Initial reports from the Pied Piper Initiative are promising - a number of civilians were able to be screened and evacuated, and the strategy prevented ground forces from sustaining significant damage. It is not a long term strategy without substantial reinforcements, however, as the creatures respond by speed, leaving the slower - and bigger - infected to respond later.

As such, British forces will be pulling out of the Netherlands without additional Firestarter reinforcements, until our first division can be brought on-site. Any further tactical or infected intelligence will be disclosed when able.

The United States is pleased to announce that Operation Eagle Hawk has successfully concluded with the evacuation of the Federal Mexican Government to Laredo, Texas.

The Mexican government-in-exile will continue to represent its citizens and interests in partnership with the United States until such time as Mexico City can be liberated.

    Day 8 – War
    Day 7 Map

    yZ1lHaC.png

    31st of August - 2015

    These countries have gone dark:
    • Turkey
    • Mexico
    • Netherlands

War. Darkness comes for the world, but the world doesn't go quietly. In Europe British troops blow vast swathes of Infected away in the netherlands even as Germany faces harsher and more direct assaults on it's borders. In South America the infected flood crashes across the lines of civilisation, only for brave men and women to throw it back. In Africa it sweeps across the continent, only to stumble against Egyptian and Nigerian troops.

Looking across the world, it's easy to see that the number of infected is climbing ever higher. But the world powers do not rest quietly, and they have found fire.

    Newly Infected Countries:
Ethiopia, Nigeria, Bolivia, Georgia, Tanzania, Italy, Argentina, Western USA

    DEFCON ALERT
    China is on DEFCON 3
Week 8 Thread Activity - Diplomats
    UN Summit
Rules update – Can all resolutions submitted from here on out be in your countries orders post in this format

    Resolution 1 - Funding

Topic: Strategic Military Institution Thwarting Hell (S.M.I.T.H.)
    Sponsors: Russia, China

Summary: Russia and China propose a military training and special-operations staging base that would specialize in both teaching troops to fight the infected menace, outfitting them with the best technology available, and provide a staging point for operations/refuel zone for planes/vehicles/new-troops. The base would be located in Kazan and would be open for all nations to use to aid in the deployment and outfitting of their troops, provided that they pass the cursory Russian tests that assure that no infected persons enter the country.

Kazan is uniquely located near two military powers and is currently protected from Infection, but allows for rapid deployment toward nations that are in Stage 1 as well as dealing with Rescue/Burn missions in nations that have 'gone dark.'

Russia and China are currently in the talks to begin Operation Charizard, an attempt to retake a dark country for the world. This base would greatly assist this mission, and allow for further missions to be deployed on the Middle-East and aid to Eastern Europe/Northern Africa.

If successfully resolved: A military base is built in Kazan, Russia, lowering the time it takes to train troops in the region by a day.

    If resolution fails: Nothing happens.

    Resolution 2 - Funding

    Title: Global Crisis Response Center
    Sponsors: South Africa, Brazil, Egypt

Description: With the world under attack on all sides from MS Alpha, relief efforts have been unfocused and ineffective. This resolution would fund the construction of a dedicated Emergency Response Center to be constructed on the island nation of Madagascar where relief efforts and evacuations of infected areas can be properly organized and coordinated. South Africa, the world leaders for months now on methods of dealing with the societal impacts of MS Alpha will handle the day-to-day operations of the organization much like how China leads the way in anti-viral research with the IRC.

Success: Regional Terror Rate is slowed as relief efforts become more structured in infected countries. Refugee centers can be built for $2 million by all powers that allows refugees to be contained in allied territories
Failure: Resolution is not funded, no penalty.

Only Diplomats may vote in this referendum
!Vote in Blue to accept the resolution
!Vote in Red to reject both resolution

I'm starting to seriously run out of real life Stamina. A couple of unexpected things are propping up as well, so I'll have to announce that the last day will be this Thursday, the 23rd. Let's go out with a bang everyone!

Kentucky, United States - General Breedlove

Throughout this time of trial and World hardship, the USA has contributed action after action to contribute to the greater Global community. We participated in the daring operation in Europe which resulted in valuable knowledge about the virus. We have and continue to defend Africa and Europe by allowing our men to risk their lives securing in the Mediterranean and Black Sea. We have worked with Russia to defend their borders from the virus and have taken the reigns in areas near them so they can focus fully on the monsters on their southern border. We helped China with research and contributed our military to help them in operations in their theater. Finally, we are combating the exact same strain and issues that our fellow South American countries are trying to contain. All of these acts of selflessness have oftentimes led to us outspending our budget to defend nations outside of our local theater.

Despite these truths, a nation-state felt it necessary to debase themselves as a common thief in the night and steal directly from Fort Knox. They took a paltry amount we would have gladly given to anyone who asked it of us. Instead this nation has broken the trust and cooperation that the rest of the nations of the world have worked to create. This happened on my watch. I apologize to the American people for my lack of diligence. I apologize to the Global Community for not preventing this act from happening and allowing it to cause this level of damage.

I now speak to the nation that performed this desperate act of selfishness. Unfortunately for you, the United States has always had measures in place to know of and identify agents who work within our borders. We know who you are. You have one week to contact our diplomat with a restitution deal. That does not necessarily mean you must pay us back. At least explain your position and reasoning and work with us so we can help you and your citizens. This is a generous offer being made to ensure that trust and cooperation is not completely destroyed in a time where every nation needs each other.

Failure to take advantage of this generous offer will result in Justice being meted out in less favorable terms, as well as a promise that your crime will not be forgotten.

The White House also regrets to acknowledge that foreign agents have robbed Fort Knox, and that this has indeed reduced our income substantially.

Our defense commitments will continue to be met, however, we will have to review our international aid programs. We ask the international community for guidance on which nations most deserve our continued support.

The White House expresses its most intense disappointment that any of the powers here assembled would resort to petty larceny at this bleak hour.

seriously, we've narrowed it down to two countries

The USA already has credible intelligence on the likely culprit. An investigation is ongoing, and we are confident that justice shall be done.

What truly disappoints me is we would have given the money to them, if they"d asked.

Yeah, like, we're perfectly capable of doing it on our own.

But if we don't have anyone to corroborate our evidence, what's it gonna matter? It would be our word against theirs.

I've been idly wondering if it was the UK that did the Greek thefts all along, mostly because they voted for the bailout, but their brief description by the hosts on the OP says they would not mind the EU becoming fractured, so you would normally think they'd vote against it.

Especially with these last few posts from the UK I really doubt that's actually the case, but the idea of the UK swimming in Scrooge McDuck piles of money while shifting the blame with made-up investigations would be a very funny thing to be revealed in the postgame.

If we were the culprits, then everyone totally not caring the next day would be the best possible thing that could happen.

If we're lying, then the best-case scenario of getting people to investigate is...that we waste everyone's time and money, I guess? However, as the narration said, the UK likes seeing the world maintain a nice balance between the powers; and convincing people to spend money on a wild-goose chase instead of stuff that can keep them alive doesn't really accomplish that. If one big power gets wiped out, that's one less to keep the other big powers in check.

The worst-case scenario is that people take my calls to action seriously and find out we've been lying and then we completely lose everyone's faith in us.

So basically, the course of action I'm taking makes zero sense if we're the ones who did it.

It would be so, so funny if we were doing that

    but we aren't

I kind of wish we had, honestly, that would have been amazing

and I'm sad that the country that did do it isn't trying to mess around like that

although I suppose it would reveal them as the culprit pretty fast
