I need a protoss to make disruptors and let me practice against them

I don't mean strategy, I don't mean a real game, I mean you send disruptor orbs at my army and I learn hgow the FUCK to live against them so I don't lose another game where I'm 3/3 against 2/0 and up a base because I can't fucking control my army against those things

fucking infuriating to lose to this bullshit because I can't click a fucking mouse

edit - honestly I am annoyed it's even possible. that shit does a lot of damage. but somehow I couldn't split right and I could never not once out of 20 times could never ever click the fucking orb to stop the shot. un fucking real.

That's the reaver remix unit, right?

Zergs don't try to focus it down, they just run from it a-la marine splitting.

    It moves pretty darn fast.

yeah, that's an option but not one I like. you can't run faster than it so you need to be moving immediately, it wastes your stim... with ranged units focus firing the dmg orb should be the right call I just repeatedly failed to click it (after doing it a single time correctly)

edit - haha I google about the disruptor just seeing if anyone says focusing is correct and it seems no, always split is the right answer so I'll just accept that and do it better.

but every. google. hit. is someone whining about the design of sc2 and the disruptor. not saying it's hard, not asking how to better handle it, whining about how the design is bad and a problem for the game. at least people are consistent.

tvz: wow, you can't kill a nydus til it's completed. so I scouted it, countered it, saw it building, put my army over it, and then lost. what. a. dumb. fucking. decision. wow. I hate shitting on things for "design" reasons (as my last post indicates) but holy shit.

Yeah, if they load the Queens first then they can start Transfusing it as soon as it finishes, making it live plenty long enough to disgorge whatever else is inside.

If you position your army outside the nydus but don't target the nydus, won't you just melt everything as they're coming out?

    you'd think so!

I mean, I'm sure I was being too greedy and making the wrong units but I had all my scvs from that base and every unit I had at the nydus. stim.

bomber also only made 2 hellions so he had more bio than I did, and it was built next to a bunker. he started the second nydus right next to the army so they were able to focus it down immediately.

there's a bunch of reasons that could go differently for bomber even thought he scout it and surrounded the nydus. nuts.

Is nydus that much different than a warp prism, or medical drop?

  • VariableVariable Mouth Congress Stroke Me Lady FameRegistered User regular
it can hold infinite amount of things, medivac hold 8 supply, warp prism hold 8 too I think but can warp in based on warpgates, nydus can hold every unit and then some.

Yeah I was thinking more about prism than medivac. That being said a drop could go in undetected while nydus announces itself (it still does that right?). I am curious how nydus will be used long term: pull the opposing army away from the front or just dump an entire army in the back of the base for example. I haven't watched much lotv stuff let alone anything where a nydus got used (until that video, so I don't really ha e an informed opinion.

    WingedWeasel on
  • MMMigMMMig Registered User regular

    @Variable

My point is though, SHOULD you focus the nydus? If your army's already there, and we now know that Nydus is a lot stronger (can't be attacked before spawning / will have a train of healers coming out first), is it better to position your army around it but instead of focusing it down, letting the army just melt the zerg that are bottle-necking in?

The rate of zerg that can come out isn't slow but it's still bottle-necked. Heck, you can even start 2 quick supply depots next to it to force their pathing away from your army so your units, which have far better range and concave, will just obliterate them?

either way they get out. you do not kill units as fast as you are thinking

I wouldn't wall half of it to choke them, but if you wall it all the way around nothing can spawn. That requires 800 minerals of Depots or 900 minerals of Barracks though.

They changed it so you couldn't kill a Nydus with workers. I'd rather they just gave them 5 armor, that would octuple their effective hp against workers.

    Twitch - Steam - BNet: Yilias #1224
  • MMMigMMMig Registered User regular
Don't wall half to choke but to screw with pathing. It's like having to go around the big rock just to get to stuff while things are shooting you in a perfect concave.

Dunno, it can't hurt at all.

they'd be terrible if they could be killed, a large enough bio ball (which is what they're designed to deal with) would just shred them instantaneously unless they had a billion health.

What was that (or all those) horribly long MLG games?
I recall one got past 1.5 hours and even the casters were just trying to come up with crap to say it was so damn boring.

got my first wailing opponent on ladder and it felt good. ZvZ and he keeps churning banelings into my base unfortunately catching more drones than i should be letting him get but i am ahead on upgrades and he never follows up. finish with a "sure whatever even though you had no econ all game". look at the graphs and despite the aggression i am waaaaaay ahead on workers all game and usually in an equally commanding army value lead.

I'm starting to get very comfortable tvz. still doing the forgg build yilias posted except I actually am smooth with it now. and my early game is getting sharp. I even jumped to my ramp knowing a drone was about to walk up... that felt GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD.

tvt I feel about as good although I did win against a mech player which I've always done badly against.

tvp is so all over the place. it's hard but I can't nail down why. but I've gotten it less in the last couple of days (not too many games played) so it's hard to say. been seeing lots of heavy all ins and lots of air play on streams.

Karax was just announced by the StarCraft twitter as one of the next allied commanders. Looking forward to trying him out and hopefully the other races get more commanders at the same time (as opposed to later patches).

I'm making my way through the Legacy of the Void campaign and man I love it. Shout out to everyone here that gave me tips on how to play in the previous thread. I'm now only building up to two units at once (used to max out the building queue) and having a much easier time through the campaign.

I love being able to warp an army in anywhere on the map.

Matt Horner and Alexei Stukov are apparently the other two new allied commanders that were datamined from beta. I could definitely see them being the new ones as well even though I'm not sure what Horner could really bring to the table that Raynor or Swann doesn't.

Karax I can see being the Protoss' Swann basically, Stukov I can see having infected marines and other type units.

Step 1:Set all gateways to the teleport gateway (forget the name).
Step 2: Build 4 Gateways early on
    Step 3: Profit!

This way you can have a wandering army taking care of campaign related stuff, and if your base gets attacked you can warp in a bunch of Dragoons and clear everything out.

yeah, i certainly hope they add more maps. i have to say even the boring commanders get some interesting things at higher levels (ex: zagara gets free banelings from the baneling nest. produces some automatically. or the aberrations create banelings when they die). i have yet to play any of the terran commanders though. since not every commander gets access to all units, are there any holes in the terran arsenal? any obvious overlap?

  • DhalphirDhalphir don't you open that trapdoor you're a fool if you dareRegistered User regular
The silly thing about some commanders is that the best way to play them is often against their theme. Vorazun for example performs far better massing void rays than dt/corsair.
