    Hi all!

I know it's still super early for the events to be announced (or even planned)

It's never too early for the party thread! I've already starting scouting out places for the PrePax Dinner...I had a great time last year, hope you all can make it this year!

    Edit: PPD Thursday, April 21st
    4-7pm, location TBD, Menu TBD.

Probably going to skip the pokecrawl this year. It seemed like it went well, but overall was just a bit too crowded and hard to get drinks. The Harmonix party on the other hand was amazing and I'm definitely looking to go to that again. I might see about getting an FFXIV gathering together too at some point. Might be fun to see some of the people out and about there that play the game.

Just an FYI: it seems a lot of the big Triple A companies seem to have their own cons now so they may not have any events. Also, a fair number of them didn't go to PAX 2015 neither.

Blizzard has flip flopped for years, it's not like Blizzcon was new or something.

Also, what was so special about the Asus party? I've never been but there's a lot of positive feedback so now I'm curious...

I'm not sure really... My friends that did go said it was just kind of any other night club party and took forever to get into.

I can't recall exactly who (other than Blizzard of course) that didn't attend 2015 but there were some. Bioware had quite a minimal deal going on that weekend I recall and the Sanshee event that was cancelled for some reason.

asus party was good cause I found a hook-up got right into the party without waiting outside and got free drinks all night the music was great but yes for most part was just like a nightclub party. Sanshee was a amazing party two years ago and then got canceled last year so hoping they come back with a bang this year

No, I meant who else has their own con besides Blizzard? I haven't heard of any. Not saying they don't exist, just never heard them mentioned before.

quakecon is the only one I can think of outside of blizzcon for a single company. There are a few world championships (Valve's & LoL) that is single focus but they are differnt from a con

Some of the big ones sometimes save their stuff for something like E3. I recall someone mentioning they were surprised someone wasn't there for 2015 but I can't recall whom.

TBH, my favorite part of PAX is seeing the indies. I love wandering around and finding just random booths that are empty and sitting down to play some crazy game I've never heard of. You find a lot of gems that way! The lines for the main games can be so long... it doesn't bother me if they don't have a booth at PAX. More room for the fun stuff!

I think so. 2014 if I'm not mistaken, because TCM also played the Riot party that weekend.

Everyone talks about the bug guys, but for me, I feel that the indie guys can really influence your experience at the Con

Yep! I end up spending a lot more on supporting indie games/Kickstarters than I do on any big-name swag. But it's also nice being there for any announcements that the bigger companies decide to use the con as a forum for.

Definitely will keep you in the loop. What we're looking at is about 20~ people so far and possibly more so we're going to need a bit of space. I'm talking with my crew though about it and we're going to get some more concrete ideas within the next week. I'll probably get a thread going once we have some ideas to see what people are into.

PAX East was also within a week of GDC last year, which I'm sure led to at least a small bit of reduced attendance by major companies.

Yeah it did...from what I remember, it was cancelled due to the venue double booking the event time. Rather than telling Sanshee the day before they told them the day of and then Sanshee had to cancel everything...it really sucked. Prime honestly wasn't the best location for that party either but as has been stated several times already, Royale was occupied with the Asus/PC party so that was a no go.

First time attendee here. How do you go about finding where the social meet-ups are?

the op will update the thread as parties/events/meet ups are announced or when others forumers post in the tread about it. So keep checking this thread, as well as other meet up threads that pop up.

Also, some groups have Facebook pages so you may want to search for those if you're looking for certain meet-ups.

The Gearbox party last year was pretty amazing, so I've got fingers crossed that they come back and do that again. I also finally made it to the Pokecrawl and will definitely be back!

First time attendee here. How do you go about finding where the social meet-ups are?

    1. Twitter. Follow the publishers/developers on Twitter or keep an eye on their Twitter pages. They'll typically tweet out details.
    2. Facebook. Same deal, follow the developer/publisher.
    3. Email subscriptions.
    4. PAX forums, where people will update the list accordingly.
    5. Gaming websites will report on whether or not X company is throwing a party.

    I was there!

God, that was some of the most fun I've had at a party. The Claptrap jousts were particularly hilarious/fun. Won a free T-shirt from it, plus the unlimited booze was pretty sweet. Also, the four player couch co-op was a nice break from standing around all day.
