rose would literally just come back since Gems are literally their gems. (Although I don't know what would happen to Steven, probably nothing good.)
I think lion is some manifestation of Rose's powers and essence, and that some day when steven's ready, it's going to combine with him and give him a big ol power boost
But then he'll separate it back out into lion because he doesn't wanna lose his friend

That said, Steven doesn't have a normal human body either, since it can change in dramatic ways. If not quite as dramatic (so far) as other Gems.
