Man, the underpinnings of this comic just get darker and darker.

If you ignore the shadow of the ball it looks like Colin's dad is chucking the ball at the girls in the bleachers. I wouldn't put it past him. I still think Colin is a lying liar who lies a lot.

frantic scanning of the panels.... i don't see it, go back to the top and look again. nope, not in that one. not there either. would it even be hidden in a non-camp environment? WHERE IS THE CAT? oh. it's hidden right there in plain sight; that is so mean.

i'm loving Colin's back story and his favorable depiction of events. i see him being a handler/damage controller for a congressman someday (if these kids do age and/or leave the camp).

Spotted a cat in the last few, but not every comic. I hope it's gonna be a thing that there's a cat in every comic though, that's a cool easter egg

At first I thought that the whole dumping you there without knowing why (like what happened to malachi) was what happened there, and I thought that was horrible.

But to actually know where you were going and be told why you were going there?

    I feel that that's worse.

All the kids are dead. Camp Weedonwantcha is purgatory. There is a smoke monster who represents... something. Ant time travel.

Is it weird that I looked for cats in the flashback panels?

I made an account so that I could tell you that this one is by far my favorite that you've done. I'm also just generally enjoying that we're getting to see some continuous storyline now.

This is lovely, and amazing that you've given Colin so much characterization in so little time. It's both incredibly sad and relatable that he blames himself for not measuring up to his father's standards.

It's amazing how you take care of even the slightest detail (like the fact his father didn't even give him the whistle on purpose)

So I feel foolish, because I didn't notice the cats until I saw Jack's comment here, but I went back and found them all!! I love your work, always makes me laugh, and the storytelling is very well done! Keep it up Katie!

    Fantastic.

I'm surprised the camp isn't an island though. I don't know why, but I always assumed it was. I also pictured the kids just waking up there, abducted in the middle of the night like those horrible real life "camps" for "troubled" youths.

This scenario seems even more depressing.

Well, there goes my theory that they were all in purgatory.

Then again, that is my go-to theory for any piece of fiction ever. It often doesn't really hold up.

It's fascinating how we remember some thing completely different than how they actually happened. Sometimes simply to protect ourselves.

    Wonderfully dark Katie :)

I really like how Colin's magician ribbon is just for participation, and that it is his only "trophy". I mean jeeze, how desperate for praise does a kid have to be to display a participation ribbon as a trophy? Just that one panel really told me a lot about Colin. Masterful story telling! Glad to see that the winner of Strip Search is living up to expectations. Keep up the good work Katie :)

    Yeah
This hits way too close to home for me.
    Only without the magic.
    And with less spankings.
