This is one of the reasons I love xwing-builder.co.uk so much. I can see what I do own, but it doesn't matter. I just print my lists with full details and it gives me all the card details so I don't even bother getting out my pilot or equipment cards anymore. I just can put a piece of paper on the table. Can I enter tournaments with it? Probably not. It gets me by for friendly games though and if I ever felt good enough for a tournament I could probably bum whatever cards I need for my list from friends or print them and slip them in sleeves.
It's the same problem as LCGs. They don't include 3x of the cards in the starter, and while there's a market for a "fill-in" pack of just the ones you'd need to get 3x, why would they if they can instead sell 3x starters for people who want the cards for tournaments?

I don't disagree with anything being said but I guess it doesn't bother me as much because the only other miniatures game I've played is Warhammer 40k, which costs at least a hundo just to get started

just put in a big ol' order of X-wing and Armada.
Pretty much for X-wing all I won't have is the transport, Tantive IV, M3A and the stand alone new X-wing and Tie fighter.
Picked up another Victory, Tantive IV, Nebula as well as a Raider for Armada.
After you got me all those ships for the Secret Santa? Will you be my Sugar Daddy?
Hahaha.
This is why My Wife and I don't have kids. She gets Lego, and I get X-wing.
Also I have been working a decent of overtime for the past 3 months, and looks like for another month or two. 10-20 hours overtime a paycheck makes for a bit of disposable income.
Also now is the time to buy when Cool Stuff Inc is running big sales. You can really stretch that dollar.

I placed an order of x-wing stuff myself last weekend. Should get it in 2 days. Basically ordered the new Imperial Assault Carrier, and a few missing ships I had like the StarViper, Kahrazx fighter, k-wing, tie punisher and finally a tie Defender now that with the future veterans imperial aces. This doesn't account for the 2 playmat, second IG-2000 and highly possible Hound's tooth I have under the tree. This officially breaks my "has to be in the original trilogy" old saying I had to prevent myself from spending too much.
On another note, now that I have all Epic ships, I really want to start playing. I purchased and received 2 FFG playmat so I can cover for the regular playfield of 6X3 for Epic play but I don't have a table big enough for this. I guess we could play on the floor of a room but that bugs me considering the dog. Big table are expansive so I'm considering just buying some Laminated plank to be able to put on top of my 5X3 table. Wonder if it would be balanced enough to be stable. What do you guys use for Epic play?
I bought some mdf board to plop on my 6x2 plastic folding table that seems to work ok. I only have 1 mat, but one of the 3x3 boards is covered in felt.
Though I am saving up for a proper gaming table (Eg geek chic or similar)
My suggestion is to find a local game shop, if possible.
Most have tables open for gaming, and generally the tables they have are large enough to accommodate Warhammer/Epic X-wing.

There is no local x-wing scene anywhere close to me so this is not an option for me.
My kitchen table is 5x3. I'm thinking about buying a wooden board to place on it. I know epic is 6x3 but should I go slightly bigger to make room for cards and token? Would 7x4 be too big?
A good idea is to put some planks on the underside of the board you're using, measured out so that they kind of lock the board into place on top of your table and people can't accidentally bump it off.
One day we played a 2v2 300v300pt game. Six hours, partly because my partner flew a dozen TIE Fighters and it was the maiden voyage of a blockade runner.
I played a couple of games yesterday, my first real in the flesh games. Won both of them to my surprise, although game 2 was down to 1hp.
Flew Vader, Fel, and Turr. Game 1 was against Dash and Poe, where Fel glued himself to Dash and didn't let go. Game 2 was against Horn? In a Y, a grey squadron stress Y, and a PS 2 B with Jan Ors. Cost me both Interceptors, but Vader eventually killed everything.
Would have played a third but I would have risked missing my flight. Did see something interesting at Sydney airport, I'll upload when I'm not on my phone.

So I have decided, after repeated experimentation, that I am really bad at this game. It doesn't help that Boba Fett has gotten blown up in roughly two hits all but one of the times I've played, when it feels like he's supposed to be a bit sturdier.

Get out your stuff.
Set up a play area, a couple of rocks, and a couple of ship bases.
Play out the first couple turns of your practice game - but instead of moving the ship bases, set down extra bases where the ships would end up.
See how things play out. Rinse and Repeat.

