Hoo boy it is going to be rough going figuring out how to show this stuff

There have already been multiple times where they have to go "yeah the headset is showing me all this stuff, you can't see it, but trust me that it's cool"

you could potentially get clever and do anti-shake on your video output streaming

I just found it funny, like... I guess head-bob was a thing designed as some sort of move towards immersion, and so along those lines VR is kind of the final extension of that.
But yeah it's something that people seem to find distracting, so I imagine there'll be ways people try to make it more watchable. Which I'll be following closely and thinking about myself.

I'm glad someone realized we needed a Spider-Man webswinging game for VR.

VR for me severely reduces the need for "game" in my games

Exploring a cool looking environment with neat traversal goes a long, long way with VR

    "I don't see much of a game"

    Is this stage of VR.

This is also the point where people can now start to figure out how VR games should be designed

Cause it ain't how regular games are made

I wonder if they'll try any VR mods/hacks for existing games.

I've always wanted to try this in VR:

I mean, I'm not condemning the thing. If there were even some nonsense collectibles lying around, that would 'satisfy' the requirement.

fake-edit: and it looks like there are crystals / tablets at some point, but we just didn't see them.

I forgot that these headsets are doing the "glasses-free 3D" thing

And that might unsell me on VR entirely!

    I've had a 3DS for several years

The 3D has never worked once for even a second

I'm not sure what you mean. The 3D effect on the vive/pre would be done by rendering different perspectives per eye with each eye getting its own view, it's not the same tech used in the 3DS.

yeah this isn't really comparable, it's two separate eye cups that are calibrated to give you 3D, not doubling up on one screen

Watching GB's VR stream, and this Darknet game looks rad.

He mentions at one point that you could totally just play something like this on a touchscreen, which is true, but you don't feel like a console cowboy that way (What he actually said was there was a good sense of space in there, but I'm sticking with my reasoning)

People also need to figure out how to price this stuff

    Windlands looks cool

    But charging $20 for that?

I will give you 5, tops

    it reminds me of Uplink

Also in the sense that it's not something I'd binge on, but fun for dropping in and doing a 'sequence' or whatever

Reminds me what a fan I was of Deus Ex: Human Resources' hacking game. That was a legitimately fun game in itself, to me. I'd have played that outside of the game.
Also give me a hacking game that makes me feel like I'm doing Netrunner in real-time.

Seems like the Darknet dev talked with Sony at some point or another for a PS4 port, so here's hoping, since PSVR will be my VR of choice for awhile I think

I had completely forgotten that minigame. But you're right, that was a great one

They mentioned it on stream, but there actually IS an Oculus app to walk around Google StreetView

Another interesting thing that was mentioned in the Engadget review

Due to the amount of rendering they now have to do, expect graphical fidelity to go way below what we've gotten used to in this new generation

The resolution comes out to be basically 720p, and graphics quality is going back to the middle of the 360/PS3 era

I'm hoping more games end up having some kind of baked in "spectator" screen or something.

Like I tuned in while they were playing Darknet, and it was nice to see the screen rendered out to something "normal" looking for anyone else watching it on a monitor (or over a stream)

And now everything else has just been this garbage twin fisheye view

Also yeah, I mentioned this the other day, but despite what you'd think with the screen being right in front of your eyes

If you wear glasses, you will probably still want to wear glasses with a VR headset on

I thought I'd be fine, since I'm nearsighted and can play handheld games and stuff on my phone without my glasses, so a screen inches from my eyes should be fine

I can't explain what is happening well enough to explain, since I don't know anything about eyes, but I totally needed glasses on every VR headset I've tried
