I'm not a fan of hearing a bunch of preset sounds. Like those Sytrus presets. That and quite a bit of it's kind of static or stiff, obviously electronic sounds. I wouldn't find myself enjoying to listen to that much. Keep up the work though. I know I like to throw together songs and stuff as well.

Is there a reason why you slowed down the tempo on the Mario 64 Hat song?

hmm, i didnt know i slowed it down LOL!
i used that speed cause it fit with the synth violins

and neoredXIII, listen to this: http://media.putfile.com/duke-nukem-FINAL

the only synth sounds are the drums.
    the rest is me playing

I quite liked them :) The mario hat one was pretty good IMO...the other one I liked was that Duke Nukem 'Seizure 38'...Although, it would be even better if you could increase the volume of the synth that comes in about 3/5 of the way.

Flying hats mario tune is really cool.

But, some of the synths are just grating on the ears and this is coming from someone who's entire music library consists mostly of video game music.

Examples: slide race mario 64...oh god the ears.

My biggest problem with most of these songs is FL Slayer (I'm going to assume you used FL for these...and the guitar synth sounds an awful lot like Slayer). It's just a nasty-sounding guitar simulator and really grinds ears. Like, on the Super Mario 64 Island Theme, the guitar sound just doesn't fit the song. Nothing else in the mix even comes close to its volume. Something more spacious would be better.

Yeah, for the longest time I couldn't get myself to NOT use the fruity slayer when I downloaded the FL demo.

I would love to post some of my own music, but I wouldn't want to hijack the thread. Is there a good place to post this stuff or could I simply post it here?

I used Slayer a bit at first, but I could never make it sound like an actual guitar. I had just started to learn guitar at that point, so I pretty much stuck to synth in FL...but once I got better and had a makeshift recording setup, I started to mix recorded guitar with sequenced drums / bass. Much better.

But really...I don't think there's ever a good reason to use Slayer. Even a 12 watt practice amp with a ten dollar microphone and a bit of EQ in FL can sound ten times better. Seriously.

sure, post your music here, and i used fl-slayer ofr a bit, but i dont use it for my newer stuff, i did that mario stuff a long tim ago. i now prefer to use slayer2. ( www.refx.net ) plus, slayer 2 can be thrown on top of real guitar, it sound really good.

and for amps, my longer duke nukem theme used a 45 watt marshall connected directly to my sound card. fl-studio for the drums.

btw, if you do music, check out this program, its one of my favorites, and needs a bigger fanbase. http://psycle.pastnotecut.org/portal.php

now, its a tracker interface, so it may take some getting used to.

I'm currently uploading a crapton... i'll post again once it's finished.

Until then, I have one song already up: http://www.chromuszone.com/art/Legacy_of_the_Wizard_Industrial_Philosopher_OC_ReMix.mp3

It's a crappy old mix of some Legcay of the Wizard tunes that I made back when I discovered slayer. I don't play the guitar, but I know someone who does so I might go back and get them to redo the dumb slayer stuff.

Also an original peice concerning Roy from Super Smash Brother's Melee:
