[Soon to be Game ON!]Eberron!

So the other day my roomie and I where talking about doing a DnD game, he wants to DM and I want to play. Problem is, most of our friends that play still live in school and we can't play with them due to schudeling. So he says to me "Hey dosen't that forum you go to have an area about this?"

So basically where trying to get about 4 or 5 more people together to get our Ebberon on with. Gonna use Open RPG I think. and we have to wait for him to get his computer build (I should have it running by the end of the month)

So who wants in?

I would be interested to play but I do not have any of the books for Ebberon. Are there any ways to play without them?

I do have the 3.0 DnD Rule Set books though.

Well they make a point of saying "if it is in DnD it is in Eberron", so you can just make up a character using 3.5 rules and it will work. Most of the source material is for flavor and some Eberron specific races and classes. The Eberron source materials are really nice in my opinion though and worth taking a look at.

I am down for playing as well.

So what kind of campaign is this going to be.

Because if it's a Sharn-based campaign I might have to roll up my lawyer-type character.

Well where going to use a mix of Open RPG and my roomies private Vent server most likely. Unless someone else has a better idea.

    Most likely starting at lvl.1

And if you join, I can help you get ahold of the Eberron book for VERY cheap.

Theres like a 90% chance Ill want to play, but I can borrow my friends copy of the Eberron book. That 10% chance is on what all your "settings" are, but thats only if you turn out to be a nazi of somesort.

i've played a couple of forum based games, and i have to say, having time to think out what you're going to say makes roleplaying a million times better.

what kind of party are we having? LG crusaders, wayfinder's foundation type explorers, undead-commanding minions of the blood of Vol...?

also, what level are we starting at? i don't want to have my first or second level character to have a backstory that involves his explorations into khyber or the jungles of xendrik.

    basically, need more info.

I'm trying to convince a friend to lend me his Ebberon book while I scrounge up the money for my own.

Before starting to work on my character, I'd like to know if there are any restrictions on class/race/ect that you guys have planned.

Only restriction we may have is no Psyonics, and thats only if we can't get ahold of a copy of the book.

    And lvl 1 characters

Presuming I get into this, I think I will be rolling a human fighter, specced in two-weapon fighting, and maximizing his advantage with long and short swords, sprinkle on a little power attack, cleave and spring attack.

depending on what level we are playing for sure, i have a backstory for my warforged artificer.

are we generating stats with point buy?

and as for a place to play, might i suggest: http://www.rpol.net
built-for-rpg message boards, with built in dice rollers etc. I've had very good experiences with it.

You realise fullplate would be better right? You just don't get that fancy 2/- dr.

I meant not being a Warforged and taking fullplate.

Or are you referring to the fact that he's kinda stuck with that till he finds a Docent?

Man, I need to read Eberron agian then. I could've sworn it was less than 8 ac. consequently, Juggernauts are mighty fun to play if you have an artificer buddy.

just checked, and yes, warforged can enchant their "armor" just like regular armor.

pg. 23, eberron campaign setting: "warforged can be enchanted just as armor can be."

Which makes Warforged Monks pretty badass. Composite Plating doesn't technically count as armor, so a warforged monk can basically wear and upgrade leather armor without losing their special abilities

Your armor bonus is increased to +8 and you gain damage reduction 2/adamantine. However your base land speed is reduced to 20 feet, and you are considered to be wearing heavy armor.

If you'll read my post a little more closely, you'll see that I said Composite Plating, as in the default warforged body, not adamantine plating.
