The Goon!

Does anyone still read the Goon? I really enjoyed book 0, but it kind of slipped under my radar after that. I really like the whackyness of the first book. How does the later stuff hold up?

The Goon is gold. One of my favorite books. Powell has been working on a different project (from what I read) and the recent 'noir' title wasn't that great IMO. I can't recall who is writing it off the top of my head…but I didn't like it.

I'm looking forward to seeing Powell return on the book.

Noir was different writers and artists. It was hit or miss to me.

Powell is working on something else? That jerk! I saw him at dragon con and asked him specifically if he was planning on doing any other stuff and he said no.

But, the Goon is pretty much awesome. There is nothing of the main goon stuff that I don't think it great. I have all the trades from before I knew who the goon was, and then all the issues since (maybe a year?). Great stuff!

He is working on a spin-off from the Goon called Chinatown. It has been very quiet about it, but there is some talk about it at the Darkhorse boards' Goon page.

I'm an adult, so I don't play with toys, but if I did, I'd buy that zombie. That thing looks pretty good.

The zombie is not sold individually. Parts of him were included with each figure.

I swear I saw the entire set on ebay for $20 + shipping. That was a week ago, though. I shoulda brought em.

The first issue of Goon noir was way stronger then the second, I thought. I really want to get back to the story, though. The nameless man's new freaks kick ass. And there ain't no way "Satan's sodomy baby" isn't gonna be funny.

A few years ago I bought The Goon Vol. 0.

Last summer I figured I should catch up on everything that had been released since then so I ordered volumes 2-5.

Unfortunately I forgot about Vol.1 as I figured the TPB I had was the first volume, and technically it is.

I've just now ordered the first volume recently.

Besides the stupid numbering scheme, I'm really looking forward to reading such a large chunk of The Goon at once. It's just simple entertainment and that's why I love it.

So yeah. I picked up Satan's Sodomy Baby. Powell has out done himself. I mean...wow. I laughed so hard when I saw it in my local shop and realized what it was.

I wouldn't really call it a spin-off. He just took time off doing doing single issues to release a graphic novel that tells an important story from Goon's life.
