    I mean holy fuck.

Like wouldn't he know already? That was part of her crimes from the high sparrow. The dude admitted to it didn't he?

I don't recall. And I really don't want to watch that season to double check.

    Latest ep, Arya:
So, Arya's gonna be heading out of Braavos soon, obvi. There are two places to go - Westeros, and Meereen. There's been no groundwork lain for her returning to Westeros, but quite a bit of (subtle) groundwork lain for a trip to Meereen.

She's in good with this acting troupe, now. Acting troupes travel. We haven't seen Arya make inroads with any other traveling entities, so it seems like this is gonna be her escape route. And there's no way in hell they're taking this particular show on the Westeros road. So, Meereen it is.

Where this gets even more interesting, narratively, is Arya has now learned (through the play) all the shit that Tyrion's been up to. Through a skewed lens, yes, but nonetheless - she's learned a lot of shit about him that she was previously completely unaware of.

    Interesting stuff, interesting stuff.

Boy, it's nice to be excited about this show again. What a comeback from a horrid season.
Surely. You don't get Richard E. Grant for just two scenes. I'm looking forward to Withnail and Arya.
I'm not so sure we're going to get Arya joining up with the acting troupe. I mean, her reaction to Lady Crane's "do you like pretending to be other people?" was to immediately bounce and reclaim Needle. It could be that she's done with being anyone other than Arya Stark. Or I could be completely wrong and she winds up replacing that other actress as Sansa in the play as they make their way across Essos. And, you know, stabs the shit out of the Waif.
I mean, I don't think she's gonna actually join up and do the acting thing. But hook up with them short-term as a bit of cover and a way to travel unharassed and unnoticed until she gets to where she wants to go? Sure, why not?

Good episode overall, last part was a bit yawny personally but Arya, Jaime and Bran all have fast moving plots which is great

Also I have all the time in the world for Meera
Nailed a White Walker last episode, kept Bran going in that storm, the girl is one tough kid!

Also Sam slayed it once more, good lad

I don't buy Margaery being converted at all, she's too savvy for that. Also Mace continues to be excellent value.
I totally agree about Margaery, I got the impression when she was first talking to Tommen that she was trying to add a little "nudge nudge, wink wink" to what she was saying. But then realized that he wasn't picking up on it so she kept it to herself.
I'm pretty sure I noticed here stop her smile as she hugged Tommen then immediately start again when she was back in view. She's totally faking her sudden devotion to the seven.

I can't help but like Sam. It's caused a bit of a disconnect in my brain

i would be very disappointed if Margery
wasn't faking it, it totally doesn't fit with her character at all to just suddenly convert to dickhead religion

    Margery
I think she was faking it. I don't think she was aware of her grandmother's plans, and was doing what she had to in order to avoid taking the walk of shame. She probably figured Tomen couldn't help his own mother, he wouldn't be able to help her. And maybe she could work something out for her brother if she got herself in a better position with the cult. Her talk with Loress last episode seemed like her oh shit I need to do something no one is going to rescue me moment. I thought her face when the army walked up to free her looked like .. confusion, and oops.

    Yah, I was surprised that
both AV club reviewers were seemingly convinced that Margery was convinced by the Sparrow. The "previously on" clip with her bro was right there and his "I just want it to stop" line is pretty clearly a motivation.

Naw Margaery is simply THIS. She plays everyone. Hell, she played Joffrey like a fiddle.

She figured the only way to save her brother was to pretend that they were "born again"

    I really enjoyed
absolutely no one giving a single shit about Mace's inspiring speech.

Honestly even more than that I really enjoyed
Mace had some random dude leading his horse, like you would do with a toddler who's just gotten on a horse for the first time.

    Man, this episode...

It shouldn't surprise any of you but [regarding Cersei & Jaime]
They are just my favorite. I love them both and actively root for them to just destroy everyone who opposes them.

I don't even think I could fight my love for them because yo I grew up in a Lannister house-hold.

Im glad it went down the way it did. Because if her army had really marched on the sept I would fully expect the writers to have her be brutally murdered in the initial rush

The Lannisters are a lot less fun when they're just going against the Starks, cause then it's a much more Good Guys V. Bad Guys thing

Ever since the Red Wedding, they've basically had their sights on every OTHER house, which all have their fair share of assholes, so now it's Fun Evil vs. Regular Evil

The Lannisters are great and Jaime especially has always been one of my favourite characters. The speech in the baths with Brienne! What an absolute blinder of a character moment that was!

he went off the rails a bit last season, mind. The showrunners took too many liberties there and I wish they'd have taken him down the road of realising that Cersei is pretty awful and that he's a better man now than he was.

    Oh wait.

I just realized something from this episode:
in bran's flashes of vision: We are seeing a ton of wildfire stores explode at one point.

Which was Aerys plan, but it never succeeded. And some of the wildfire pots were found when Tyrion started making new ones for his Blackwater plan, but probably 90% are still hidden away.

If a dragon does come to King's landing and tosses out s fiery lance, then it will just explode in a giant, green fireball like Aerys wanted. And since Bran is seeing this in a greenseer vision...

    ...

King's landing is so fucked, you guys.

I have long, long suspected that
Cersei will destroy King's Landing with wildfire at some point, probably when Tommen dies. I have absolutely nothing concrete to base this on, other than the fact that she got the Alchemists to start making the stuff again. The rest is just... little hints, stuff she says in the show and the books, things that probably mean nothing but that all add up in my mind to Cersei going nuts and burning King's Landing down sometime. I even wonder if Jamie will be around to see it and will be forced to kill her, just as he did the mad King. I'm probably way off, but it's great to see that wildfire is going to be significant!

Yeah, I fell off it hard, hard, hard. Never did finish that season.

When this season got positive word of mouth, and folks I trust said it was better, I came back.

I'm not as invested in it as I used to be, and don't know if I'll ever be able to, but this one's a marked improvement.

The show didn't really mention it but didn't Tommen just:
Actually do Jamie an incredibly huge favor by stripping him of his position in the Kingsguard? Doesn't this mean he is back to being the heir to casterly rock, which, given that his father is dead, the owner of casterly rock and the head of the lannister family? Tommen just undid the cruel trap Aerys set for Tywin so many years ago.

Maybe, if Tywin was still alive.
But he isn't and I don't think Jamie cares all that much about Casterly Rock.

I'm hoping TV Jaime can soon match up to Book Jaime
Book Jaime has stopped giving a fuck about the Lannisters and is just focused on doing a good job as Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, with a degree of humility and honour.

Although I loved TV Jaime in seasons 3 and 4, he's seemed a little... confused, I think? in seasons five and six. This is probably because he spent most of last season in the black hole that was Dorne. And he also isn't as much fun at politics and court intrigue as Cersei is, which is what he's been doing most of this season. I'm glad he's getting away from Cersei, but I hope that getting away from her also means her spell over him is broken soon. Which, I suppose, will only happen if he finds out about Lancel.

as much as everyone liked what happened with book jamie
I found it pretty unrealistic and dull, and also since Cersei is an actual character with human emotions in the show, jamie couldnt react the way he did in the books, it just wouldnt have made emotional sense. I mean it still could happen if Cersei loses tommon and goes legit crazt, that would be ok
