[Game of Thrones] has been on our television screens since 2011

What a time 2011 was! The Playboy Club aired for three episodes and was promptly forgotten. Piers Morgan's terrible CNN show made it's terrible debut. And all of the Westerosi kids still looked like kids! What a time to be alive.

Let us reminisce about these Salad Days. What are your favorite season one scenes? Here are some suggestions!

As always, MARK YOUR SPOILERS. If it's a book spoiler, say it is. If it's a TV spoiler, list the episode number.

No illegal links/leaks/whatever. Duh.

And do try not to be a dick about opinions/interpretations/whatever - as a wise man once said, "It's only tits and dragons."

Well, that's one way to finally get
Jaime into the Riverlands for whatever his plot is.

And going back through the books, it is really easy to see why the third book became two seasons while the fourth book...had a few episodes. Nothing happens in a feast for crows. And, what's worse, it uses a bunch of narrators you don't care about talking about shit you aren't interested in.

I also have a hundred bucks on
    Arya surviving until the end
    Because
GRRM's wife threatened to divorce him if she died.

Season six, episode six (and episodes prior to it):
This season is going hog fucking wild on bringing back old characters.

Characters we saw that we haven't seen since season four:
    Brandon Stark
    Meera Reed
    Hodor
    Three-Eyed Raven

Characters we saw that we haven't seen since season three:
    Edmure Tully
    Walder Frey

Characters we saw that we haven't seen since season fucking one:
    Benjen Stark

Characters we saw that were dead before this show even friggin' started:
    Gerold Hightower
    Arthur Dayne
    Oswell Went
King friggin' Aerys, of all people

I'm sure I'm missing folks, but jeezy petes are they committing to tying this all together. No stone* left unturned
    *heart????

    Oh wait.

I just realized something from this episode:
in bran's flashes of vision: We are seeing a ton of wildfire stores explode at one point.

Which was Aerys plan, but it never succeeded. And some of the wildfire pots were found when Tyrion started making new ones for his Blackwater plan, but probably 90% are still hidden away.

If a dragon does come to King's landing and tosses out s fiery lance, then it will just explode in a giant, green fireball like Aerys wanted. And since Bran is seeing this in a greenseer vision...

    ...

King's landing is so fucked, you guys.

    Speculations
It's only gonna get blown as a last ditch attempt as the White Walkers assault the walls in the Longest Winter, blowing them all up and giving the Starkgaryen Forces the leg up they need to win the war.

Also fuck yah Coldhands, MVP of the episode. Honorable mention to Walder Frey for being back and shit-lording it up.

    While I liked
Having Walder be cranky again, he had some fucking awkward ass lines because of exposition and forgetful audiences.

You get the knife you used to kill this character and you get the knife you used to kill that character, then go and remind him who was married at the Red Wedding, his nephew!

I mean, no shit. They couldn't have found a less clumsy way to say that? Like just say "remind him it was his nephew that was married at the Red Wedding"

    I thought

In the show, that marriage was nulled when he went to Dorne with Jaime in that entirely worthwhile plot point.

He was last mentioned in this very episode when Jaime was saying he wanted to get Bronn and a hundred armed swords to kill the high sparrow.

I am guessing he will travel with Jaime and be both a soundboard for him to talk to on the road as well as a training partner, effectively replacing the part of Payne from the books.

On another note, since one storyline from the books hasn't shown up yet, I have a guess as to how the show's story will go:
Dorne rising in rebellion in happening in a vacuum because the whole 'mummers dragon' story thread is absent and Dorne probably goes to war during that thread.

It helps that basically nobody gives a shit about Dorne, either in the books or in the show? Though I would rather read about Dorne than the fucking Iron Island plot points.

    Latest ep, Arya:
So, Arya's gonna be heading out of Braavos soon, obvi. There are two places to go - Westeros, and Meereen. There's been no groundwork lain for her returning to Westeros, but quite a bit of (subtle) groundwork lain for a trip to Meereen.

She's in good with this acting troupe, now. Acting troupes travel. We haven't seen Arya make inroads with any other traveling entities, so it seems like this is gonna be her escape route. And there's no way in hell they're taking this particular show on the Westeros road. So, Meereen it is.

Where this gets even more interesting, narratively, is Arya has now learned (through the play) all the shit that Tyrion's been up to. Through a skewed lens, yes, but nonetheless - she's learned a lot of shit about him that she was previously completely unaware of.

    Interesting stuff, interesting stuff.

Boy, it's nice to be excited about this show again. What a comeback from a horrid season.

I thought "tits and dragons" guy was playing Sam's dad. If he's not, then who is he playing? I was betting on a Greyjoy, but we didn't see him at Pyke either. I guess he might be a Maester then.

I hope Margery is actually converted and not faking.

I don't think Arya is cut out for this line of work.

Jaime's kinda screwing up the plausible deniability part of the plan by being there. Yessss, I hope Tommen is off the deep end. Ahh, it seems this is Tywin: Electric Boogaloo's plan.

Awwwww yisssssss, Benjen. I am pretty sure they had Kit Harridon doing the initial voice to throw people off, cos he sounded very similar.

    Yes. yes. and more yes.

Man, I mostly dug this episode

Sam taking the sword and saying fuck it was awesome, hopefully he'll just be known as the guy that kills white walkers. And the North of the wall stuff was fun with Benjen coming back, I have been rematching season one, and he's a fun character.

Arya was good in this episode, but I can help but feel her entire time at the temple was then just wasted? I mean what did she learn from them? I think adventures in the travelling minstrels could be fun though.

I just don't give a fuck with all of this high sparrow bullshit and tommund in general. I'm genuinely upset that the martells didn't march in because it means more of this bullshit.

Can someone remind me what was going on in river run? I didn't really get what was going on then as it was full of people I forgot.

The Freys held Riverrun, but the Blackfish (Catelyn's uncle) retook the city and kicked them out. The Freys are planning on using Edmure (Cat's brother) to take it back, and Tommen sent Jaime to help.

I totally agree about Margaery, I got the impression when she was first talking to Tommen that she was trying to add a little "nudge nudge, wink wink" to what she was saying. But then realized that he wasn't picking up on it so she kept it to herself.

I'm not so sure we're going to get Arya joining up with the acting troupe. I mean, her reaction to Lady Crane's "do you like pretending to be other people?" was to immediately bounce and reclaim Needle. It could be that she's done with being anyone other than Arya Stark. Or I could be completely wrong and she winds up replacing that other actress as Sansa in the play as they make their way across Essos. And, you know, stabs the shit out of the Waif.
