Isn't that forest pretty late on though, or, at least it's late on by the time you can easily farm the thingies?
Or maybe I'm thinking of a different forest, this game has a lot of mystical jungles, or you revisit several jungles a few times? Something like that.
Yeah, it's pretty late, in The Salikawood. Past Mt. Bur-Omisace and The Stilshrine of Miriam. Probably 3/4 of the way through the game.
How the hell do you remember the names of those places? I worry about you sometimes Renzo.
Well...I looked up the track listing. Almost looked up a map. I remembered where it was, but I kept thinking Golmore Jungle, and I knew that wasn't right.
I have a friend who I can borrow this game from. Said friend told me that my priorities were out of whack and I should either finish FF7 and/or play the entirety of FFX before playing this. Is... Is it really that bad?

It is not that bad.

FFXII is one of my favorite FFs, even if the story sort of takes a dive halfway through
That's the correct pronunciation, though. They're not speaking French, why would they say 'mar-kee'?
I have never, ever heard anyone ever refer to the "Mar-kwiss de Sade". If you're referring to the British noble rank, apparently the correct spelling is "marquess" anyway.
All I'm going to say is Alexander O Smith didn't hire a bunch of really talented English stage actors for nothing, and between him and them I'm pretty sure they are pronouncing it correctly.

You're blowing my mind here, I've never heard anyone pronounce it like that.

A while back, I let some guy borrow my game. I lived with him.
He put it in his PS2. Which he had resting on the fucking sofa.
Then my friend who was visiting, sits down on the sofa, and the PS2 falls over. Surprise!
So the disc got scratched, and I was forever afraid to play it because I knew of one spot in the early game where it would freeze and I sure as hell didn't want that shit to happen to me.
But the kicker is that neither took the blame or would replace the game.
Pissed me right off.
Though my fondest memory was beating some dragon in a forest when I wandered the wrong way and accidentally killed a boss way sooner than I was supposed to. Oh, and I think I did that in a desert too. It was just like "hey it's a boss dragon" and I said "cool so that means I can fight it, right?" and then I spent a shitton of time micromanaging everything to make sure I didn't die.
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

Blorf, forgot to do the Thextera hunt before Penello left the party.
Can't really do it with just Vaan without grinding a shield outa the Giza Plains chests. Even then it would be kinda luck based.
If you look at the list of players and I've failed to add your name, it's because I didn't read your post as saying you were definitely joining. If you said you were thinking about it or you might join, even if it was in a coy way that meant you were totally playing with us, you haven't been added yet.
So if you do want to be added and haven't been, just @ me and I'll put you on there.
So i played a bit of the game yesterday to test out setting and such an man... its going to take some getting use to on using the dang camera controls for left to right camera control.
I prefer inverted up/down, so I'm fine with that. I don't know how I would have reacted if up/down weren't inverted in addition to left/right being inverted.
At least you can hold L2 and get that sweet zoomed-in camera angle.

Yea this is one of the rare games where everyone has to use the camera controls I find most comfortable.

Aw man i forgot about the zoom-in.
So i might start the game a day early or 2, and was wondering for the first week are there any recommendations on how i should approach this weeks progress?
As an American, what would my options be for playing the izjs version?
Ps3? Emulate it?
If you want the menu text in English, literally the only way to do that is to get an .iso (by ripping one from your own copy of IZJS, if you want to do it the most legal way possible) and then patch it with a fanmade translation.
The way my brain coped with the camera in FF12 was to use it to steer my character instead of treating it like a camera. Specifically I'd always hold up on the left stick and change my direction by moving the camera with the right stick.
I honestly remember virtually nothing about this game at all even though I beat it. Looking forward to the new playthrough just because it'll be almost like playing a brand new game again.

The funny thing about the "fan made" translation is that it's almost entirely just the existing translation.
There's very little by the way of "new" stuff in IZJS, it's really more of a remix

Random voice quirks this game has.
Good: Fran's "woot"
Bad: Mar-kwiss. Just stop it, everyone.

That said, it is a very good game with a story that is even better.

marquess? sounds like one of ondore's lies imo
It's in the dictionary.

Well, yes
But it's also significantly more convenient than looking up the translations of menu items and then memorizing them.
