this story about ant simulator makes me so mad
apparently the dudes that ripped the main dev off
were friends of 11 years.
And they drank and partied the development money away. Made the llc contract so ironclad that all of the shit they did was considered consultation so apparently lawyers won't touch it.
11 years.
11 years friends with someone and you fuck them over for some party money.
God damn.
See. This is where I am conflicted with my own morals and ethics.
People like that deserve the death penalty waaaay more than some desperate armed robber who makes some bad decisions.

helicopters are terrifying. Like...the way they operate in general just seems like a terrible idea
They are right up there with small planes on my "lol, no, I'll drive kkthx" list.
I'd rather be in a small plane that mostly follows the rules of aerodynamics than a flying brick attached to to some jet turbines that forces the rules of aerodynamics to apply to it.
Everyone I've ever known who actually died in a plane crash died in a small plane.
They are statistically less safe than passenger jets as well.
they are less safe due to being flown by far less experienced and/or competent pilots with less rigorous maintenance routines etc.
i think everything else being equal a small plane would be safer. you can glide in to a landing on any prop plane at a very slow speed (the ones i flew the stall speed was like 40 mph i think). im p sure a jet plane stalls without engine power. haven't really researched it or anything just my gut impression.
Yeah. Much easier to convert altitude to airspeed on a small plane because of the lower stall.
Even with 20,000 ft of difference in their cruising altitudes, there's not really enough you can do with that flying brick. If you're going down you're pretty much going down.
And you can't really land them just anywhere.
You can land a small plane practically in someone's yard.
A jet you're going to take out a quarter mile of something.
No, passenger jet liners can glide to land, they don't stall without engine power.
And they can all fly with a single engine, and they have two or more. And two engines having mechanical failure at the same time doesn't happen.
every plane has a glide speed, it's just a question of what your glide range is and how much altitude you're losing per second to maintain glide speed. i have no experience with jets so i can't comment it just seems to me that a lighter prop plane would be a lot easier and safer in that kinda scenario.
well the scenario is engine failure, and in that case a cessna has to glade while a jet liner can still fly.
although if we're talking all engines failing, and you were flying around here and couldn't get to the airport then you both would die while the seaplane pilot laughs.
my best friend's dad has his commercial and jet licenses. he's a bigshot civil engineer by trade but he's specialized in waterfronts and so often travels for work. he charters a jet and flies himself and/or his coworkers on the company dime which is p sweet.
i asked him about seaplanes once and apparently he's a bit nervous going for it cuz you hit the angle of attack wrong and all of a sudden your floats have knifed into the water and the whole plane is sinking. that's what he said anyways.

Starting in July 2015, I have photographed Republican and Democratic presidential candidates as they hit the campaign trail in New Hampshire[.] [I’ve used] a harsh and direct flash, evocative of early press photography. The campaigns usually bring in their own lighting and backdrops, and this technique is a deliberate attempt to subvert their control of the optics of politics. Shooting in this way reveals the edges of this political spectacle: cold food left on a buffet line, duct tape holding up the banners[.]… The work is not meant to be critical of any candidates, but rather to focus on the banality of these events as they are set up, performed, and taken down again and again and again.
And they drank and partied the development money away. Made the llc contract so ironclad that all of the shit they did was considered consultation so apparently lawyers won't touch it.

yeah I haven't read anything that suggests seaplanes are like, easy, because like, well, it's water, it ain't tarmac and wheels
but still though, being able to go anywhere... mmmm....

mine is a tie between "yo her tattoos look like they were drawn by michael j fox in an earthquake" and "bitch's pussy looks like a kicked in jackolantern"
these are two of the most magical things ever uttered what are these porn reddits?
it was pretty good about a pilot who made a heroic and fucked up landing
was also drunk and on drugs, denzel washington was in it
that movie was great. and the major scene was intense. i mean, denzel is so competent and incredible and calm that i don't even care how fucked up he is. my hero. ACQUIT. YOU MUST ACQUIT.

noice. is this the same circle of friends as that one dude that used to be your best bro?
i knew him in high school too but he was not one of the 4. he was in the grade below me and we became better and better friends over the years following high school.
so he won't be involved.

Not anywhere. Seaplanes that have to make landings on land aren't landing so much as praying the crash goes well.

Oh that was a good thing?
In my mind I thought you were like "darn my drunken self, why did I get involved in this?"
Ghostbusters two could have been about Reddit.
Maybe I should reconsider this?
