I'd like to suggest some visual indication that a particular pin has variants. At the moment (to my knowledge) the only way to know if a pin has variants is to click on it..
A late reply but they're hidden on purpose. Variants aren't really something to be concerned with, I have them for completionist sake but I'm only aware of a handful of collectors who are actively trying to get them all. To 99% of people, it's exactly the same pin and I don't want to add clutter or confusion for something you don't really need to consider. I already consider it too much to clutter on the profile screen but alas, it is necessary there.
The only variants that have any significance is the original 8 pins released in 2012, this is a very special one off case. Every reprint after that has been of no real significance, if you have one of the 50000 Merch2 2014 or one of the 50000 Merch2 2015....I don't think it really matters.
If a pin warrants extra attention, I will special case it, the first pin I see needing this will be a reprint of DSB Merch but we'll see how the market reacts, I would need to see a significant difference in value.
The Profile page just got a revamp, you can now track counts on your pins, up to 99 of each.
The biggest thing to know is only you can see them. Other people continue to only see if you've set a badge as highlighted or unhighlighted, any other state is not revealed. There are numerous reasons for this but the biggest is creating trade bias, if people see some one with 10x of something, they'll be more inclined to trade with them because their chances might be better. I'm not really interested in fostering that sort of environment. So we keep the trading field even and diverse
The second biggest thing to know is, counts are MANUAL, the site will not auto handle you completing a trade, gaining/losing pins. It will prompt you in the future but this is substantially more work and this side has delayed counts for alonggggg time, rather than continue this trend, I decided to just go with manual counts first.
You can use counts by Shift-Clicking a badge by default. However, if you click the cog, you can set this to show count dialogs on click, this option is saved.
You now get an annoying count at the top that tells you how many pins you're missing from a full collection, "enjoy"
There could be massive bugs, so let me know and also general feedback.
edit: Found a bug with the count dialog going haywire on some pins with reprints.
Small change today, Armadeaddon pins and made a change to the Pins tab, it now only shows the pins for the most recent year in each section and there's buttons to load the other years if you need them. Just to help reduce the amount of scrolling necessary for now.
grgemonkey, I've been playing with the pin counts for collections and have found that if you have a pin designated as a "variant" that it doesn't count towards your collection total (ie you could have every pin, but the total will show as less than complete). Given as you have stated most people don't care about variants, I believe that having either the "main" pin or the variant increase your total would be useful to the majority of your users.

Hmmm good catch.
It counts variants under "reprints" but if you only have a variant and don't collect them, I guess you consider it part of your main collection.
The problem with the other way is people who do collect variants, can't tell why their collection is X+Y/X, making it difficult to tell if they have non-variants to collect. I had it this way originally, then split the count.
I can think of one solution and that is to let the count go over, so X+Y/X is allowed and then the subtext says "of which Y are reprints". Variants collectors will need to do a bit of manual maths to get their normal total?
Or I can hide various breakdowns behind clicking the badge?
Can't speak for everyone else, but I collect variants only of pins I want.
I'm happy to just have the pin as is represented in my listed collection, and if I have a pin with a variant listed for trade people could always just message and ask I guess?
I like how you currently have the variant total below the main total. The only thing I'd change in the counts is that possession of either version should increase the main count (but not both).
Although I'd like to see a list of all the pins that have variants as well.
You might as well hit refresh next time you visit and clear things out.
System upgrade happened.
Long story:
One of a series of incremental steps that will eventually allow PP accounts to be shared with 3rd party services.
I've updated the login system and it now supports multiple sessions from multiple devices, with the ability to revoke session access. All rather necessary features!
Nothing changes for you but should you say have accidentally left your self logged in some where, you can now safely revoke that session and presto! Your pinny data is safe!
I'm aware of an issue that is randomly logging people out, that's not supposed to happen
Also if your password gets rejected, give it 5seconds before trying again. There's a good chance if you try again immediately, you'll get rejected not because it was wrong, just from a bad response.
Sorry it seems Parse (where your accounts are stored) isn't working as smoothly as in the past. I'm hoping it's temporary but if issues persist, I'll look in to other solutions.
Due to a hilarious bug (every time any one changed their profile settings, it changed it for every one).
All "on click" badge settings have been reverted to "toggle" but now you can safely set it to your choice...and it'll stay that way, what a novel concept.
As a side effect on this horrible bug. You've also all had your Trading Post limits reset to 0, so your existing offers are now free and you all have 5 more.

This doesn't seem to be posted on the website itself (I had no idea there was a limit). Can I suggest as a future feature you have a description of how the trading post works on the page itself. (Including a basic description of the pooling you've mentioned for actual claims.)
Yep, all trading dialogs and things are getting a revamp.
The pooling system is going to be the posters choice (it'll be the default option but you'll also be able to choose "accept first claim" if you so desire). So they'll have explanations at this point.
TP limits are just to prevent flooding, most people never see the limit even at 5. I'm going to offset this limit by allowing you to post trades to your profile, they're not on the Trading Post, so you have to self advertise but the limit will be like 50.
I'm hoping that also substantially helps people with offering trades, as now you can just tell them exactly what'd you take for the Hanna on your profile. Should hopefully cut down the rejection numbers.
side thing that would be awesome grgemonkey would be when you are viewing someones ratings, you can click to see their pin list, or when starting a trade with them, have it highlight all the pins they have that you have on your want list. I find it a pain to have to find all the pins I may be able to want from them (similar to how it lists all of what I have available in a trade)
or when starting a trade with them, have it highlight all the pins they have that you have on your want list.
Huh, I totally thought it used to bold them in the other persons available list but I just check and it does not in fact do this... I feel like I need to reevaluate everything I previously believed to be real :P

It bolds the pin you selected from the gallery and it highlights all your availables that they want. I didn't even realise the reverse was missing, I also just assumed that happened
@grgemonkey Don't know if someone brought this to your attention but on the site the last seen function is only accurate if you specifically look up a pinnypal by their name from the pals tab. If you click on their name to show feedback and look at feedback and other users it will always show last seen as unknown. Just thought I would throw that out there.

Please update your whitelists/filters/whatevers to notif@spark.pinnypals.com, emails will now come from this address due to the previous service shutting down.
PinnyPals is down for maintenance, it'll be back within 24hrs if everything goes to plan
Most of you don't know but a bunch of services PinnyPals used decided to close their doors/start charging money (coincidently within a very short time of each other!). This maintenance will be to migrate away from all that and just rock out by ourselves.

Just make sure you've refreshed and possibly hard refresh (hold Shift usually) if your browser allows it.
You can also try an incognito window to make sure you're not clashing with a cache of some sort.
Also because it happens more often than you think, you can't login with your email address, has to be username.
