I tip my hat and walk past. If I still breathed, I probably would have let out a huge sigh of relief. Looking around the room, I'm sort of taken aback at how...casual this all is. When you think of vampires, it's all monocles and cocktail dresses. I thought I was going to be underdressed in my Sunday's best and duster, but, hell's bells, there's a girl in a T-shirt for chrissakes, and another lady who brought a kid with her. God only knows what that's about.
Screw it. I walk over to her and the kid and remove my hat. "I'm terrible at breaking the ice, but I'm new to all this. My name's Jack DeLuca," I say, addressing both of them. Knowing my luck, this kid is the Prince. I stick out my hand, wondering if either of them will shake it, or if vampires were too hip for that.
I look the newcomer up and down. After an uncomfortable second of staring, I introduce myself, "Evening, I'm Damien. I'd shake you hand, but I'm afraid of catching grown-up kooties."
I look back to Catelyn then back to Jack and smirk, "And they say we Tremere don't have a sense of humor. I'm new in town myself, what brings you out to the Elysium tonight?"
Previously you had no read on your sire, Damien, but at your 'cooties' remark she gives you just the slightest hint of a smirk. She stands and crosses her arms, looking Jack over with disapproval. "I heard quite a bit of fuss about you, Jack," Catelyn glares. Still she takes your hand, Jack, but you're not sure how she could have heard any of that. "Normally I would disapprove of socializing with vipers. Tell me, Jack Setite, what is it that would bring make a snake enter the Ivory Tower?"
Huh, I was right. It only took two decades, but I can finally say I called it on crazy meaning Malkavian.
With a nod and a raised eyebrow, I silently question the advice that bringing the Malk would be a good idea. I shrug, however, and exchange pleasantries with the Sheriff as I leave.
Despite being not that far from the crowd gathering closer to the entrance, I manage to slowly close the distance. I take my time analyzing the players ahead of me, trying to make sure I know what's going on before I close and interject myself.
Do you want a roll of some sort for tracking what conversations are going on since I'm pretty sure I've been too far away to hear what all was going on?
@Delmain Sure! Let's go with Perception + Alertness, DC 7 since she's made a bit of a scene and you've been directly watching but they are a bit far from your place.

I clear my throat and retract my hand. "Thanks for not leaving me hanging there, ma'am. My sire asked me to come check things out, despite my obviously not unfounded misgivings," I reply, gesturing ever so slightly to Alex and the greeter. "Like I said, I'm a recent...inductee into all of this, so I'm trying to mind my P's and Q's."
I try to take measure of what these two's deal is. Mother-son? I figure that'd be rude to blurt out, so I just ask the kid, "You said you were new, too. Just "hopped a train from St. Louis" new or...well, you know...the other kind of new?"
Vampires giggling is literally the scariest idea I've ever come across.
But on topic:
I want to get this right before I approach.
Jack is talking with Damien and Catelyn as one little group, is there anyone else still in that area?
Then Lizzy and Kris are standing apart, and no one else is involved there?

Uh, huh. I'm starting to think "werewolf" might have been the safer choice here.
I offer, "Same here, it seems. I'm guessing that gal in the T-shirt is new, too. You guys know anyone else here? Cocktail parties aren't exactly my forte, so the sooner I get the call to talk to the Prince, the more at ease I'll be."
I understood about half of what the Malk said, but the body language when she turned her back to me and traded glares with the official looking guy got her point across. On the other hand, she was at least twice as coherent as the only other Malkavian I’d ever come across before, and something that she’d said about fire, passion, and soul was echoing how I thought about functional design.
Oh, what the hell. Sometimes even if you see the signs, you just ignore them. I stepped back into her line of sight, hands up shoulder high with palms out to show I wasn’t a threat. “Okay, I get it, not a grunge fan. But passion and soul? I get that. You ever seen a Beech Staggerwing? It’s like a symphony in metal, going fast just sitting on the ground.”
I stuck my right hand out. “Name’s Christopher. What brings you to this… gathering tonight, and more importantly, what do you write when you don’t have to get paid?”
"Listen closely and listen well." Lizzy turns to the vampire. "I do not care, can't you tell? I'm here to see the Prince and only him tonight. Afterwards, my sire and I is all I care about when it comes to flight. Now please, leave me, I've asked you nice. Leave me, do not make me ask twice." With that, Lizzy moves away from Kris and to a less crowded area.
“And I’ll just bet that you would not, could not with a mouse, and you would not could not, in a house?” I muttered at Grunge Girl’s receding back. “You’d think I’d told her my name was Sam I Am and asked her if she wanted to try some green eggs.”
Given how well my first attempt at socialization had gone, I figured maybe it would be better to just go back to waiting for my summons to see the Prince. At least the view was nice. I went back to standing near one of the windows, challenging myself to pick out and name individual buildings as the restaurant slowly rotated past the Seattle skyline.
As I approach I see the interesting Malk kind of go off on one of the new guys and I seamlessly redirect towards the other knot of vampires standing near the entrance. Beginning to run through possible conversation lines in my head, I stutter for a moment. It takes less than a (mortal) heartbeat to replace the mask of cool calm, and I overcome the fear and decide to just wing it. A careful, practiced tug on the dark grey vest straightened it over the solid dark blue shirt underneath, and I (somewhat nervously) ran my hands down the front of my slacks to make sure no creases remained in the soft fabric.
Here goes nothing.
"New, eh?" I say with a wide smile plastered on my face. "Good to have you in Elysium, then."
As befit custom, I turn to the woman who I knew to be the most senior of the group. "Hello, I don't believe we've met. I'm Roland, and your reputation precedes you, Ms. Winters. It is entirely beneath me to have not introduced myself to you until now, I apologize."
Catelyn raises an eyebrow when Roland addresses her. "A very curious night. This is the second time tonight I've been approached without invite or escort. Perhaps it's something of your generation, then," she says removing her glasses. She takes out a wipe cloth and begins to clean them. "When I was a neonate, we didn't approach elders without invitation or escort by our sires. That sort of behavoir typically had deadly consequences. Thankfully, we live in a modern, more civilized era, but I thought we at least respected the tradition. But maybe that's changing, too. Maybe I'm beginning to slip and become one of those delusions old fools in foppish make-up and ruffles.
"What do you think, Damien?" she put her glasses back on and looks down to her childre. "I am beginning to lose touch with the times?"

Suddenly, the intercom errupted and called out. "The Prince will now see Damien Thorn, Jack DeLuca, Christopher Parson, and ... ehem ... Lizzy Hell. Please meet Prince Gordon on the outside observation deck. Thank you."
Catelyn hmms. "Damien, best behaviour.
"A pleasure meeting you all, I'm sure." She puts an arm around Jack's shoulder. "And best of luck to you, Jack. Despite my teasing I have the greatest respect for your courage in coming here tonight. I do hope you'll forgive me and perhaps you and my Damien will become well acquianted."

Lizzy turned to her sire. "Trust the music." Chantalle said as her childe walked away. The drummer followed the few newer vampires outside, the drums of war pounding in her head each step of the way.
Cool, I was just going to point out that I took both Protege and Prestigious Sire, so in theory it should be well known that my sire is a pretty cool chick and that she liked me a lot. If she's intentionally trying to make me angry, that's fine, haha

I incline my head in a slight bow to Catelyn as I back away, before turning and leaving to go mingle with the other kindred in Elysium.

Best to not keep the big dog waiting. I walk somewhat quickly toward the observation deck, hoping to get this little meet-and-greet over as soon as possible.
I smile at Catelyn, "Of course you're losing touch with the times. It's what we do. It's why you made me. I'll speak with you soon. Have a good trip and enjoy yourself."
I glare a little at Roland. I know that Catelyn is prodding him deliberately, but I don't know why. What's so special about this one to cause her to go on the offensive?
I motion towards Jack and walk to the observation deck, "I'll be off on an adventure with my newest and favoritest friend."
You feel a tug on your arm and turn to see Alex Vallejo. You and Alex have gotten fairly familiar, even friendly, over the last few weeks. He has a short temper but that's to be expected of his blood. Otherwise he's a fairly laid back and does his best as Keeper to encourage a lite even party-like atmosphere in Elysium. But you also know he won't tolerate violations. You once saw him toss a suspected Anarch-sympathizer right over the edge of the observation deck. You hear that vampire is still recovering from the injuries sustained.
"Hey Ro, the sheriff has asked you join him on the observation deck. Says Gordon was ammicable to the plan."
The familiar touch elicits barely a stutter from me, even though it's something I should be getting used to from Alex. The Keeper even insists on calling me 'Ro' which, while originally annoying, is actually growing on me. A genuine smile reaches my lips as I greet him.
"Of course Alex, I can't say I'm surprised by this request, only it's speed. I wish I had a moment to speak, but I mustn't be late, you'll understand."
I politely excuse myself and head directly to the observation deck. I was letting my mask slip around Alex and that's an issue. I can like him, but that doesn't mean he can know me. I gather my wits, preparing for another confrontation with the Prince.
All conversations with the Prince are confrontations when you're a Ravnos. Especially given, well, my situation.
Well, time to meet the Prince, I guess. At least if I get tossed off this building, I can admire the design on the way down.
I tried to angle myself into the middle of the group that had been called. It looked like me, Seuss Girl (based on the announce, her real name must be Lizzy, but I’d stick with Seuss Girl for now), and two other guys. No idea which was Roland and which was Jack. I made it a point to be within earshot of Lizzy as we walked out. “So... would you, could you, in the rain, would you, could you, on a train?”

I'll corret it later but for now assume they used the allias. You're roll was good enough they had no reason to even think it was false.

Can we please try to avoid editing additional actions into posts? It has happened twice today that I've responded to the thread and come back later to see that additional information was added to a post above mine. Fixing a typo or something is one thing, but there's no restriction against posting twice in RP threads like this and it makes things way way easier to keep track of. If you want to add additional actions, just make another post. It's easy to miss that two sentences were added to a post and a lot harder to see that there's another post in the thread entirely.
It's not that she's angry about being broken, but making fun of her about it is cruel for the sake of being cruel. She's already on edge in a place she knows is a trap, she's just wanting to get out before the trap shuts.
And Kris can be kind of an asshole when he finds someone whose buttons he can easily push. Especially if it helps him deflect his own nervousness. Sorry, probably not stopping.

I shake my head when I hear the dick in the suit trying to rile up the chick in the T-shirt. Hell, I think the "kid" has more sense than half these people. I turn my head to the side and tell Mr. Overcompensation, "Hey, numbnuts. The lady asked you to shut up at least once already, so maybe shut up? I'm new here, but I doubt anybody else, including the Prince, wants to hear that bullshit either."
