The politicians have effectively embraced or accepted a group that has been proven a way to win Republican primaries by appealing to them in the most toxic manner possible because the politicians are delusional enough to think that Trump-like people will go away if Trump loses.

I was watching the close of Trump's speech in the other room, where they had on MSNBC, not the official twitch feed.
I had to go "Wait, is MSNBC playing this over the footage for a laugh, or is this actually being played?" and ran back to my room. Couldn't believe it.
Good. CNN just pointed out the "what the fuck"ness about where all these supposed stories about people that Trump's helped come from and where's the proof of any of it.

First comment was about why I was making a choice without holding the other side accountable -- to which I replied that Hillary has been held more accountable than any politician in the last few decades.
