Overwatch is a team-based multiplayer shooter with objective based modes which pits two teams of 6 players against each other. The game is designed around several classes where each character has unique abilities, with a cartoon art style similar to that found in Team Fortress 2 or in Pixar Animation movies.

Backstory -

Welcome to Overwatch™ Soldiers. Scientists. Adventurers. Oddities. In a time of global crisis, an international task force of heroes banded together to restore peace to a war-torn world: OVERWATCH.

It ended the crisis and helped to maintain peace in the decades that followed, inspiring an era of exploration, innovation, and discovery. But after many years, Overwatch's influence waned, and it was eventually disbanded. Overwatch is gone… but the world still needs heroes.

ULTIMATE ABILITY: DRAGONBLADE - Genji brandishes his katana for a brief period of time. Until he sheathes his sword, Genji can deliver killing strikes to any targets within his reach.

Biotic Field - Soldier: 76 plants a biotic emitter on the ground. Its energy projection restores health to 76 and any of his squadmates within the field.
ULTIMATE ABILITY: TACTICAL VISOR - Soldier: 76’s pinpoint targeting visor “locks” his aim on the threat closest to his crosshairs. If an enemy leaves his line of sight, Soldier: 76 can quickly switch to another target.

ULTIMATE ABILITY: DEADEYE - Focus. Mark. Draw. McCree takes a few precious moments to aim; when he’s ready to fire, he shoots every enemy in his line of sight. The weaker his targets are, the faster he’ll line up a killshot.

ULTIMATE ABILITY: PULSE BOMB - Tracer lobs a large bomb that adheres to any surface or unfortunate opponent it lands on. After a brief delay, the bomb explodes, dealing high damage to all enemies within its blast radius.

ULTIMATE ABILITY: RIP-TIRE - Junkrat revs up a motorized tire bomb and sends it rolling across the battlefield, climbing over walls and obstacles. He can remotely detonate the RIP-Tire to deal serious damage to enemies caught in the blast, or just wait for it to explode on its own.

    Recent Competitive Seasonal Info
    Season 1 will officially end on Wednesday, August 17 at 5:00 p.m. PT (August 18 at 12:00 a.m. UTC). For time zone assistance, and to see when Season 1 will end in your region, visit thetimezoneconverter.com.

    Season 2 is currently scheduled to launch on September 6, but this could shift as we continue to work on system improvements. We will be sure to share the exact date and time as we get closer to its release.

    SEASON 1 REWARDS
    If you completed your placement matches during Season 1, you will eligible to receive a special spray and player icon. These will be unlocked automatically when you log into your account the first time after the season ends. If at any point during the season you managed to break into the Top 500 players on your platform (and in your region), you’ll receive an extra player icon and animated spray on top of the other seasonal rewards.

    Aside from sprays and icons, you’ll also receive a number of Competitive Points based on the maximum skill rating you achieved during the season.

    Not sure if it's been mentioned, but you can't animation cancel Ana's grenade, but you can use it to cancel other animations. In other words, if you want max damage on a sleeping target you want to shoot -> melee -> grenade. You can do this combo over a split second for 175 total damage.

    Am I crazy or are Ana's abilities on the wrong buttons? Using shift for something you shoot at an enemy feels wrong. I know I can change it in the options, but it seems like a weird default to me.

    So what exactly had they done to D.Va?

    They made it so her shield now has a meter that last a few seconds which you can toggle on and off and recharges over time. They also increased the range of her damage. In addition, they have decreased her ult countdown to 3 seconds, and made it so the explosion no longer kills her.

    I won't play Ana much but I like her design. I think she'll be a powerful backup healer to Mercy, Zenyatta, or Lucio but not necessarily a character I'd want healing on their own.

    I've played with numerous people who base everything on the medals, but aren't even trying to play as a team. The medals are meaningless for the most part, because the biggest skills this game requires are communication and cooperation.

    If you lose, you lose as a team. And since the mode is based around putting you with people in the same rank range, if you can't handle losing because of the lack of skill of other players, I'd just not play in pub and always group.

    I've found I have the best pub games when I start the game with talking about news about the game over voice chat. Get people who talk back, who feel comfortable enough to talk and you'll work better together.

    Of course you don't always get that. And of course sometimes even then we lose, but there's a lot of good players out there, and sometimes our team just isn't good enough to beat them. But afterwards there's no complaints, there's no insults. There's compliments, and sometimes we end up grouping up.

    Because I play to win, and winning requires a team all working together to win.

    Re: toxicity. Like, anyone who is playing Mercio or Lucio or is the best player on my team can abusively tell me to switch strategies or characters, and I usually will, although I still obviously don't appreciate it.

    But for me the real problem isn't even crappy players telling me stuff like, "Your Pharah sucks. Switch to Mercy" It's interactions like:

    non-contributing player on my team: "Can't anyone kill that fucking Junkrat?"
    me: "I can't even get close to him without dying. He's crazy good."
    bad player: "You're shit"

    Like most of my competitive matches I've been part of or seen interactions like that. And the problem is I always play like shit after, because deep down, I want that guy to lose more than I want my whole team to win. I'm not saying I throw the match on purpose, but...

    It's the anonymity factor. In general, with pubs, I don't know you and I don't want to know you. (This is my attitude, but more generally most peoples' attitude when playing with people they don't know.) It's easier to be rude and short with people you don't know. Everyone behaves better in the company of people they do know. Frankly I feel like, at this juncture, Blizzard should be actively discouraging solo queuing for competitive at the least. Like a checkbox that says "Hey, you have friends on. Shouldn't you play with them?"

    There are a lot of good things Blizzard is doing with matchmaking: sorting people into games with people on their friends list whenever possible (and onto the same team, too). That will eventually foster a better community, but there's a lot of reporting between here and there.
