    There was an article a while back about a guy who has spent $20k+ on Star Citizen

    Apparently he's got the income to afford it, and man, spend your money on what you want, but I cannot imagine spending 20 grand on a video game and coming out satisfied at all

    I try to give most games the benefit of the doubt

    Star Citizen is a bunch of fucking horseshit and anyone who spent money on it after the initial crowdfunding surge should feel bad. Anyone who has spent five figures on it should go to jail.

    Brink had a good game there

    It was just ruined largely by poor map design and a few imbalanced guns

    Brink could have been good if they let it

    Also there is no reality in which Star Citizen releases and meets expectations, you could Slide for decades and never find that reality

    I'm lucky that I got to try Brink at either PAX or E3 or some show, because the second you got control of that game you just knew it was hot garbage.

    That's why I love shooters that have demos, it's really hard from footage and promo stuff if I will like a shooter, but if I can get my hands on it, take a few steps, jump, crouch, pull the trigger a few times, I know if I dig it or not. And everything about Brink just screamed no.

    an issue with crowdfunding is that people know about your game from start to finish, you don't get the benefit of a carefully controlled reveal and 6-month marketing cycle

    star citizen is feeling that particularly because it's a very ambitious game that is going to take a long time

    i think that regardless of the end quality of star citizen it will wind up being a cautionary tale for several things, scope creep included
