What are his AA options? Crouching mp for distance and back mp when they are close? How does back HP fit in? Mainly I run into issues when people are in my face and jumping.
Crouching MK is pretty solid and I know I can combo with Vtrigger, but are there any other combos with it?
I'm also not really sure how to combo off his drill attack. Does it just take practice to get the distance correct? Is it even really worth using?

B.mk cancels into yoga flame, and one of his standard damage combos is cr.hp > b.mk xx lp or ex flame - ex flame in the corner can lead to an ex yoga Gale follow-up if you're fast enough. Otherwise it is a good poke to throw out.
You can get enough frame advantage off a drill to get a followup jab, but you have to aim for their feet - hitting anywhere else and you're too negative to do anything, and possibly get punished if you hit them too high. Its a tool to keep him unpredictable in the air, but rely on it too much and you'll get smoked - the same could be said for any of his mobility options.

Nope, titles are tied to number of wins with a character regardless of level.
I'm not sure if it's just ranked or if casual counts too, but getting your first win with a character unlocks a title. Doing easy survival and an online win with everyone is probably the quickest way to get the Sultan Of Titles achievement, in case you're like me and care about that kind of dumb bullshit.
Like why do character levels even exist if they don't unlock colors?
You get fight money for leveling.
You could just have that tied to overall player level since that's just the sum of all character levels though. I agree, leveling seems like the sanest way to do it.
If you removed character levels and only had player levels you'd no longer be able to get easy levels by playing a new character.

it's brutal because it's so long and boring and then you get into the part where the AI is actually playing and its pretty much a crapshoot based on how many random hits you take vs how much healing do you get offered
they should let you stockpile health to 200% or something to reduce variability

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
After the extended maintenance, I went online, played some Ft5 with a friend (who was formerly ranked #2 Gen in the world on SSF4) and got wrecked, but I took a few rounds here and there. My two biggest failings seem to be, when under pressure, to not mess up my buttons. Sonic Scythe, NOT Moonsault Slash. Also need to work on those target combos when in a pinch so it just becomes habit that if a lp or lk hit, to flow right into the next set of moves and end with a special.
My second failing is the throw game. I am free on throws. I know to expect them, but fall for the traps every time.
But on to the good news! I got the win 3 ranked matches in a row to get that trophy out of the way, which actually was 5 in a row because the server failed to recognize two matches in a row and transfer the data. :P
im not sure ive ever beat rashid online. i cant beat rashid, i cant beat ken. i can't beat anyone who has some sort of a command/special crossup move that goes faster than I can think
i wonder if there are some characters who actually can't punish eagle spike or if Capcom correctly realized that safe blanka balls aren't fun to play against and made sure everyone gets something
Even if you don't have a button that can reach him, the kicks are unsafe enough that you can walk forward and punish. Throwing them out a lot is a real bad habit to have.

Yeah. I'm actually finding Ryu to be the most fun.
Bison is cool but yeah...dat walkspeed.
Also interested in Cammy but tk cannon strikes have alwas been a problem for me consistency wise.
I'm very interested in seeing how Balrog and Urien play though.

Fun thing about Survival is you can kind of game the system if things go bad and you have fight request on
If you are getting hosed and there's someone waiting for a match you can accept it and then when you return you'll be back at your original health
