Video stream capture program

So, you know those streaming videos on the internet? Yeah, I like some of those. Some of them I like alot, and would like to keep.

I already know about Keepvid.com, but some of the sites I want to get videos from don't work with it. I also know VLC will capture streams but for some reason it doesn't record them quite right, even if I mess with the options for transcoding and stuff.

So, anyone know a good program? Preferably a free program but if not that's ok.

    I think mplayer can also save streams?
