I was thinking it could be a movie poster thingy of armmadeadon but I like the photo idea better.

I'm still assuming it's an N-gage in a square pin.

Still in box, because who would actually open it to use that thing, right?

It seems like a container holding 12 boxes and there are 12 pins...yay? Because my first reaction was what if they are blind boxes for the set?

I don't know why they would individually box 12 pins if we knew entire thing just held a complete set. My money is still on it being blind boxes. Looks like it could be 2 pins per box a la DSB by the looks of how large the boxes are.

Looks to me like a DSB set just for armadeaddon pins.

Alternate thought (more like wishful thinking): The box is the container/packaging for the set, and it opens up to be a backdrop depicting the mall.

Here's hoping they sent some box sets down to Aus, for the Premiere Release. (And by some I mean 8000 because pin collectors are insane.)

Even still, I can't imagine they'd need a display box for them. Just a poster and a price and a GARBAGE BAG FULL OF THEM!

Crossing my fingers that it isn't a blind box. So hoping it's not but it seems like it is.

I'll gladly take the "garbage bags full" option.

My guess is it will be blind boxes. Different to double secret boxes, that were made to give some variety to purchase pins aswell as quickly reselling old or traded back pins. Armadeddon boxes will be filled with only Armadeddon pins. This gives several benefits that I can see. Most people won't get all 12 in one purchase, so it will promote trading, as opposed to everyone buying the same 4 pin set and having less reason to trade. And if this system works well, we may see more longer form series.

It'll probably be like the blind bag/box pin collections at Disneyland. Although I did end up buying three of the exact same bag in a row one day while I was there, which is a bit of a downer, and Disney pin trading is a lot more difficult in Aus. Hopefully with the global nature of the PA pin community, it'll be easier to move spares along.

I would prefer blind boxes to buying each pin separately for $15 each, like Killer Instinct.

Although, really, I guess it just comes down to price. I'm hoping I don't have to spend more than a hundred dollars to make a set.

Buying 12 at $15 is $180. I don't think a Pinny has ever sold for less than $7 each (Blind Box). With random buying, to have a 90% chance to get any 1 pin from a 12 pin set (assuming equal distribution), at $7/pin, it takes 26 pins which is $182. Which is a little more than buying them at $15/each. Of course that is just for 1 type of, it's unlikely to be all of them. I ran 50 trials and the average number needed to get all 12 was 35.3($245). The median was 33($231). The standard deviation was 12.5. I saw it take as little as 17, but as much as 90 ($630). So while it would be possible get them cheaper than direct at $15, I only saw 8% of the cases saving more than $20. And 68% costing over $20 more.

Conclusion: In this test, buying directly is cheaper than blind.

All of your calculations assume that all 12 pins have equal rarity however. Based on it being setup like a POP, I'm willing to bet that there will be 1-2 Rares per 'pop', causing higher dispersement.

This will probably distribute similar to how the mini vinyl's you can find at comic shops are distributed. 10 std figs and 1-2 Rare ones

The last word in that screenshot is why I hope it is blind boxes. Buying individual pins does not help with trading compared to blind boxes.

Of course. I've never seen a blind system that had equal rarity for everything. But I stuck with the easiest case to demonstrate the costs. It's not like having some pins be rare will make it easier to get everything. It only makes trading into what you don't open harder. because then it's not just because you didn't get it, it's because most people didn't get it. While at the same time, what you have a lot of is worth less because most people have it too.