I was thinking more theoretical stuff; like, I was flying the Firespray and the Khirakszxksh fighter versus first the Falcon and an X-Wing and then versus a TIE Fighter + Phantom + Defender and was wrecked both times. Like, barely scratched them.
And it's tough to know how much of that was bad rolls (and they were pretty bad) and how much was poor flying (definitely identified a few less than ideal moments) and how much was just not good loadouts (???).
So I was wondering if anyone has any experience flying Boba Fett specifically because so far he has been suuuuuper underwhelming in pretty much every situation I've found myself in.

That is unequivocally a bad list. If Fett dying is taking too many points down with him when he blows up, the trick isn't to add more points. You have more weapons options than you'll ever need, a poor crew member and an illicit upgrade that will just kill your points faster.
If you want to use a scyk, and they are probably the worst ship right now, drop the engine upgrade and use a mangler canon .
In general, you are going to want to support a cheaper Boba with two or three other efficient ships.
And....I would strongly consider recon specialist for your crew. Two focus tokens with your defense rerolls would be good.

The main problem with that list is the vastly overcosted and underperforming SCYK. It provides no meaningful support to Boba, is 31 points and fragile as. A Y-Wing with TLT or even a Khiraxz fighter would work much better than the SCYK. Likewise, if you want tournament capable lists, ordinance is generally not worthwhile and the points are much better spent on other upgrades/ships.

My recommendation would be to trim the Boba build to 50 points and fill it out with two Y-Wing/TLT/Unhinged Astromech. That will give you some meat and consistent damage in the list.

So here are the two lists for the Epic (600 points!) game we're playing - probably all day - in early January. I have no idea how any of this will work out, but it will be utterly hilarious finding out!
Note that a fun condition I tried to impose was to get as many known movie characters as I could into both lists. Hence why there may be some really strange choices in there, the stand out might be the B-Wing that has the weird alien from the Falcon in it from Episode VI. I could not get IG-88 and Bossk in here because they are only Scum and Villainy ships.
Palpatine was ALWAYS going to take the Raider as his Palpmobile.
Always.
Edit: Also if there are any other named characters from the movie that I have missed here, do let me know. Arvel isn't named in the movies, but he's there as my random chuckles entry.
Edit2: Also it's not on there, but every X-Wing is just assumed to have Integrated Astromech.

Thanks, that's roughly what I suspected. I think my evaluation of smaller fighters has been skewed by my experience thus far (in that I highly over value agility versus health since the latter has not mattered much; in my last two games I was flying the Khiraxz but it took the one shield damage and then blew up on the next hit both times).

Looking over some stuff I would want to pick up, and dang I've got some spending to do.
Already seeing situations where I'd be buying a ship just to get cards though, which makes me a little sad. Really don't give a shit about StarViper, but Autothrusters seem to "fix" a bunch of ships.

They're not really a fix, but they are essential due to countering the current TLT bullshit. Against non-turret lists they can often be a waste of points.
And I don't even have the ability to use BTL Y-wings because I've not got any scum yet.
Man, I wanna get into scum but eh... finding most wanted for a decent price is pretty hard and even then most of the unique ships for the faction seem kinda bad outside of bro bots so I feel I might as well add the Scum converts to my collection first before I pick up Most Wanted.
EDIT: ALso @maddoc if you're just playing friendlies then http://xwing-builder.co.uk/build# lets you print out lists with full text descriptions of the upgrade cards. Which means you don't need to buy stuff outside of models.
Having said that I just googled and there's a site with 11 of them at normal price for the UK >.>
Might have to go with that. If you're looking for varied lists for Scum what's the purchase order?
I'm guessing Brobots are bottom because two large ships is alot of cash for just one list.
So something like:
MW
Houndstooth (or slave 1. Not sure which to get there)
HWK
Then one or two of the fighters?
If you've already got the Slave 1 or the HWK, MW comes with Scum and Villainy Pilot cards for those ships. If you play (or plan to play) as Rebels or Imperial then Hwk or Slave 1 may be the better choice since you'd be able to use those ships with the other sides. If you plan on sticking with just Scum and Villainy then the Houndstooth (and maybe another Z-95 for the Nashtah pup) since faction flexibility isn't a consideration.

Not to be pedantic, but they were a fix, to a different problem, specifically Han and Dash.
Anyway, unless Maddoc plans to fly TIE Interceptors or A Wings, there is no reason to go out of the way to get the Star Viper. They are the three ships that make great use of it. And its handy on T70s, but you could just use integrated astromech and still be average.
