I wouldn't call him a fascist, and there are many things that separate this phenomenon from the great fascist revolutions in our history. The most striking one is age; fascist movements have universally involved some pretty extensive idolization of youth, and made good use of it, noticeably absent in this gray movement.
they also commonly involve fascist policy
Trumps definitely danced over that line a few times but halfheartedly.
Like the idea of forced registration of Muslims is 100% a fascist idea
Floating the idea of legislation allowing the president to remove all appointees from prior presidents feels pretty totalitarian to me also.
Proposing targeting and killing the families of terrorists.
And yeah, the aforementioned making an "other" of all Islam, supporting registration, banning travel to that class of citizen - even going so far once to say that if you left the country you couldn't return.
So I guess it's not fascist until it happens, which is fine... but can we at least call what we are witnessing proto-fascism?

Elki is right though, it's missing it's teeth. There's no ground force operating outside the law and no real way to get one. There isnt enough youth support.

Good morning [chat]!
I think it may actually be a cool day today.
Which is good, 'cause I have a lot of walking to do.
Everyone should have to register their pertinent information with the authorities.
... I'm still salty about having to give the cops my address and contact info yesterday.

The closest we get are his rallies where he tells his crowd to throw the guy out and they do, and maybe they beat him up or call him an "n" word on the way out.
But yeah, as soon as those rallies are exposed to the outdoors the power vanishes.
I wonder how true that remains if he wins, and the minority who believes this awful shit feels like they are in the majority though.
